“Great Holiday”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

The four of us (two grandparents, one adult daughter and one baby) had great time. We had adjoining rooms on the third floor and were not troubled by any extraneous noises or disturbances. The staff were consistently polite and friendly. Having a nine month old baby was an unexpected asset. The staff loved him! The gamelan player at breakfast played special songs for him and let him play the instrument. The pool is big enough to cope with the number of guests and the beach was clean and safe. The gardens are a standout. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and the coffee was weak and of poor quality, but the range and quantity of food available was very good. We ate at only one of the many restaurants on site. The food was fresh and good and reasonably priced. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our rooms. Our 'deal' arranged by our Harvey World Travel Agent was also excellent - A$125.00 per room was a great price for such a beautiful resort.

Everything about this hotel is enjoyable. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The food in both the buffet and restaurant settings is fresh and nice tasting, whether you want Asian food or western. I needed help charging my electronics and the front desk assisted me throughout my stay without a problem. My only suggestion would be to make an adults pool with jacuzzi. Thanks to this hotel we had a very comfortable, relaxing vacation.

Lets start with the negative aspects: poor insonorization, you can hear everything that is going on in other rooms and the hallway, so not very good sleep quality. Another thing is the breakfast, although this depends on your particular taste, for me was not that good. Too much noodles and rice and few bread, cheese, ham... Also the smell of all that food, we had to eat breakfast outside. Restaurant Sateria near the beach, too expensive and not very good service. We ended up going to eat at Bali Collection, many options, good quality food and much cheaper. On a positive note: hotel beach, and all the facilities. If you are thinking about paying more for the Lagoon rooms, choose carefully as most of the Lagoon is in the Shade for most part. of the day.

The landscaping at this hotel is lovely and is well maintained. The employees were all very polite. We actually liked this hotel (the Melia) much, much better than the brand new resort with the surprisingly similar name (the Mulia - but that is a separate review.) Nusa Dua is the high end, resort corridor area of Bali, for those who may not be familiar with the island. The Melia's beach is lovely for walks and the hotel has lounge furniture in the sand. Beach/pool towels are checked out to hotel guests down by the pool. The ocean is a permanently shallow area because of the reef. This means it is great kids or just cooling off, but people who want to play in waves or surf will need to go to other areas of the island. The pool area is quite large, and you can get bar service poolside. It does seem like the pool is usually occupied with organized exercise classes of one sort or another (water yoga, water "Jazzercise".) We liked the breakfast buffet. There is every type of food imaginable, including lots of fresh fruit. This seems to be a popular resort - lots of people coming and going, lots of families. I loved the spa. Very clean, great services. Less expensive than high end resorts in the United States, but not as in expensive as some of the "local" store front places offering spa services around the island. I liked the cleanliness and professionalism of this spa, as well as the delightful tea they provided prior to my services. The resort has wi-fi, room service menus, and a program of children's activities. There were a wide variety of ages at this resort. There is a surprisingly fantastic museum on the hotel grounds.

Room Tip: No special advice needed. Guests can just decide if they want ocean views or not.
