“Beautiful resort and amazing service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014 via mobile

The service throughout our stay from arriving to check out was top notch. The facilities are superb with lots of day time activities u can sign up for as well. They have so many pools too! Food is also great and at reasonable prices. The beach is also doesn't get too busy- I recommend to watch the sunrise on this beautiful peaceful beach front :)

We arrived at the hotel after a short stay in Gili T and just wanted to enjoy some exceptional comfort.. Exactly what we got! Beautiful resort, gardens, pools, beach all very well kept! Staff very helpful and an awesome can do attitude! Breakfast was golden and we had dinner at Arwana every night! Exceptional! I highly recommend the spa, we had a the 2 hour ( I think) treatment and left rejuvenated! I would like to thank Dina at the front desk for all her efforts to make us have a memorable stay! Can't wait to go back to this pearl!

Probably the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a relaxed vacation in Bali!
The food was delicious and the beach looks just like it does on postcards. the rooms were really spacious and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
If you plan a trip to Bali you should stay here!

This is one of the older, more established resort hotels, so you don't get flashy modern, but you do get perfectly comfortable, well-serviced, well-stocked rooms, with the most charming & helpful staff I have ever met. Our room was on the second floor, overlooking one of the swimable lagoons - on the lower floor you can swim from you balcony. We were seaward facing, but you don't need a sea view here, as the gardens are a amazing. There are several rooms that you gan get straight into a pool from....worth requesting/booking I think. The pools are vast, so never crowded, none more than shoulder-deep and one has areas with sandy beach access, so perfect for kids. Food is amazing. The main buffet restaurant has such an amazing choice...some thing always guaranteed to be there (Nasi Goreng, huge range of tropical fruits, waffles/pancakes, yogourt, ice cream, sushi, etc., eyc., but every day there are different choices on the numerous different sections. You could eat here for a year and never get bored. We did have a lovely meal in the Arwana a la carte, which was gorgeous, and felt a bit special, since it's water service, rather than the Buffet Banyburi, where you do get walk off some of the calories going to & from the vast buffet! We had a few issues with our credit card, which was annoying and took a bit of sorting out, and the safe went wrong, but everyone was so absolutely charming. That is the one thing that stands out - a hotel is a building, which if properly maintained / cleaned, will not give rise to complaint, but the staff at the Laguna were, without exception, so delightful.....not just Reception & waiters, but pool boys, gardeners, cleaners alike. Possibly the most comfy bed I've ever slept in, with deliciously smooth, silky cotton sheets. One gripe (and Laguna are not alone in this..) why keep changing towels when the guest follows your "Eco policy" by not dumping towels in the bah /on the floor? Hotels must waste so much money/ fuel & create so much more pollution by simply clearing all the towels & replacing ever day...sometimes more. Also, you can walk along the beach to the right to a peninsular, where you will find a huge statue of Rama, on top of a glass-sided plinth, in which there is a HUGE book......no-one seemed to know what this was all about..there's a garden, with trees dedicated to most countries in the world. It looked like it could have been some Tourism conference, but it was surprising that no-one seemed to know, not even the Exotissimo local guides. On the left there is also a rocky lava promontory, where the waves are spectacular. Overall? Amazing. Don't hesitate to book, if you happy to be in the secluded comfort of a resort setting, not too close to the seamier side of life.....

