It can actually be a perfect hotel for family holiday although you can tell that the rooms are old already. Despite of that, worry no more when you have kids or to bring a nanny for your kids cause the room is provided with a kind of corner bed for extra person. About public area, this hotel i would say the best for what you looking for in Nusa Dua. The soft sandy beach, long integrated pool, even toddlers' pool, garden, ponds, chess field, jogging track, and Bali Collection is just steps away. The property is big but you won't feel it's too big because the surrounding is nice to walk by. I have to say it is a smart move to divide guests to have breakfast in some restaurants they have, so that it's not too crowded.

We stayed 2 nights on the weekend and when we arrived there was a bunch of groups checking in at the front desk. My mother has been a member of this hotel chain, so of course the front office staff greeted her very friendly. By that, we expected a bit better service than usual. But that night we were a bit disappointed because they putted us at the back near the service door area. In excuse, they are full and have no more 3 rooms next to each other. I asked for a king size but the lady escorted us said they don't have any more rooms. I was ok with that. But then i called to call center just by curious if there's still any available standard king size room. Guess what? They do. After came back to the front desk, they promised me they will change the bed the next day. Result, none. Bed still the same when I came back from excursion the next day. Having a long day made me not even bothered anymore to call them. I expected them to say something the next day we check-out but nothing came to me.

This is by far the best RESORT hotel I've stayed in anywhere. The grounds were beautiful, peaceful and quiet, large and spacious with lots of greens and beautifully manicured. The Lagoon Pool and River Pool were really nice, suitable for adults and kids alike. A quieter pool, for those who want to have the pool to themselves, head for the pool next to the fitness gym.

The gym itself was more than adequate, with the right amount of equipment for holiday fitness workouts. It was good enough for my daughter to keep up her exercises as a competitive swimmer. There were treadmills, cycles, ellipticals, step machines, and standard weight machines and free weights. The squash court was useful to keep up the cardio fitness, and have some fun at the same time.

The beach in front of the hotel was lovely - a wide beach with really clean white sand, and lots of sub chairs. Because the hotel frontage was long, you could have lots of privacy on the beach while sunning, and anyway the beach seemed like a private beach.

The rooms were huge, and everything you would expect from a Grand Hyatt. The great thing about the room is the alcove with the balinese style sitting area, which was actually the size of a queen bed, and could have slept a couple easily. We are a family of four and took two rooms. Each room itself could have taken all four of us, without even needing any extra beds to be brought in. We were there 14-18/6/2014, and our only regret was we got a garden view room. When we go back, the next time it has to be a sea view room. The constant cool sea breeze would have made the any sea view room cool for sleeping without the aircon.

Food is surprisingly affordable for a 5 star beach front resort. Tip: take breakfast in the room. Dining in on the a la carte break fast is adequate, more comfortable, and cheaper still than the buffet breakfast. Plus kids always love room service.

Grand Hyatt Bali is a definite recommend.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view rooms, level 3 and above if available. Definitely worth the extra cost.

I went for a conference with my mom to Bali for a week. Its a great resort with all necessary facilities to enjoy a holiday. Beautiful, tranquil with an excellent spa and a stunning beach. Its grandeur adds to the experience. Its in Nusa Dua and right across the road is the "Bali Collection" - an open air shopping area with a nice art market to buy souvenirs, brand stores and a variety of restaurants. The only problem was that the wifi didn't work properly despite calling the service provider to fix the problem.
My personal fav was the breakfast by the beach. Highly recommended.

It is a stunningly beautiful and huge resort. We stayed here for 3 nights in a garden facing room which were spacious and comfortable. But its a really long walk from the lobby to the rooms, so we always had to plan in such a manner that we could avoid frequent visit to the rooms.

The hotel in itself offers so many activities that you can spend 2-3 days without actually moving out of the resort.Things you can do include swimming(more than 3 pools), spa, cycling, private beach, walk around the quiet and calm gardens, visit to the temple within the hotel complex, night market (local goods offered at good prices), gym etc.Kids in particular have a blast with slides in the various swimming pools.

For the water sport fans, its a 10 mins drive from the hotel to a nearby beach. For all you grocery needs you can visit Bali Collection, right opposite the hotel which also houses a lot of shopping options and restaurants too. Infact Hyatt is the only hotel in nusa dua which is at a walking distance from this market so no hassel of taking a cab.

Hyatt is a great place to relax and unwind so i would suggest to not plan other activities outside the hotel .

However the breakfast was not in line with our expectation as the spread offered was too small with very limited options for vegetarians.

I was in the hotel for 6 days. Overall the experience was average. I agree with others that the buffet breakfast was lasking. More like a roadhouse experience than a memorable meal to start each day. They did have good expresso in the cafe.
I asked for a bandaid at 2 points. They needed to call the in house Dr... a bit much for the simple request.
So what is this place recommended for? Definately for a conference venue. They did that well.
I would also say it would be great for families with pre-teen kids as the pools are fabulous and the resort is spacious. The shopping/cafe complex across the street will give a different perspective as needed.
Beach.... ok, but neighboing property beach is dirty and full of water/walking hazards, so beware. Low tide would be great for getting littleones into the ocean for the first time.

Overall...I'd go back just to relax....and take the family. It is not cheap, but worth the expense to be self contained and yet having the giant grounds and beach to roam.

Room Tip: Ground Floor as they have nice garden setting veranda's

Stayed for 2 nights for business conference. Comments from colleagues were that the breakfast buffet only offers limited variety. The locations for the breakfast buffet was good as there were 3 restaurants to choose from. The meeting facility is well equipped so the meeting went well. However, unfortunately lunch and dinner were only given set menus with no other menu options nor buffet available. The airconditioning wasn't functioning well, once the technician came to fixed it, things were fine.

There are some shopping area/spa/restaurants just across the road from the hotel, so it is convenient.

The hotel is grand, as in big and sprawling. It may old but is an institution in Bali. The entrance and lobby are impressive. We stayed here for 4 nights when my husband was a speaker in an international conference. Our room was good sized, with a king bed, a sitting area, a huge day bed and a balcony overlooking the garden and a bit of the ocean. The bathroom was modern, had separate tub and shower and can be viewed from the bedroom if you want but had wooden shutters for privacy. Our room was maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the lobby but it was okay because the gardens, as you walk around, were so pretty and it was near the conference venue of my husband. The pools of the property looked really nice especially for kids as it had many slides. We had no problems with the wifi. We had our breakfasts in the open dining area near us; I think it was the Garden Cafe. Food was good as you can expect. The atmosphere here is truly relaxing. We would come here again if given the chance, as we know that this hotel is considered the Grand Dame of Nusa Dua.
