With so many properties with great reviews and pretty pictures in Nusa Dua, it was hard to choose, but we really made the right choice with the Laguna. We stayed in a 1 bedroom Pool Villa. Upon arriving we were somewhat perplexed when main reception directed us to a different reception area. As it turns out, the villas have their own private reception, and I must say that it was just an absolutely first class experience from that point forward. I can't say enough good things about the staff here, extremely friendly and welcoming, greeting us by name from the get go, and providing all around outstanding service. The manager even came down to say a quick hello in person as we were checking in.

As for the Pool Villas themselves, absolutely stunning. Enormous, lavish, everything you could want, and at an extremely reasonable price point for that type of accomodation. They are arranged such that the villa reception is no more than a 30 second walk from any of the villas, and they will help you with anything you need with the utmost efficiency.

Outside of the villas themselves, I'll keep my review short - great property, great spa, great beach, great food and drink. Everything you could want. Only place I've ever seen a swimming pool with a real sand beach. And on that note, if traveling with a family, the non-villa rooms are very nice as well. Some of them are "swim-out" so you can exit the room and step directly into one of the properties many pools, a big hit with the kids. There is a boardwalk that runs along the beach so it is very easy to explore other hotels if you want, or go for a morning run, etc. At night the property is tranquil and lit with lanterns that lend it a very nice ambiance. You can't go wrong with the Laguna.

Bali
Laguna

The Laguna is absolutely wonderful, we had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is beautiful, in a great location and is pure luxury from the lobby right through to the beach. It is beautifully decorated as are the rooms and the walk through the pools and gardens to the beach is a delight in itself. The hotel staff are fabulous, such lovely people, always smiling and eager to help and nothing is too much bother.
The buffet breakfast in the Banyubiru was absolutely fantastic with a huge choice and range of foods to choose from and the same goes for the international buffet in the evening. The Arwana restaurant down on the beach isn’t as expensive for dinner as you might think and worth going at least once to eat by the sea.
You will probably be offered an upgrade on your room at check in which is great if you want more space so we went to look at both and our allocated rooms was just beautiful as it was so we didn’t upgrade. Once you are checked in your ‘Butler’ will introduce him/herself and show you the big button on the phone to call for the Butler and it’s a nice touch but really only a room service thing. Prapto, our butler, was a lovely man and he kept checking on us during our stay to make sure everything was as we wanted it.
All of the pools and lagoons were beautiful and we had the small pool by the Sapphire lagoon bar all to ourselves most of the time, very quiet and relaxing and Saptika provided us with an excellent drinks and lunch service right by the pool.
As it is a 5* hotel it is slightly expensive for drinks and food but not so much as a 5* here(U.K.) and most people choose to eat at the Bali Collections as its much cheaper and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. (Laguna run a free shuttle bus or it’s a short 10 min walk down beach). It pays to join Starwood as this is the hotel reward scheme and this entitles you to 10% off any food you order in the hotel and it pays to make use of the happy hours too and there are two a night at both bars in the hotel.

We only took one trip as we were there to relax and did the Temple day trip which was good value for money but avoid public holidays and weekends as the roads are manic and you will spend most of your time sitting in traffic

Only down side to the whole holiday was the Airport. It is terrible. Huge long queues on the way in through border control (we were an hour and a half in the queue) and there were only 2 staff on but we figured it was a shift change as it was 5pm so try and avoid getting in then if you can and make sure you have enough cash to pay for the visa both on the way in and the way out.

Overall this has been one of the most wonderful holidays we have ever had and I highly recommend the Laguna for a luxury holiday. We would go back in a heartbeat and hope to do so asap.

Room Tip: Garden rooms near the hotel lobby have fantastic view of the waterfall and gardens

We spent three nights in a villa as a special treat for our anniversary , it's was heaven from start to finish, we had originally booked a executive room but where advised that a villa was available, I have to say the room was fantastic but decided to treat ourselves. Wow we where not disappointed , luxury from start to finish with your own butler, pool and gardens ,they arranged for us to have a romantic dinner on the beach for our anniversary and it was a fabulous experience ,the food was amazing and the service the same. Would highly recommend this to anybody wanting to celebrate a special occasion .

There are too many places in the world to visit to return to a resort twice, but, for The Laguna, we made an exception because it is such a special place to stay (also stayed here in 2013) We stayed here during the last week in May for six nights.
We were pleasantly surprised by the weather this time as we experienced lovely breezes each morning and evening, which made eating outdoors really pleasant.

ROOM.
We stayed in a lagoon view room (third floor) which had great views over the main lagoon pools and the sea to one side. The king size bed was super comfy, bathroom was well fitted out and the shower was brilliant - a very good hot & strong water flow. Usual toiletries were supplied (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body cream, toothpaste & toothbrush)
One of the hotel’s best features is the Butler Service, which we used frequently for coffee. The coffee served here was excellent quality, hot & strong, and was always served with a smile. As we are early risers, we often rang at around 05.30, and to be served freshly brewed coffee at that time in a morning was a treat. Sitting on our balcony, watching the sun rise drinking coffee, was a really nice way to start the day.
If you need an iron & ironing board just ask, the Butler will bring one for you for your room.

