“A piece of serenity”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Stayed in this resort for 3 days after living 1 year in Bali and I must say it has been a relieve. The resort captures an atmosphere of serenity. The low buildings with straw rooftops and the amazing garden surrounding the paths of the resort breath nature and peace. The rooms are spacious and offer all your needed amenities. The room and all areas are well maintained and clean. The resort, including two swimming pools and private beach offer all that is needed for a relaxating and rejuvenating stay! Amazingly friendly staff, which becomes harder to find in Bali these days. Hope to be back soon!

Room Tip: Take the rooms in the back, close to the beach and have a nice view!

This resort is located in the Sanur Area which is quiet and peaceful, suitable if you are looking for quiet place to relax and just want to avoid the crowd. For those like to disco, dance and having fun night time, this is not the resort you are looking for.

Check-in is smooth, room is a bit old, but still well maintained. Cleanliness is acceptable, and service and ground staffs are friendly and approachable. For the Bathroom, the cleanliness and size are ok, just to recommend instead of using curtain for the bathing area, it would be good if the glass divider can be installed. This will show a better image and also looks elegant. For curtain, when it is wet and not dried properly there will be some mouldy smells inside the bathroom.

The overall facility is nice, with beach just behind the resort, and also 2 swimming pools which is good to chill out. Breakfast looks Ok, though we didn't eat inside the resort.

Overall, with price about USD 65 to USD 75, it is quite value of money, and if you with limited budget but would like to enjoy resort style escape, this place might be suitable.

Dear Teddy A,

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. As you may have seen from your stay we are working on our rooms now, including bathroom changed, new roofs, the 3 tier rice paddy and adjacent pond next to our lounge which will be opened by the middle of the month, with a new menu and 3 48 inch TV's and a giant projector to catch all the live sport from around the world.

Having travelled to Bali many times, we love coming back to Sanur for our quiet time out. This is our second time at the Mecure in Sanur. We love it for its ambience, peaceful tropical gardens, and little squirrels that zoom amongst the trees. The beautiful gardens create good privacy for the downstairs suites. Beds are comfy ,and the ensuites have good showers. Aircons work well, and are quiet.Pool areas are spacious, and never seem to be crowded. With the beach on your doorstep, what more could you ask for. Great hotel for the price.
Staff were wonderful, with nothing being a problem. Some excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. Good tailor just around the corner.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor suite if you have trouble with stairs.

Firstly, the entrance is huge, the photo on their website does not do it justice. The beautiful manicured gardens around the stone paths lead you to traditional Balinese styled rooms. They are very nicely decorated with excellent aircon, big TV, bar fridge and kettle with provisions to make a cuppa.
There are 2 pools, the one near the restaurant is small and got quite warm in the afternoon sun, and the larger pool remained cooler as it was quite deep. The hotel is right on the beach and we did not come across any hawkers during our time there. You can walk right up the beach path past all the major hotels until the end of the street, which takes you back in a big loop if you want to wander around the block. Out on the street side, there are plenty of nice places to eat which will cost around $5 a meal and drink and heaps of massage/beauty parlours (not dodgy ones!) which offer 1hr massages for around $5 or total beauty packages of mani/pedi/facial/massage for about $20 and will take a good 3hrs. The Mercure is in a really great location, they have a free shuttle bus that goes back and forth to Hardy's market various times throughout the day, great for souvenirs and snacks. My hubby got sick during our stay and the hotel staff sent us flowers, fruit hampers and a lovely card. We would highly recommend staying there!

Dear Suzilee_81

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We were sorry to hear your husband was ill during his visited and do hope he is much better. We are looking at putting a sun sail shade across the Nakula Pool to try and limit the sun in the water, as we agree it does get a little warm. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope you will return to Bali and if Sanur here with us at Mercure.

Glad I got the chance to finally stay in Sanur more importantly the Mercure. Well hosted, well feed and well and truly relaxed. Sanur for it's part is a very relaxed add to that a great hotel and I'm one very happy traveller. Bed was amazing as was the food. I read a lot of the reviews and thought it was worth trying. To my satisfaction I won't be taking all reviewers on their word any more. Word from the wise try it and make your own mind up.

Very good hotel for its price. Staff were generally extremely helpful and friendly. On arrival we were allocated a double room not the twin we booked. It took several conversations, leading to a meeting with the manager to resolve this. Eventually we were allocated a twin room but communication with us with poor- maybe a language issue? The beach-side location is lovely and the swimming pools were very well designed and inviting. Food was good and well priced. Service from the beach bar could be slow and the staff sometimes seemed under pressure.

Overall a very good option if staying in the area and I would recommend it.
