An older hotel, off the main road,a 5 minute walk to beach.First night had to put up with mosquito spray that they had sprayed the room with before i got there.Told them next days not to spray, much better.Basic clean room with hot water/air con/tv and a great buffet breakfast, you also have the free use of 3 great swimming pools at Swastika Hotel. next door...well worth checking out.

This place was recommended by our dive guide for our one day dive trip to Nusa Penida. He booked the rooms for us for Rp300.000 per room per night. My friend said that this was used to be one of the swastika hotel but then changed to Ramayana Hotel. So they are old hotels but new management. At the day we arrived, the staff at the hotel reception was very unfriendly and was reluctant to serve us. We – mostly girls unloaded big dive gear bags and suitcases from our car, but not a single staff helped us out, although there were 5-6 staff sitting at the kitchen stairs 2 meters from the car, watching us. I asked to the staff at the reception but he did not respond. He was too busy asking my friend for the room payment. My friend said we will pay later when we checked out, and then he asked and kept our original ID cards as insurance. We feel it was a bit unnecessary for Bali standard, especially since he knows the local dive guide who made the bookings for us. After I insisted that he called for a staff to help with the bags he finally called for one, though all bags by then have been dragged by my friends and the car driver to the reception. When the staff took us to our rooms, we were shocked to see that he brought us to the back side of the hotel where there were two rooms side by side (no.15 and 16) inside of what look like a dark garage. The view in front of our rooms was a wall 4-5 meters with small ventilation and 2 bicycles parked. When the staff opened the rooms we could hardly breathe. The old mould odor inside the room was unbearable, seems the room has not been opened for months and being inside a “garage” with no air circulation makes it worse. After we put on the AC for 15 minutes either the smell subsided or we got used to it. We can't tell whether it's night or day when we were inside the room. The pillow case also smells really bad from a bad laundry, the bed sheet and towels were worn out. The bathroom was luckily clean, shower pressure was good and hot water ran well. We saw there were other rooms located at the front part of the hotel building facing a small garden. Hoping they maybe better than our rooms, we asked for a room switch but they said all rooms are full. We asked if we can get other rooms and willing to pay higher price at the next door’s swastika hotel since they are under the same family ownership but the staff said the swastika hotel is operated by different management, so we cannot switch. We thought about moving to another hotel, but with all the gear bags we had and the car rental had left, it was too troublesome to move. So we had to bear with it. Luckily we only stayed for 2 nights here. It’s not worth for anyone on a budget trip to choose this place to save money. Better pay a Rp100.000 more and get a more decent room than here. We have stayed in two other hotels in Sanur with rates of Rp.350.000 and 450.000, but with a much better standard.

Room Tip: If you must stay at this hotel, avoid rooms number 15 and 16. Choose for rooms facing the garden at...

Located in Sanur beach I can say that this hotel is in good price and good location. Normal and standard room, but beautiful swimming pool although it is small. It also located in strategic area, just some minutes walk to the beach and store.

Recommend this hotel for people who likes to travel in "less complaint mode" :)

Room quality varies, but the hotel is undergoing renovation, so all should be good soon. You can use the beautiful pool in the Swastika Hotel behind & the included breakfast is excellent. The hotel is in a really handy location in Sanur & only a few minutes walk from the beach. The day staff are fantastic, but the night staff are unfriendly & not helpful at all. Would stay there again, no worries.

We stumbled onto the Ramayana and were pleasantly surprised to get an aircon room with breakfast for 300000 rupiah a night. While the room was a bit dark (as a result of tinted windows for privacy) the aircon was great and the shower strong and hot. The maintenance and room service was pretty good and while we were there the gardens and lawn were completely replaced without any real inconvenience to guests. We found the staff helpful and the real bonus is that the hotel adjoins a sister property with a lovely pool area and bar/coffee shop which Ramayana guests have full access to. A full cooked breakfast with plenty of choice is also provided at this neighbouring hotel as part of your room cost. Don't come here if you want posh but if you are looking for middle of the road accommodation at a good price I would recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 11 which was close to the walkway through to the sister hotel (only a minutes walk...

I paid 300.000 IDR for a double room incl tax and breakfast. Rooms were very old and worn down and the bathrooms are very smelly -mold and musty plus some sort of insect repellent. However, we had nice hot water all the time. The breakfast was served at the Swastika hotel next door and we could use the pool there - great deal because that was a nice hotel! We had a groundfloor room with a small balcony which was nice.

We stayed here for two weeks and originally had the down stairs garden rooms, they are disgusting with mouldy pillows with musty smelling sheets, and the matresses, I wont go there! The bathrooms were bad also. We upgraded to the upstairs which are new and very nice, but there was a rat or something bigger waking us up all night, in the attic. It took 2 days for them to do anything and after that it still wasnt fixed properly, not good when ur watching a scary film! Ha ha. Then twice the male cleaner walked in without knocking! One time when my girlfriend had no clothes on. Then I went to ask receptiom who it was and they said they didnt know? Even though there are only 2 cleaners on shift a day. After gettin knowhere we checked out, there was also loud building work goin on from early hours so we bearly slept with everything going on. So dont bother!