POOLS ,GARDEN & BEACH
The pools here are a great size, exceptionally clean, they never appeared busy and it was lovely to be able to choose a different pool to swim in each time.
There were an ample supply of sun lounger’s available each day (beach and pool side) and we did not see many “reserved but not used” at all.
The gardens are immaculate, the team of gardener’s here certainly work hard to keep them so pristine. It’s a pleasure to walk around the gardens.
The beach here is very clean, the water is warm, quite clear and we saw very little, if any, rubbish on the beach or in the sea.
Due to the tides at this time of year, the sea went out a long way each evening, and when it returned, it created quite a deep sea to swim in which was really nice.

FOOD
There are two restaurants – Banyubiru, Arwana (sea front) a deli called Cornerstone and a beach side bar called Kulkul.
We tried the food at all as we dined mostly at the resort (we ate out only once during our stay)
For breakfast, we ate at both Arwana and Banyubiru (same menu)
Arwana was a lovely place to sit in a morning to watch the sea and catch the breeze, but we also loved sitting on the verandah area of Babyubiru which was next to a lagoon pool overlooking the gardens.
There was a very wide choice of foods at breakfast, something to suit everyone and all tastes, and I loved their banana crumble !
For lunch we ate once at Arwana, then rest of the time ate at the Kulkul Bar (beach front) as we discovered their fish & chips, which were very good indeed (150,000 IDR each) Their non alcoholic fruit cocktails are lovely, especially the one with banana in it (90,000 IDR). An outdoor barbecue & salad buffet would work well here as the setting is lovely – right on the beach.
For dinner we ate at both restaurants, the quality of food at both restaurants was excellent, and on the whole, well worth the cost (main courses cost us aprox. 26,000 to 32,000 IDR each)
Sitting outside for dinner at the Arwana in the evenings was a lovely experience. They had lanterns blowing in the breeze and looked very romantic, and it was also a good place to sit and watch “the world go by”.
We had one meal at the Cornerstone Deli – it was very nice but nothing special. The deli also had a good range of flavours of ice cream (35,000 IDR per scoop)

STAFF
The staff are a valuable asset to this resort. Everyone we met was always polite, very pleasant and extremely helpful.
Check in & out was quick and efficient, and the welcome drink on arrival is a cold refreshing spiced clove drink – it really is very, very nice.
By the way, the pool guy’s do a great job of cleaning the pools each day - we would watch them from our balcony.
This place is an excellent example of great customer service, it is obvious that this resort is expertly managed and run on a “day to day” basis.

Whilst we were there we celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary.
We received a little decorated cake with candles. The cake was a chocolate brownie mix which was gorgeous – we really enjoyed it. This gesture was very much appreciated – Thank You to The Laguna.

Would we stay again ? well, we should say no as we have been here twice now and their are other places to visit – but – I’m sure we will return, as it’s such a special place !

My wife and i have just got back from a wonderful two week stay at the Laguna.
The hotel is set in beautifully kept grounds which are constantly tended and surrounded by several lagoon pools as well as two other great pools with plenty of sun loungers and shade if you wanted. We found the service around the pools good with staff ready to take orders for food and drinks, and even a cold face cloth in the heat of the day!!
The beach is extremely clean and well kept, again with plenty of sun beds and shade for all
.
We had a Lagoon view room which had all the things you'd expect in a hotel of this standard. Mini bar, TV, Nice bathroom and shower ect. No tea or coffee making facility but a Butler service instead with 24hr complimentary tea, coffee, latte's ect. Excellent and quick!!

Breakfast was amazing with a fantastic choice of food from pastries to breads to eggs and omelettes cooked how you like, great fresh juices and fruit. Both Asian and western palettes catered for, We ate dinner once in each of the restaurants, the Awana, Banyubiru,Cornerstone and lunch in the Kulkul and found the food and service in all to be excellent. There are also plenty of restaurants near by in Tanjung Benoa or Jimbaran beach if you want a change, great concierge service who were always happy to assist with bookings and taxis (which are cheap as chips). But what make this hotel special as well as its location and gorgeous grounds are its staff.
They are ALL so friendly and professional, from the guys tending the gardens, pools and beach to the staff in all the restaurants and bars. They really made our stay.
We would definitely recommend the Laguna to anyone.

This place is absolutely amazing! There are a lot of reviews that this place is dated and expensive. Yes it might be an older hotel, however it it kept up really well. We booked the hibiscus villa and it was absolutely heaven! The breakfast buffet was delicious and fulfilled anyone and everyones craving. Drinks are expensive, but that's a standard in Bali. You have to realize that all liquor is imported and it's prices are in line with most outlets. The spa is absolutely beautiful and I had one of the best massages ever! We booked several days of transportation with Agung Tourist Transport. Best thing that we ever did. We told him what we wanted and he then set up amazing itineraries! You can find him on FB or on TripAdvisor! Great prices and the friendliest person you can imagine! All in all, it's an amazing place. Can't wait to go back!