the first time we came to bali we instantly fell in love with the kindness of the people; the attentions that were reserved to the guests were something that you cannot forget.
Well this hotel is the exception.
The good things? the garden is beautiful and well kept there are several swimming pools and they are all different and nice to look . free internet eveywhere... ( in bali all the hotels have beautiful gardens !!!!)
the bad things? there are so many that it is almost impossible to write all of them!!!!!!.
right now i am sitting in my room that is filled with the smell of insectide... i went to shower with my window open and these guys starts the fumigation in the garden ... of course they will not tell you in advance
before arrival we made only one request a king size bed. when we arrived they do not have. after some talking they have it again but not at once... after 3 hours on the lobby we have the room. an old room with 3 steps to go to the bathroom... furniture soooo old , tapestry stained and carpets that lookes like... i leave that to your imagination
the bathroom has no shower only a tube into which you will have to jump in every morning.
But the real let down is the attitude of some of the employees. Some are really nice people but a good number just do not care ...
I could make a long list of almost dayly big and small annoying things that occured to us but i never read very long reviews so i will try to keep it short. The worst experience we had is at the restaurant on the beach arwana; unfortunately at lunchtime there are not other places to eat... so if are hungry you have to deal with them, every day they make a mistake,
you order an hot dog and after 30 minutes you get a sandwich and if you tell them the answer is " we can change it if you want but will have to wait longer ...) ;
i tell the waitress that i have an alimentary allergy , since her english is worst than mine before she leaves i kindly remind her that i have a medical problem for that... when she leaves us she rolls her eyes up and start grumbling... ( luxury hotel? ahhh lol)
i asked if i can have a simple omelette ( that by way they serve it inside several dishes) answer is simply no chef said no ( in the menu the management writes down that I quote " in our effort to fullfill your expectations, please inform our wait staff should you have any specilaty dietary requirements , food allergies or food intolerance"... again is that luxury? ..
The room is not always cleaned properly ( once they did even forget to make up the room) the wc will always smell funny! there are loose electric wires (with power on )hidden behind the night stand ... you have children?
i could go on ... at the end i blame myself a little because my complaints are the same of some other expert reviewers... that I did not read well enough... see BRUNO_OTTawa for istance.. and others...
i feel sorry because i am sure that there is also good people working here but still it is up to a good management to get rid of the bad weeds... this is not the bali i have loved and remembered.
we have been to bali 6 times this is the worst place for us ,won't be back!!.

Dear castelloSardinia,

Warmest wishes from The Laguna Resort & Spa!

Thank you for staying with us and we sincerely apologize for all the inconveniences that you have experienced along your stay with us.

We do conduct fumigation program three times a week to minimize mosquitoes and to ensure that our guests have a comfortable stay. Therefore, we suggest that our guests close the doors and windows during this process to avoid any unpleasant smell. We regret to learn that this information was not properly communicated to you and has made your stay less enjoyable.

We also regret to learn that we are unable to accommodate your request for a king bed room since our hotel is currently running a full occupancy due to a high season period. Further, thank you for highlighting your concern in regards to the service of our staff at Arwana and please rest assured that this is not the normal service standard our guests are accustomed to. We have shared your feedback with our restaurant team and consequently will use this feedback in our ongoing training program for our improvement.

Your other concerns have been very well noted for our follow up and we do hope despite your concerns, we are still allowed to welcome you back to our resort in the near future.

Exceptionally yours,

Sven Fitjer

We spent our Honeymoon (11 days) in The Laguna.
It is really paradise, but if you take a very critical look at it, you will find a few aspects, which could be changed easily by the hotel but would have a great impact on the stay.
But first, you should be aware that the hotel itself isn't the newest one, but it still is stunning! The area is wonderful, the furniture also, everything is so clean. There is nothing to critisize referring the building etc. It is simply perfect!
The staff is the most friendly I have ever seen in my entire live!!! You feel more than welcome right from the first second!
But...there is a but:
The Staff is extremely friendly, but their english is improvable. I am not expecting them to be native speaker, but mostly I didn't get what I ordered because the staff didn't understand me and they didn't admit it. Some conversations where quite longer then they should be, because you had to describe your problem with hands and feet...
The towel problem...it was so hard to find a place after 11 am at the beach or pool because all the people woke up at 8 am and put their towels around. The hotel itself mentions that they will remove every towel after 1 hour not using the spot but they don't do that at all. so at the end you just lie on the sand.

I really admit that these are minor, minor "problems" and that in fact I am too critical, but these where the only 2 aspects that I didn't like about my stay...

Special thanks to Parmi from the Spa! She is really a diamond!
