“Great Property”
Reviewed 20 March 2013

Wonderful area, beautiful pool and beach area. (Though the hotels beach area is about a 5 minute walk down the beach) If you walk down to the Parigata beach area there is a fabulous warung to the right, "familia" warung. The greatest food and the sweetest women will feed you a ton of food for about $1.00. Ken the hotel manager was extremely helpful, finding us a driver and arranging our trip to Nusa Lembongan. Rooms were clean and reasonably priced, nice waterfall by the pool and good cocktails.

Say Hi to Ken for us!!

Staff & management very good and cleanliness second to none. Spoilt by the construction until 2am next door which needs to be addressed. More chairs for paying guests only on the beach. No reserving should be allowed as sat many days & "reserved" chairs never used. Staff selling chairs to passers by then none for guests. The chairs around the hotel pool have no umbrellas & are reserved very early for the ones that got shade, again often unused.
As already said the breakfasts need some improvement but the location is ideal. Lots of restaurants on the main drag and easy walk to Hardys supermarket.

Room Tip: North side away from construction. Ground floor rooms have easy pool access so easy to reserve "...

We stayed at the Parigata Resort and Spa from February 11-18, 2013. This was our first time in Bali. I will divide this review in to the "Good Points" and "The Problem".

THE GOOD POINTS

The hotel is in a great location, in the heart of Sanur and close to all the restaurants, bars and shops.
It is a short walk down a pathway to get to the beach. From there you walk on the beach 5 minutes to the beach club.
The beach club is on a nice section of beach and you get towels, loungers and chairs and can buy beverages and order food. The chairs do fill quickly in the morning, yet right beside the Parigata beach club is the Oasis beach club where it is 5 bucks a chair for all day if you can get over that and the chairs are more comfortable. You can reserve chairs. We were there in the off season and only missed out on a chair one day and had to rent next door. The other days there were openings as we showed up at 11:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. and by then at least a few of the early bird keeners had packed up and left.
We are not pool people although I swam in the hotel pool once. It's a decent size for the size of the hotel. It's hemmed in by the hotel so I wouldn't want to stay there all day.
This hotel is very clean, which is very impressive. The rooms (we had 2, more on that later) are large and with large balconies. Only 40 odd rooms so the place is relatively small and homey.
The breakfast buffet included all the usual fixins including western and asian dishes as well as an egg station. I have had more sumptious breakfasts but what they laid out was more than adequate. Service at breakfast (coffee and such) was variable.

THE PROBLEM

There is another hotel currently under construction next door to the south. Our first room was on that side of the hotel. The balcony, like all the balconies faced the pool and inner courtyard, however when we exited our door at the back we overlooked the construction site. We were assured upon check-in that construction ceased at 9 p.m. It did not. Our last night in that room, construction went on until 2 a.m.! The next morning we complained at the front desk and demanded to be moved. They then moved us to the north side of the hotel (non-construction side) and that solved the problem. Well, I figured, construction isn't regulated like back home and this is what they do in Bali until we talked to Balinese friends and acquaintances in the hospitality industry. Uh, no, they said, that shouldn't be happening after 9 p.m. and management needs to put their foot down, head over to the site and raise hell (which, someone in the industry told us, they did at their hotel for the construction to stop at night). Staff were very friendly and pleasant at the Parigata and I feel sorry that they have to bear the brunt of us (and others, I assume) who complain. It is management who needs to deal with this and it is management who need to get off their butts!
Would we stay here again? Yes, if "the problem" was dealt with.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms are airy and you might even have a view towards the sea!

My friend and I spent two weeks at Parigata Resort Feb 4 - 17, 2013. Lovely hotel on the smaller side; well located, nice spacious rooms; linens changed every day and tea & coffee in the room. It was quiet and the staff were very friendly. However, marble floors make it very dangerous if wet - be careful! If you want shade around the lovely pool (temps of 28 - 35 degrees) when we were there, there are NO sun umbrellas. After much protesting upon arrival, I found out they have a no-umbrella policy around the pool. Funny though, their beach club which is 250 yards down the beach, has all the loungers and umbrellas you could possibly want, and are rented out to passers-by. Of course people staying at the resort have the free use of the Beach Club. Consequently there was a daily 'stampede' to save a lounger under what protection there was - at any one time, there is only shade for 8 people/loungers. All in all, a lovely place; good food. Wi-Fi is intermittent and not available in the rooms.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms ideal for easy access - top floor (3rd) is 39 steps ip! Try 102, 103, or 108. Al...

We stayed in 2 rooms here for 4 nights with our kids aged 11, 14, 16, and 18. It is a beautiful place to stay, and we would recommend it. The rooms were very clean and quiet, and the beds very comfy.

There were a few things that could be improved.........

1/ They only have 2 english tv channels, one of which repeated the same 3movies every day, and the other channel was a 24hr talkshow on American politics?
2/ This resort is only 2 mins walk away from the beach, but you still have to walk 5-10mins up the beach to get to the "Beach Club". This was easy enough to do, but just a bit of a pain sometimes - especially when there werent enough beach lounges for all the people from the resort.
3/ Breakfast was lovely each morning, but probably could have a bit more variety

The hotel was nice and the staff was excellent. However the floors of this hotel in both the bathroom and the dining room were treacherous when wet. When it rained the dining room floor did get wet. I almost fell a number of times and my wife did fall in the bathroom from water on the floor and broke a couple of ribs. The hotel was good otherwise but just be aware of the slippery floors.

Location, hospitality, friendliness, professionalism, attentiveness, responsiveness, rooms, decor, maintenance, value for money, setting & landscaping....this hotel has it all in volumes. Right at the top end of the three-star rating, from arrival to farewell we had the best experience and it definitely exceeded our expectations.

A 100m East and you're at the beach walk allowing access to the uncrowded Sanur beach. A 100m the other way and you're on Jl Danau Tamblingan which has a huge variety of boutiques, shops, restos, bars, etc. Or, as lots did during our visit, just lounge around by the pool, jumping in occasionally to cool down or refresh under the water-fall.

Testament to the overall quality of any establishment is a desire or willingness to re-visit; that is definitely the case for the Parigata Resort & Spa.

I'll be back.

A sincere and big "Thank You" to the staff at all levels.
