Have just returned from a wonderful stay in the Santrian Club. Perfect resort for couples. Staff were all polite, friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay special. A lot of effort went into keeping the resort in perfect condition and everywhere was clean and well maintained. Would have no hesitation in recommending . Thank you to wonderful staff at Puri Santrian.

Room Tip: Recommend Club room for the peace and private pool.

Good points:
1 - room: we booked a Garden Wing room and were upgraded to a Beach view suite on arrival; from other reviews it does appear everyone gets upgraded but our suite was massive with a separate lounge area. Only complaint would be that the room was very dark but we had a peak at others and ours seemed much bigger so we didn't want to move
2 - location: the hotel is right on the beach front but also in walking distance to many restaurants and shops. It is at the south end of Sanur though so if you're going into the centre its worth hiring bikes or catching a bemo (one of the green minibuses that drive up and down the main street for just 50 cents each) as its a pretty long walk
3 - pool: the pool is lovely with lots of sun beds and a swim up bar (the latter is pretty pricey compared to other bars but ok value at happy hour)
4 – yoga. Free classes Monday to Friday twice a day (7am and 4pm)

Not so good points - these mainly relate to the price of things inside the hotel which meant we only used it as somewhere to sleep. These wont bother people who aren't worry about what they spend though!
1 - Restaurants: breakfast was amazing with lots of choice but then we found you can get a lovely breakfast outside the hotel for between $2.50 - $5 each. As we didn’t have breakfast included in our room price at $12.50 per person, we thought it was pretty pricey so opted to get this elsewhere to save some money and experience a variety of places. We didn’t eat in the hotel otherwise but I imagine the same goes for lunch/dinner.
2 – spa: massages were about $45 an hour whereas you can get a massage at lots of different places outside of the hotel for just $5 an hour
3 - bike hire: the hotel charge $3 to rent bikes for 1 day and you have to book in advance, you can get a bike for $2 a day or pay 50 cents per hour if you get them from Anita's which is about a 5 minute walk just outside the hotel. (I appreciate $3 is very little anyway but trust me, you can get a lot for $1 in Bali!)
4 - Wifi is inconsistent and drops out which is annoying as you have to reconnect often

Room Tip: Change your money at reception or only use the official money changers, other will rip you off no ma...

We, 2 couples of middle 40 years old, spent a week in Puri Santrian Club and it was fantastic. Apartments were superb, very spacious. A very large room with double bed, a separate dressing room with washbasin and a separate bathroom with toilet, bath and shower. Because we stayed on the ground floor, we had both of our apartment with a private terrace and as we walked into the courtyard where a pool was beautiful, especially for the club guests so no crowded pool. The whole complex is very spacious and beautifully designed in typical Balinese style, with great attention to detail. The complex seems to lie in a park.
The breakfast in the morning was very good and very extensive, both typical Balinese dishes as well as a great choice for a european breakfast.
The dinner in the restaurant was also very extensive. Everything in buffet style.
The restaurant / bar on the beach also excellent food.
All the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, nothing is too much.
All in all, I can only judge than that this hotel is well worth its stars.
Anyone who loves luxury and tranquility here in Bali is here at the perfect address. We will definitely come back if we go back to Bali.

There's very little I can say about this resort that is not positive. We were upgraded to a junior suite upon our arrival; the room had a huge balcony and overlooked the main pool and even had a view of the sea.

Some of the administration/service is a bit off, to wit:

*We asked the night staff for a late checkout (with extra payment) for our last day and were told that it was not possible. The next morning we asked the day staff and were told that it wasn't a problem.

*We had to settle our bill every time that our account reached $300 - which at a resort takes only a few days. We weren't aware of this policy when we made the booking or when we checked in. We did complain about having to do so. Evidently the hotel has had problems with people's ability to pay. It seems that it can find a better way to deal with this problem rather than penalize everyone.

*When we did check out, we settled the bill entirely, including the payment by credit card, and then were told, "OK, now you need to pay for the late checkout." We were pressed for time and evidently didn't note its absence on our bill. That's partly our fault - but we still think that it should have been included, especially when we requested it a full day before. (Luckily we had enough rupiah left to pay by cash.)

*Sometimes it was hard to find someone to take a food or drink order.

*The wifi on the resort was a bit inconsistent.

However, I would not let these issues stop anyone from booking a holiday at this resort, as there are so many good things about it. The grounds are extensive and beautiful and well kept. The rooms are comfortable and clean and are well air conditioned. And the staff are very friendly and gracious. Wayan and his colleagues at the breakfast grill make your eggs and omlettes to order (and Wayan makes the best banana pancakes I've ever eaten - I will dream of them ;) ). Ika and Ade and colleagues in the breakfast room were incredibly friendly and personable. We would also like to thank Ketut and colleagues at the main pool bar for telling us about Bali and its people and culture.

The resort is located at the southern end of Sanur, so if you want a holiday that tends to the quieter side, it's a good place to be - just keep in mind that you will need to walk a ways or take a taxi to get to the main part of town.

Great location and absolutely beautiful gardens for this resort hotel. We stayed 10 days in early March and were upgraded to a club room, which is similar to a private hotel within the resort grounds. As others have said the rooms are a little dated but very clean and excellent air conditioning. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and they all greet you with a smile. The only slight negative was the breakfast which was good but a bit unimaginative, plus at times you had to wait for a table. Considering the hotel wasn't full it would be a bit annoying in high season. Plenty of sun beds and loungers. Wifi coverage good all around the resort, including the beach and free. Good location with good access to restaurants, bars and shops nearby.

Room Tip: We always ask for the top floor as don't like this clip clop of shoes overhead.

The resort itself is within some lovely grounds, the pools and facilities are quite nice. The rooms are clean and tidy. The food and drink really turned this stay into a disappointment. Prices suggested that this hotel was aiming for 5star guests and really wasn't very good.

After reading reviews for days on tripadvisor, we picked this hotel. And thank God we did! It's picture perfect... After arriving all we could say: we wish heaven would be something like this. Exceptional service, very nice and clean rooms. Have a couple treatment at the spa! Best 200 dollars ever spent! One of the few exceptions where the real thing looks even better than on the brochure...
