As I rich business man , I rather enjoyed the peaceful surrounding of Frangipani, Checking in was simple and stress free, the staff went out of there way to make me feel welcomed and all my needs were catered too! Would definitely reccomend this to fellow Business men looking for a quick get away or even just a destination for a couples escape!

We stayed 2 night at the Frangipani in the vip room rice field . The room really well decorated and clean . The outside bathroom was a really original and zen idea . The common area with the pool and the little lovely restaurant were really well taken care off. There is enough space for everybody and at no time of the day It felt noisy or crowded . It was like having a private corner of paradise. The staff really kind . I was surprise after reading the comment to find out that the french owner of the villa and her son are actually really nice people despite what other comment says . Also regarding many of the complains I ve been reading about the extra in the minibar and at the restaurant I would like to spend a good word about that.
First I think that many people should check and be aware of wath is included when they book the room and in this case it won´t come as a surprise!!!
Then I found the prices at the restaurant really honest and correct and the food was really nice and fresh home made!
So I give 100% support at this family run hotel with a really really nice concept.
The only negative thing is the beach in lovina wich is dirty and people are harressing you all the time ( that has of course nothing to do with the hotel managment)
Go for it!

We are catalan honeymooners and spent four wonderful days at Frangipani. The pool side room was tastefully decorated, spacious and with abeautiful open air bathroom. Stuff were always helpful and the owner, Brigitte and her sons were willing to give the best tips to make our stay enjoyable. We felt like home. The hotel is right in front of the beach, amazing location! It is very nice to walk along it and get to talk to local people. The body massage we had there was just great!
We went dolphin watching and the waterfall excursion were incredible experiences. Breakfast and food in general was georgeous. If you are looking for a quite, relaxing place and with plenty of interesting things to do this is it!

my daughter and I loved the Frangipani! right on the beach, away from the hustle and bustle but just 10 minutes walk into Lovina. lovely spacious rooms (we had 3 consecutively) with amazing de luxe open air bathrooms. big comfortable beds, quiet airco, wifi, fridge, ample wardrobes, bright colours with dark wood and a combi of modern with balinese furniture. lovely swimmingpool big enough to swim my laps. great garden with lounge beds in the sun or the gazebo for a bit of shade, with the sound of the ocean in the background. Frangipani has only 7 rooms, 3 more are under construction. In april, off season, only 2 or 3 rooms were in use so it was nice and quiet.
Brigitte, the french owner, and her son Camille made us feel very welcome, as did all the other staff. Brigitte arranged all sort of trips for us or just a driver for the day (ask for Gede!) and advised very well on places to eat, to party or to go and see. breakfast (included) was delicious with beautiful brown bread and a choice of whatever you like including real coffee. nasi or a salade or spring rolls for lunch were made upon order so really fresh and very tasty, as was the coconut chicken or sate or tuna tartare for dinner when we were too lazy to go out again. Ketut made us fresh watermelon juice to drink in the swimmingpool. Two girls came over on request to give us the best massage in bali (rp 10.000 each) and we had ample to compare.
upon arrival the first night when wanting to go to sleep, our room had an unexpected invasion of ants. the staff tried all sorts of things but they kept crawling out of their hole right into our room and bathroom, so we were quickly shown and helped into another even bigger room. this last one had a bathroom including a bonsai tree and with a view: when going in in the dark at 5 in the morning, still sleepy with only half open eyes, the sunrise was spectacular so i was wide awake at once and crabbed my camera!
Lovina is a great place to spend some days, lively, with nice places to eat (try Warung Apple), terrasses for cocktails and Kantin 21 for late night drinks and live music.
From Frangipani we went for trips along the north-west coast: Menangan island is a beauty, great day of snorkeling and boating with beautiful temples as a bonus. we enjoyed our trip to Atlas pearl farm for a tour and to buy real south sea pearls. the bhuddist temple was sereneand the dolfins jumped and dived around our boat on the dolphin tour.
after 3 nights we moved on to Munduk (doing a 3 week trip around the island), meaning to go back south for the last 4 days, but we cancelled our hotel in Seminyak and went back to the bliss of Frangipani (therefore the 3rd room).
Next time we go for a relaxed holiday in the sun, we just go back to Frangipani!

Room Tip: all rooms are good but the VIP rooms giving to the swimmingpool are great

Our family stayed here in January 2012 and it was one of the best hotels on our trip. Brigitte and her staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Great location and fantastic gardens.

The kids had a ball and really enjoyed playing with the pet rabbit and Mumi the hotel dog!! The food was great and their new chef always had some great ideas for our children (we really enjoyed some of his specials).

Highly recommend the dolphin trip, snorkelling and fishing options (will try the diving next time!). Everything is close by and easy walking distance by beach or quiet road.

Worth paying extra for the VIP poolside rooms as the interconnecting doors made it ideal for our family and provided privacy when needed!

Can't wait to go back. This is what Bali used to be like 30 years ago!! Avoid the Kuta crush - do yourself a favour.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are perfect for families

My wife and I both enjoyed the charm and hospitality at Frangipani where the flowers' fragrance actually permeates the breeze. As an orchid hobbyist, I enjoyed talking with the gardener about his many orchids thriving in trees and pots throughout the property. We appreciated the comfortable pool and pleasant grounds separated from the beach by a small wall. One day we were treated by a local musician playing music near the pool as we rested in the shade. This is a great location from which to take day trips in the North of Bali. We also found the staff and the owner, Brigette, to be pleasant and eager to chat with anyone with a genuine interest in the local people and culture.

This is a beautiful hotel. Just lovely to sit and relax in, right on the waterfront, with lovely friendly and helpful service staff and a nice, simple, tasty menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It was also nice to have the two dogs (Bella and Mumi) there to keep you company.

The problem we had was with the way they charged, in Euro's, then used their own exchange rate to make the final payment in country. We also weren't informed at all about a 5% service charge until we arrived - most other places we stayed at had all govt and service charges included in the price. And the rate changed for different charges.

Overall I would recommend the place as it is lovely, but be aware of the additional charges and my advice is pay up front - even with the 4.5% paypal charge!
