My friends and i stayed in sofitel luxury resort & spa nusa dua for few days in April. We were extremely disappointed for the house keeping services in the resort. Its worse than a 3 stars hotel. It took us more than 45 mins for checking in and the welcome drinks served 15 mins later than we arrived. Then we went to the room and found out that the tea pot and cups were being used by someone else but the house keeping didnt clean or replace it. The tea bags and amenties in the bathroom were not refilled in a proper way. Some tea bags and conditioners were missing. There was no turn-down service in the evening, no welcome fruit basket or no folded tower treats. The lights in my friend's room is not working and she cant call to the house keeping or reception as the phone in the room is out of order too. She need to whatsapp us so we can able to call to the house keeping. After fixing the lights, she found out that the door for the connecting room wouldnt be locked. She asked the staff to fix it however their answer is : they can sure that no one can open the door ! Instead of looking for a key and lock the door. I am wonder if this is a 5 stars LUXURY resort standard?!!!

We stayed in pool access room for 3 nights in May. We think their Pool access room is one of the best we stayed so far, it offers some privacy and we feel like we were staying at a private pool villa as the pool was not crowd all the time.

We particular like the beach front area, although is not the best beach we ever been but the area offers some privacy and it is very closed to the hotel room within 2 mins walking distance.

There is two restaurants within the hotel - one is like a dining hall for breakfast and the other is a more upscale one with serving Italian and grilled seafood. We tried both - food is not too bad with international standard. I particular like the fresh juice section at the breakfast buffet as you can pick your own fruits or vegetables and they will mix your own drinks for you.

As a Accor member, we found that the services of this Sofitel is not really up to 5 stars standard. A lot of staff are fairly new and most of them do not exactly know what is available within the hotel. Waitress at the restaurant for breakfast are not too helpful and the staff who helped us to check out had a very bad attitude as well - we tried to ask several questions about out bill - whilst she answered our questions, she doesn't seem like want to help out and being a bit annoyed with some questions we asked. For housekeeping, our towels were disappeared (not refill and old one gone too) and the safe and phone were out of services during out stay.

I would give this hotel a score of 3.5 - with nice facilities and room but services definitely need improvement

I stayed there with my family from 26th until 30th April 2014 in room 2005 (Luxury with pool access) and noticed the followings:

1. The man who escorted us to our room was very friendly and polite. However, his mobile phone rang while in the room and he briefly answered the call. He should never have let his mobile phone ring at the first place and especially answer a call in front of the hotel guests as a matter of courtesy.

2. The hand rail leading to the pool in the balcony was wobbly and very loose on the very first night and disconnected at one end soon afterwards. I asked the hotel to remove it for safety reasons and was told that it would get fixed the next day. Right until i checked out, it never got fixed and i even had to initiate the follow up in a daily basis with the reception.

3. The housekeeping quality in that particular room was below standard for this kind of hotel where at one occassion i had to ask for another cleaning of the room as they missed the obvious water marks on the bathroom's massive mirror and taps, spider webs in the shower and toilet areas, water marks on the round glass tables.

4. It appeared the finishing of that particular room was quite shocking where you could see some marks from the cement at the black floors, poor painting quality on some areas such as the edges of the connecting door and large mirror on top of the beds, some wall cracks above the beds, water marks on the wall next to the sliding door (underneath the AC), and the connecting door wasn't installed evenly inside its frame. All of these issues were probably caused during the construction phase of the hotel.

5. The beach area needs more works to make it looks nicer and more attractive; more grassy area perhaps?

6. When we were trying to check out on 30th Apr 2014 at 6 AM early morning, we had to wait for approximately 15 minutes to be served by the reception as apparently there was only 1 of them at the desk. There should have been more receptionists to facilitate speedy check-out process at any given time in a day.

Given it's a fairly new hotel, i certainly hope that the level of service and infrastructure can and should improve over time.

Room Tip: Get the one with pool access
