We chanced upon Amanusa while researching for Bali wedding venues and it struck us as different from the usual Bali beach weddings. Our recce trip down to the actual site really sealed the deal for us. The place was grand looking with a stone wall that extends high up, perched on a hill top overlooking the golf course. The orange bougainvillas juxtaposed against the blueness of the swimming pool created a picturesque scene. This place is very exclusive, and you'll feel like you're in paradise away from everything.

Nisa and Pak was most helpful throughout our wedding preparation, arranging for food tasting, ensuring our guests were transported to the wedding area. Everything was professionally done, greatly reducing our stress of and overseas wedding. The level of service was excellent! We were amazed to find our villa's private pool filled with red rose petals the morning after the wedding. Everything was done to perfection. It's a place we definitely want to come back to.

Thank you Nisa and Pak for your warmth and kindness, and for the amazing memories you created on our wedding day!

Room Tip: Worth getting a Villa with a private pool

My husband and I recently attended the Moss Wood Wine dinner which was a special event put on by the Amanusa at their Italian Restaurant. The wines were amazing and it was brilliant to be able to speak to the owners of the winery themselves Clare and Keith Mugford. The food pairing was excellent with the slow braised duck mushroom ragu being one of my favorites along with the Chocolate nemesis cake for desert. My congratulations to the Executive Chef Glen Bowman who delivered a brilliant meal both in terms of presentation and taste. The Amanusa is a beautiful hotel and it was an absolute delight to sit on the terrace and enjoy a few drinks before the dinner overlooking Nusa Dua with an amazing view and a full moon. It was also a pleasure to chat to Sean the General Manager who personally welcomed all the guests, made everyone feel at home and ensured we all had a fabulous night. Thank you Amanusa for a fantastic evening of ambience, food and drink delivered to perfection. We will be back! - Rhonda and Nyoman

My first visit to Bali was definitely one of my favourite destinations whilst travelling around Indonesia. Amanusa was our first resort in Bali and we stayed for two nights before moving North.
We were quite tired when we arrived but soon perked up when we were shown to our suite - this time we'd been upgraded to a private pool suite. It was just what we needed to get some quality relaxation and sunbathing time in! We were very lucky to have the unique experience of visiting during Nyepi, so we had a whole day of relaxation inside the hotel resort. The food and drink was top notch and the hotel had put on some complimentary activities, including sunset cocktails on the terrace. As there was no traffic noises or lights as it began to get dark you could see every star in the sky - it was magical!

The view from Amanusa is spectacular. it perches on top on the hill overlooking the ocean afar, surrounds itself by a golf course on it's premise. the pool is absolutely astounding.
The room is very well designed, everything is just perfect.
Of course, the well trained staff is what Aman is so amazing.
We had the amanusa massage, and it was great, highly recommended.

I'm writting a review about the restaurant, I went to the resort for dinner around a week ago. Just would like to compliment the service, it was great and the staff was extremely friendly!!! Not only that, the food was also very nice! Loved the thai green curry!
The chef, Choi was also very nice and friendly! We got a chance to chit chat with her.

Overall it was such a nice dinner!

We had an excellent 5-night stay at Amanusa in mid-March 2014 - here are some details that aren't as frequently covered in other reviews:

(1) March is the hotel's quietest time of year. Frequently, we were the only people in the restaurants and had the entire beach to ourselves one day. Even when other guests were around, Amanusa feels very open and never crowded. Service was consistently anticipatory, friendly and very efficient.

(2) We were in a OCEAN VIEW PAVILION that had two outdoor areas: a small patio with a 2-seat dining/writing table in the front, and a shaded bale for reading/resting in the back. The air conditioned interior area is on the small side, and the beds are queen size (not king). There is both an indoor and an outdoor shower. Housekeeping is outstanding, and the room is refreshed nearly every time you step out for a bite to eat or to visit the pool/beach. There are 30 accommodations that are available to guests.

(3) A former pavilion has been converted to a GYM/FITNESS SUITE that is only used by one guest at a time. Equipment is a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical trainer, two yoga mats, lightweight dumbbells and a rubber ball/bosu ball. Unlike some newer properties, this is not a fully equipped fitness center but nevertheless adequate with clean, modern equipment.

(4) Another former guest pavilion has been converted to a SPA SUITE for either couple or individual use. I had a massage that was very well done. As is the case with the gym suite, note that Amanusa does not have a full-service spa but rather a converted former guest suite where treatments are now performed.

(5) The BEACH CLUB is a 5 minute drive, and the lobby attendants will shuttle you back and forth whenever you like. The beach area is private to Amanusa and has 9 shaded bales, each of which is accompanied by two sun loungers w/umbrella in front of them. The beach club has a small kitchen for lunch and snacks, a shower and washroom facilities. To the left and right of the Amanusa beach are beach facilities for two much larger hotels, but you can only see them by walking along a paved path by the waterline.

(6) The FOOD was outstanding, and the chef is very personable. There is an shaded outdoor restaurant serving western/Thai/Indonesian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an Italian restaurant (with both air conditioned indoor and open air outdoor seating) that serves dinner only. These were both highlights of the stay, and the food was consistently delicious.

(7) The SWIMMING POOL is huge and the architectural highlight of the property. During the morning and at midday, it can be difficult to find a shaded place to sit.

(8) Amanusa is extremely convenient to the AIRPORT. A representative will meet your arriving flight BEFORE the visa-on-arrival, immigration or customs areas and speed you through all three of them such that you don't have to wait. The drive to the hotel is only twenty minutes.

(9) Compared with other Aman properties, the LIBRARY is small but still stocked with books in multiple languages. The library and boutique are just off the lobby, which is open air.

Room Tip: room numbers in the low 20's are very close to the main building / lobby area

We stayed for 5 nights. The property itself is very old but it is still nice and pretty. Nothing is special about it. The GM was welcome us on the arrival but we found he was a bit strange when he was talking to us but his mind was somewhere else then we guessed he must be busy but we didn't care much about him. The room is very Balinese and modern. The only thing that made our trip very special was the chef and her food. It was an art as she did cook for us every night with all different taste and passion in her food. We love her and her food. Chef Chau is an asset of the business and the property. We hope to come back for another visit as of course we would love to see her again.
