We stayed here for 5 nights on our first trip to Bali and can't recommend it highly enough! We chose it based on the reviews we read on trip advisor and can honestly say that it lived up to our expectations. We found this to be quite a quirky little hotel with a great pool and wonderful, friendly staff.

The hotel is located is just off a busy road, but is tucked away so once you're there you don't realise just how close you are to it. We did attempt to walk to a local Warung one day, which would have taken about 10-15 mins but the road was pretty busy and it was so hot that we ended flagging down a taxi after about 5mins - the air conditioned car was a god send in that heat! After that we used taxis to get everywhere - they're cheap and plentiful and probably the easiest way to travel. The staff at the hotel were always more than happy to order taxis and help us to tell the drivers where we wanted to go.

Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable although we didn't have the best view! if you have the option we'd recommend asking for a room with a pool view, rather than a hill view. We were fine with the view we had though as the rate we paid for our room was so good.

The hotel serves breakfast in a dining area beside the pool. Breakfasts were simple but delicious and we recommend both the french toast and the pancakes. Unfortunately they don't have a restaurant for lunch/dinners but they are more than happy to order food in for you and plate it up - you can eat in the dining area or your room if you prefer. I unfortunately had a bad stomach after our first dinner in Bali (at a beach restaurant we found ourselves and now regret going to!) so my husband ordered food in for the few days I wasn't well and couldn't eat - he thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was a relief that he didn't have to go find somewhere to eat by himself while I stayed in bed ill. Once I was better we went out to eat at restaurants recommended by the manager David, both of which were great. We particularly enjoyed Kat's Kitchen, a local Thai restsurant which we went to on our last night, had we stayed longer we would definitely have returned there.

By far the main asset for this hotel though is the staff, we found them to be incredibly friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. They were always happy to help, whether it was booking taxis, ordering food or arranging day trips for you. One highlight of our trip was a tandem paraglide arranged by David, a fantastic way to see some the Balinese coastline. If you stay at this hotel then the paragliding is a must do activity!

If you're looking for a 5 star luxury hotel then this is not the place for you. However if you want a fantastic stay in a comfortable, friendly hotel at a reasonable price then don't think twice! If we return to Bali we will definitely stay here again.

Once again we have had the time of our lives at Ellies. There is nowhere else you should stay if you are looking for a beautiful, clean and intimate hotel. The staff are all lovely and David & Caroline and wonderful hosts. If you are looking to book days away they will advise on various places and restaurants and also book drivers for you. They have so much knowledge about the area and give great advice to make your holiday hassle free. When we were there it appeared, like ourselves, other guests had been making it their regular hotel of choice. The breakfasts are lovely and the rooms are clean with hot showers. If you don't fancy going out for dinner, takeaways can be ordered in for you and delivered to you - even to the point of being set out for you on the roof top terrace which is beautiful at night. Also, you can have a massage on the roof top terrace. Just ask Dave to arrange same for you. You feel, when you stay at Ellies, that you have your own private villa because it is so peaceful and tranquil, even when the hotel is full. The breakfast area is a perfect place to start your day and the poolside is excellent for some morning sun. Just ask Dave or Caroline about shopping, spas, restaurants and beaches and they will give you their expert opinion which is second to none. I would recommend anybody going to Bali to stay at Ellies, even if it is for a short time (although most folk end up staying longer). I hope everything remains the same at Ellies until the next time we can return.

My husband & I stayed at Ellies based on trip advisor recommendation. It was absolutely like the way the reviews describe it. However let me describe it in my words.

The location is almost on a highway looking area where there arn't any other hotels around. It may be difficult to locate it in case you go there on our own the first time around. We had an airport pick up & reached there very easily.

Our room was huge with a view of the pool & a distant view of the sea. Pleasant view.

The service is awesome here. While the hotel kitchen operates for breakfast only, they have a host of menus from which you can call for food & the same is 'room serviced' to you. They also have adequate cars/taxis to take you around for day time or late night outs. The drivers we came across were also extremely courteous & well mannered.

David (hotel owner) recommended us to a spa & also organized our booking. I would not rate the spa too highly. David also recommended sightseeing options, booked our rafting, suggested restaurants. All of which were AWWWESSOOOMMMEEE!!

