No air-con, I'm a bit worried about the maintenance of the art works and also not a good place to hide from the heat wave. :( very nice staff, who helped us to hire a blue bird taxi back to hotel.

Interesting Indonesian art and history. Small gallery doesn't take long to check it out, but there is some interesting stuff.

The history underlying this collection is fascinating, although sadly it reflects some very bad behaviour of certain artists...
This is an international-calibre exhibit of high-profile international artists.
No air con so if it's hot, go slow and bring water!

The Museum PASIFIKA has an interesting collection of art focused primarily on the nexus between western art and Southeast Asia. Naturally the western or western-influenced art about Indonesia gets pride of place, but there are excellent galleries on Indochine and the southwest Pacific. Most of the art dates from mid-19th century to current. So nothing from the Renaissance or baroque. You do get Impressionism, expressionism, and some memorable portrait of Balinese people and life.

An odd leap from this is the primitive arts and decorative crafts of Vanuatu and other Pacific islands. I found the painted human skulls especially interesting. Evidently if you go to all the trouble of hunting up a head and decorating your house with it, you might as well take the time to decorate the skull itself.

The museum is a short walk from the Grand Hyatt, in Nusa Dua, and you can get to the Grand Hyatt via Nura Nura bus.

It is worth seeing this museum to see how many people from all around the world have stayed in Bali and have been inspired by this beautiful paradise. The paintings of Bali scenes are colorful, picturesque at times and a reflection of the lifestyles and the Balinese people.
