“Beautiful gardens...”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

Had a short break here. This is a very nice older style hotel here in Bali with huge grounds and lovely gardens. The rooms are also of a very good size. It's a short transfer from the airport and the staff are extremely friendly and courteous we stayed in a club room which had the added benefit of a private pool area and afternoon tea. The breakfast was good, a typical hotel buffet style. The staff are willing and friendly but the service is a little on the slow side. We dined in Mezzanine which was superb!

My wife and I have just arrived home, England, from a ten night stay in beautiful Bali. Five nights in Ubud and five in Sanur at the Puri Santrian. We received a very warm welcome and that warmth never changed the whole time we were at the Puri. All the staff were courteous, friendly and very hard working, but always in a relaxed manner.
Our room in the Beach Wing was clean, comfortable.with a huge bed. The hotel is very large, but nowhere was far to walk, beach, reception, pools etc. in fact the hotel being set in beautiful gardens walking was a pleasure.
Shops were easily reached from the front of the hotel and the sea and beach from the rear.
If we holiday again in Bali we would have no hesitation at staying at the Puri Santrian

Room Tip: It is a large hotel, but all rooms were on the ground floor-no stairs or steps and set in lovely gar...

We stayed at the Puri Santrian for 7 nights as part of a tour organized by Air Canada. After a 30 minute drive from the airport, we were greeted at the hotel by courteous staff and welcome drinks.

Our room was on the ground floor of the Garden Wing. While slightly out-dated, the room was always clean and the bed was comfortable. Our major complaint about the room was the very poor shower and lack of hot water, which made it very hard to shower! We had a few occasional geckos and small lizards visit our room, so if you are not fond of critters, book a room on a higher floor!

The grounds were beautiful, maintained meticulously clean and sprayed for insects 3 times weekly. Located right on the beach, there were two beautiful pools and a wide assortment of chairs, loungers and couches. The hotel is located in a quieter area of Bali, so there was not much nightlife or activities going on, which was not ideal for us (younger crowd).

Both restaurants served great Western and Indonesian dishes and the staff was always polite and helpful. We were able to eat full meals (including drinks and dessert) for about $30 for two people. While expensive compared to the surrounding restaurants, it was worth it to feel spoiled!

Next time, we will definitely book a better quality room. Overall it was a very relaxing stay, would definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: Pick higher quality rooms!

Literally just returned from staying at the Puri Santrian. Absolutely brilliant. Stayed in Garden Wing room 223. Lovely clean and spacious room and everything you need, tea, coffee, mini bar, all topped up everyday, 2 bottles of water delivered to your door each morning. TV (a little dated but who watches TV on hol!).

Really helpful and pleasant staff both in reception and around the hotel - love to stop and talk to you. Grounds are beautifully kept. Yoga is held everyday in the gardens. Beautiful well furnished terrace nice and quiet to sit on in the evening. Hotel amenities very good and really nice having private beach, plenty of sunbeds...but there are still people who feel the need to "reserve" them all day and never seem to be on them!!! Lovely big bed and sitting area, plenty of wardrobe space and use of free safe.

All in all a great place to stay and would definitely go back!.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 223 on higher floor in garden wing and although near reception was very quiet.

We made our way back to the Puri in September for our 7th trip after a gap of seven years - wondering what changes would have occurred - both in Bali and at the Puri.

Travelling with one adult daughter we were shown to a room with three single beds - which was a little odd, but fine. It was a newer room (R232- a beach wing room in the centre, nearest the reception area) and had a more modern bathroom than many rooms obviously have.

Room had everything you'd want and was always kept clean. One issue was the pillows. They were too big and gave me a crick in the neck. We asked for smaller pillows but nothing was available. This was resolved with a quick trip to Mata Hari department store!

Big improvements on the beach since we were there last (was a work in progress on our last visit). Result was excellent with lots more beach seating taking the pressure off the poolside loungers. And what fabulous loungers - felt like I was lying on a bed on the beach!

Enjoyed meals at the Beach Club restaurant - excellent food at reasonable prices. Great beach walkway on either side of the hotel - found some excellent restaurants to the north. Stick to the busy ones - they're busy for a reason!

Good to see that this is a hotel that is being constantly upgraded and improved - not built and left to decline and age.

The gardens are just beautiful and there are ponds with fish and turtles.

A real mixture of guests - many European and not too many children.

I would definitely return to the Puri Santrian if travelling to Bali. Sanur is a quiet oasis compared to the bedlam and crowds of Kuta, and yet only a short rise away when you feel like immersion. Already dreaming of our next visit and hope it won't be another seven years away!

We were upgraded to a santrian club room on arrival which was exceptional with its own secluded pools. We requested to shift to the beach wing room which we had originally booked as we thought that would be closer to the beach and have more privacy. However since this was not the case, they shifted us back on our request to the club rooms without a fuss and all with the same degree of hospitality and smiles. This was what impressed me most. They go the extra mile in trying o accommodate your requests. The gardens were wonderful to walk about and the hotel had shops and restaurants close by. In saying that the hotel restaurants were not overpriced considering the ambience and service. It was an ideal, relaxing place to stay and I would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: Would recommend the Santrian club rooms as they are nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Would n...

Stayed here for a week with my family and had a great experience. We were upgraded to the club rooms for no extra charge and enjoyed the very well kept grounds and swimming pool areas. The restaurant served very good western and Indonesian food and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. The hotel is right on the beach which is clean and quiet. This is not a cheap hotel for Bali but you get what you pay for.