The best part is the place is not run to fleece some money out of you but to simply ensure that you have a great time.

Loved the place. If we ever go to Bali again I would love to stay here. Even if you are not looking for a bargain you should still consider staying at Ellies.

Room Tip: Our room no was 104, I liked it.

I can't count how many times I have stayed at Ellie's now! it's just the most amazing place which is all due to David and Caroline and the team. They are fantastic and will do anything for you.

The rooms are cheap, clean, spacious and the showers have great water pressure! Breakfast is always yummy and we love the warung down the road whcih you can walk to or get delivery from.

I love the fact that Ellie's is small and not overcrowded. The location is close to the airport and a good little hub for getting around the south of Bali. We have hired scooters and cars and have had great fun exploring Bali. It is a little hard to find for taxi driver's but I use maps to show them and I can also direct the drivers where to go which helps a lot!

I recommend Ellie's 100% and am already planning my next trip! Thanks Dave :)

Room Tip: There are lots of stairs so if you struggle with that, request a room by the pool. There is sometime...

I've been staying at Ellie's for 3 weeks and highly recommend it.

Very comfortable and relaxed setting. Nicely furnished. Easy access to Kuta Beach, Nusa Da. Very reasonably priced.

Many of the other guests are regulars who come every year. I can see why.

The staff is fantastic and provide great services. Rental car ($15/day). Laundry ($3 for several days of clothing). Ordering out food from selection of very good local restaurants ($7 entries). Breakfasts are included and very good. There is an open air massage parlour on the roof balcony ($15 for great 1 hour massage!). What is there not to like?

If you are a paraglider, this is the place to stay. It is a convenient drive to Timbas. The owner flies almost every day and can introduce you to the site and keep you up to date on conditions at the site.

Bali's best kept secret - Ellie's is the best place to stay and experience the true Bali experience. You can go behind the gate in Nusa Dua, but if you want to feel the magic, stay at Ellie's. If you are a paraglider or hang glider - this is the place to stay, for Dave is "the man" for local flying club and Timbus site overview, every morning you can count on the up to date wind-fly report. Flying with Dave at Timbus was a blast - and if your not a pilot and desire to fly, tandems can be arranged.
Ellie's was our home for 2 weeks, the daily service was outstanding, full made to order breakfast each morning served @ cabana, full daily maid service-clean rooms, and best .... heavenly Bali decor, pillows and bed! The food was excellent in am, but was nice, to use cabana in the evenings to have dinner delivered and enjoy poolside. Staff was very fun & helpful - always pleased to help - made us feel @ home. Anything you want is at your finger tips with loca flare when you stay @ Ellie's. Airport transfers, driver rentals and car rentals can be arranged at the front desk, in addition currency exchange and local recommendations, on of our personal favorites... Pepenero's which delivered dinner 70% of our stay, Bali's best local massage therapist on the rooftop @ your time, and the best thing - Dave & Carolyn - amazing people and hotelier's! We love Ellie's and will be back!

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in Aug 2012. The hotel/guest house, although small, has been beautifully decorated and furnished. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows are as nice as any 5 star hotel we have stayed in. The rooms are large and usually quiet unless there is a ceremony at a local temple, but even those usually do not go on at night time. The A/C is quiet and efficient. The management has done a good job about cleanliness of the room and bathrooms. The breakfast is delicious and adequate. There is a Delightful and very reasonable local restaurant a few blocks to the left on the main road. The hotel has the name of the restaurant and some local menus.Free WiFi is available is accessible from the lobby, restaurant and pool areas. The main negative of Ellies was the fact that our rooms were on the 3rd floor with no elevator and I was having fairly severe pain in my knee. The management would have been happy to put me in a lower room but they were all occupied. So if you have a problem with stairs or knees, it would be good to request a 1st floor room when you make your reservations. Our flight out of Bali didn't leave until after midnight and since there were unoccupied rooms on our floor, David allowed us to stay in the room until we needed to leave for the airport at no cost, even though the usual checkout time is 12 noon. We Greatly Appreciated David's generous and accommodating help. Except for the 3rd floor being a problem we enjoyed our stay at Ellies.

Room Tip: If you have problems with stairs request a room on the first floor when making your reservations.
