Stayed here for 6 nights recently. Arrival welcoming and check in was pretty good considering we arrived around 11pm. Our first room was good (4208), it was a bit smelly from the air con and humidity but otherwise alright. Found it difficult to get a good nights sleep though. Breakfast each day was delicious with a huge selection to choose from. The second day we were there we arrived back from our tour in the morning to find the entire of building four smelled like varnish and a heap of noise coming out of the rooms opposite us. Turns out they were renovating and had not informed us. I raised this issue with the front desk and despite the initial confusion (language barrier) they were happy to upgrade us away from this to a junior suite (3209). These rooms are pretty good and the one we had didn't smell anywhere near as much as the first one.

One thing to watch out for is that when the hotel employees want to come into your room, they will simply knock and open the door without waiting for you to answer. Although we didn't get caught out by this, it would suck if you were in the bathroom or something and didn't hear them come in. My advice is to use the door catch and the 'do not disturb' signs. Although even when we did have the do not disturb sign on the door, we still had one of the employees bashing on the door trying to open it, just to give us a fax. Very annoying indeed! Like I said, use the door catch.

The pricing at the hotel is not that cheap by Bali standards, and this is probably due to the fact you are kind of captive to the resort and the Nusa Dua area. Some of the restaurants offer food at the same price as in Aus. Still the food was delicious and the service friendly and efficient. The spa suffers from the same case, cheap by Aussie standards but wildly expensive for Bali. The treatments themselves are relaxing and the facilities are great.

Overall, Melia Bali is a nice place to stay. The pool is great, the gardens are well maintained and the food is delicious. Just those few negative points about the room, pricing and people busting into your room detract from the place.

appeared in my account a fraudulent charge, which was eventually resolved quickly, however during the process of packing to leave we lack a shorts and beauty products (these last ,only to arrive at our next destination) the clerk of the hotel was harsh and repeatedly tried to contradict forgetting that I am a guest, after contact with security officer, a registration was opened,up to 2 days and so far no one contacted in whole lack of respect for the client, I was dissatisfied with my stay as I travel the world and was the first time that something is missing from my room, just on my honeymoon.

Enjoyable 8 days stay.
The resorts facilities, gardens and pool were excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful which is important when travelling with kids.
A couple of negatives which include the standard of the room. It was clean but looked dated.
My wife and I stayed at this resort 12 years ago and the rooms have not changed and look the same. The family room we stayed in required an interior update. Especially the bathrooms which had a leaking toilet downstairs and are showing signs of wear and tear.
Overall it was a pleasant stay.
Tom B.

Our priority for this holiday was simply to relax, relax, relax. We found the ideal place, Villa 6 at the Melia Bali. From the moment we stepped through the doors all our stresses melted away. Can't wait to return. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so wonderful. Thoroughly recommended.

I gave this hotel three stars only because the gardens were ok, the lobby was massive and the staff were friendly, but thats where the positives stop. We stayed in two rooms during our five day stay and both rooms lacked polish. Our first room was a premium garden room which smelled of sewerage when the toilet was flushed, the shower was in the bath tub with old mouldy shower curtain, the kimono robes smelled used and heavily soaked with old massage oil, air conditioning was weak and on our third night eventually broke down approximately 11pm. We were taken to another room and kindly upgraded to a one bedroom suite with a lounge and dining area. This room was not much better, again the shower was in the tub, and light fitting in one of the toilets was protruding off the ceiling, i'll stop there before the list grows. Maybe i should have booked a lagoon access suite, i believe these rooms are newer. Nonetheless, the pics online did not justify what we had imagined this hotel to be, we were bitterly disappointed and sadly we will perhaps look down the road to a newer establishment if we decide to come back to nusa dua. The food wasnt any better and we chose to eat outside.

We were impressed the moment we stepped into the hotel lobby. It was huge.
The check in staff were efficient and all were proficient in English and a foreign language on top of Indonesian. The check in process was completed in record time.

Our room was clean, bright and the bed was so comfy. The maintenance staff were quick and efficient too. There have been hotels we've stayed at where it seems to take ages to have our room serviced and cleaned. Not so at Melia.

All the restaurant staff, housekeeping, pool and beach staff were so warm friendly and courteous all the time. The hotel and its surrounds were impeccable. The food at El Patio and Lotus was good and value for money. The Maitre de at Lotus and the staff are top notch for attention to service and detail.

Our check out time was extended to 2pm but the hotel has a Departure Lounge for guests whose flight out of Bali is late in the afternoon / evening. There is a library, Wifi, drinks and shower facilities available in the Departure Lounge. What a fantastic facility!

The only thing that marred our stay was that there were no designated areas for smokers and non smokers. Being non smokers the smell of cigarette smoke could get annoying at times, particularly when the guest at the table or sun lounge next to us decided to light up. The good thing is, because the hotel grounds and public areas are so extensive, and the hotel has fans in all areas (except the pool area and beach areas) air circulation is pretty good so it could have been much worse.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Melia very much. The road leading to the Melia is nice and wide and not as crowded as say Kuta. The beach was immaculately maintained and the beach walk way lead to a shopping and restaurant precinct not too far away.

We would definitely stay at the Melia next time we go to Bali.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room. Rooms on higher levels may have better breezes blow through.
