“Excellent Honeymoon Hotel”
Reviewed 15 May 2012

We arrived at the Laguna in early April after a short stop-over in Singapore where we had stayed at the St Regis. We were very impressed with the greeting we received from the reception staff; being welcomed with a drink and some cold towels. Check-in was swift and we were quickly shown to our room.

The Room:

No complaints really. The room was pretty large, had everything we needed and as it was our Honeymoon, we received a few small gifts from the Hotel and had a Frangipani bath run for us when we arrived. Some parts of the room could have been doing with "sprucing up" but all in all it was comfortable, clean and of a high standard. Our Balcony overlooked the lagoons and made for a pleasant view. We had one issue...in our second week at the hotel, our hot water started to run out. However, we reported this and on the same day we were upgraded to a suite as the problem was going to take some time to fix. We had help from the staff to package all of our stuff up and move room. Excellent service.

The Resort:

Without doubt, one of the most picturesque resorts I have ever stayed in. The grounds are manicured to within an inch of their lives and they seem to have staff who are dedicated to the full time upkeep of the resort. No blade of grass was out of place! I think the Hotel was only at 40% occupancy when we were there so there was never any problem getting a sun lounger or fighting your way to the pool or the beach. So many pools to choose from and the beach was largely immaculate. Hawkers do speak to you on the beach and try to persuade you to buy things but you do not feel obligated to do so. They are pretty friendly and a polite no, if you are not interested, witll suffice.

Food and Drink:

Yes, it is expensive when compared to prices outwith the Hotel. However, we didn't find it so expensive that it stopped us from eating within the hotel when we couldnt be bothered heading out. The food was of a high quality and to be honest, I didn't mind stumping up a little more money for a better quality of food. Outside the Hotel, the Bali Collection is only a 5 minute walk away and has a wide selection of restaurants which offer up European, Balinese, Japanese, Chinese and Russian food all at cheaper than hotel prices. There is also a large Supermarket and some clothing/souvenir shops too. Drinks were expensive within the hotel, with alcohol prices being pretty steep...so much so that we did without wine for the 2 weeks... We ate at Arwana, Banyubiru and the Cornerstone Deli and all were excellent. Breakfast was varied and always fresh. I would challenge anyone to complain about it.

Staff:

Some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. They will happily, as with most of the Balinese people, go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible; especially if it is your Honeymoon.

Surrounding area:

Nusa Dua is pretty sanitised and can be a bit intimidating going through the security gates at the entrance to the resort and then again at the entrance to the hotel, but at least safety is a top consideration. If you want to see the real Bali, you can always jump in a taxi or hire a local driver to take you on a tour for the day which is what we did. Got to see everything we wanted to see for a price that was pretty cheap and never felt pushed to visit any shops or restaurants that we didnt want to visit.

All in all we had an excellent stay at the Laguna. We would thoroughly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday on this beautiful island. The staff, attention to detail and comfort all made it a Honeymoon to remember and we will hopefully be back soon. In the two weeks we were there we had prefect weather (no rain at all) and had no major issues with the hotel. 5* trip and recommended to all.

Our stay at the Laguna Nusa Dua was wonderful. The beach was spectacular and there are so many pools to swim in at the property that you can have a different experience everyday. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful and the property was impeccably maintained. The only thing that I think needs some improvement are the menus. The menus, restaurants, room service, breakfast buffet, etc. are all exactly the same for the most part. It would have been nice to have some variety and different cuisines to choose from at the different restaurants. We were there for a week so we did branch out and head next door to the Melia Hotel for tapas. It would have been great if there was that sort of option there. Other than that, the stay was fantastic and we would recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms/suites have balcony access to the swimming pools. Next time I think we will o...

Laguna Resort was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed at. What made it so exceptional was the high quality rooms, marble bathrooms, teak floors and woodwork, Art work reflecting the country and the deck overlooking the lagoons. The room was was very clean and comfortable. Our breakfast buffet offered many choices and our morning coffee on the beach was exceptional. The pools were always clean and there were always clean towels availble nearby. The staff was one of our favorite aspects of our stay. They were beyond pleasant, always making us feel special and very welcome, always with a smile.

Room Tip: choose a suite overlooking the lagoon's. Very nice and quiet.

Laguna Nusa Dua offers most things you'd expect in a beach resort. It's no St. Regis, but still beautifully landscaped with a variety of shallow and deep pools and a well-maintained beach amenities including cabanas.
It also offers plenty of activities if you're ADHD like me and can't do too much of sunning. Just to name a few activities offered on-site:

Bike rentals (it's a pleasant ride/jog along the boardwalk shared by all the resorts)
Sea Kayaks
Windsurfing (great conditions/prices for beginners)
Standup Paddles
Snorkle trips to a nearby island
plus Parasailing and bannan boat -type of stuff just on the beach down the road.
Good quality spas including moonlight couples massage on the beach ( although outside of the resort you can find much better prices)

For eats, the restaurants serve very nice food at competitive prices.
The resort also runs an hourly shuttle service to Bali collection, a nearby plaza/mall with much more food options and lots of beachwear shops.

The only downside of Nusa Dua in general is that it's pretty far from the rest of the action in Bali unless you're content with staying within the confines of the resort. For example, to get to Ubud it was a good 2hour cab ride. But otherwise this is a fabulous place for honeymooners or family alike.

Room Tip: Most ground level rooms have direct access to the lagoons (pools)

I stayed here for 6 nights with friends and it was an absolute dream. Fantastic hotel, service and the breakfast was lovely. The place itself was kept very clean and it was literally just lovely to wake up to everyday! The best feeling was coming back from breakfast, changing into your swimsuit and jumping into one of the 'laguna's' surrounding the hotel - which was literally what your balcony opened up to. Peaceful & relaxing, whether if it was on your balcony or on the beach. I would most definitely come back.

We stayed at the Sheraton Laguna for 5 days and I enjoyed every single day there. The grounds are beautifully maintained surrounded by waterfall and lagoons. We had a lagoon Access Room which made it a treat waking up and stepping straight into the lagoon from our balcony. The room was beautifully appointed however the walkways to the rooms were in need of an update as the carpet was slightly old and had that very slight smell of mould.
The breakfast buffet was what you would expect of a Sheraton resort and will not disappoint. This hotel has beach access with plenty of sunbeds at your disposal. The rooms are serviced and cleaned regularly and free water is at your bedside morning and night also good free internet access . As typical Nusa Dua style it is very quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Seminyak from the hotel and if traffic is heavy it could take you longer. There were not many children at this hotel, mostly couples or mature people. The service from the beginning to the end was what you once again expect from at Sheraton Resort, and all staff could speak reasonably good english. You will enjoy your stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: The lagoon access rooms are the best
