“Beautiful Balinese experience”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

If mosquitoes like you, go for the Santrian Club rooms - 4 poster bed with mosquito netting all over! We enjoyed the extra space, very quiet pools and lounging areas. We liked the Balinese flavour, statues, traditional dress etc. The staff were unfailingly polite and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Sonia from guest relations was extremely attentive and suggested things we might like to do, like the cookery class. It was a bit expensive, but well organised and enjoyable. We dined in the hotel on several occasions and found the standard good and reasonably priced. Pity the wine is so expensive in Bali but we enjoyed the local beer! For those who like the beach, the location could not be better. Beach and garden rooms looked equally good. The only slight problem for me was the prevalence of steps as I have a mobility problem. In general though, they were only short flights.

We originally had planned to stay for 1 week at Puri Santrian at the beginning of October, however the resort was booked out for the end of our stay, so we ended up only staying for 2 nights. The only room left was a Premier Deluxe, which was quite expensive, but included breakfast and afternoon tea.
Checkin upon arrival was smooth and within a minute of us sitting down, we were given a refreshing juice to drink while we filled out the paperwork. Then we were taken to our room. When booking, I mentioned that the trip was for our wedding anniversary, so when we arrived at the room there was a lovely heart shaped chocolate cake waiting for us.
There was an issue at this point with our luggage. We were told that it would be brought to our room immediately, but after about 10 minutes it still hadn't arrived. No worries we thought, they must have had a few other arrivals at the same time as us. So we went for a walk around the resort and came back about 15 minutes later. Still no luggage. We went back to reception and it was still sitting in the same place the taxi driver left it. Not really happy with that - it either could have been stolen or tampered with.
Anyway, we hung out at the pool for the afternoon. There are two pools, one with ocean views. Both seemed to have ample loungers around. I was surprised that with the hotel being full that there were so many free (end of Aus school holidays). One thing that did annoy me was the hogging of the beach double loungers. There was one couple that had their own (logo brand name) towels on the double loungers near the pool and then they later went to the ones they had 'barred' with their resort towels. That sort of rudeness just makes me angry! The guy was Indonesian I think and was talking to all the staff like he knew them.
We had dinner at the resort restaurant, Mezzanine (on the street front), and the food was great. I had booked us in for an 8pm dinner, and in hindsight, that was probably a bit too late. I had ordered the fresh pasta and by this stage, it was all gone so had to have dry pasta.
The breakfast buffet is in a bit of a weird spot. There are lots of tables in the restaurant near the pools, but the food itself is kind of hidden away. The staff either seemed too busy to help or just didn't want to help the first day we were there. We sort of wandered around for a while before we found out ourselves where everything was.
The Premier Deluxe room was nice. The bathroom was huge, with a massive shower area. The air con was nice and cold and a lovely retreat from the heat outside. There was some work going on in front of our bungalow, so we didn't really have a view.
We used the spa one afternoon and both had a massage. The spa building itself is beautiful on the inside and very tranquil. We were given a couples room and both enjoyed our massages. Prices were usual resort prices.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return because it is nice to relax on the beachfront. The resort is in the southern part of Sanur, and although the majority of restaurants, shops etc are in the north there are still lots of good restaurants just outside the resort on both the street side and warungs on the beach.

Been to Bali many times, and always enjoyed myself, this time at Puri Santrian I had an amazing time, the staff were fantastic, very friendly and looked after our needs, in particular Nyoman Subagia and Sonia Rinjani.
The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable, and great value for money. I will certainly return to Puri Santrian again.
Breakfast was lovely, particularly the outlook over the beach. The pool area is well tended and has new outdoor sun lounges. With such friendly staff how could I not like my stay??
Just fantastic, and can't wait until I can return.

We stayed at the Puri Santrian for 6 nights in November. We had a very relaxing and peaceful week and stayed in a club room which had the added benefit of a private pool area and afternoon tea. This is a rather old style hotel with lovely gardens and a small but clean beach. Puri Santrians hotel, beach and gardens are very clean and well maintained but the surrounding areas are rather dirty.
ROOMS: The rooms are, although most of them rather moldy because of the very humid climate (we tried to change), of a very good size and most of the staff are very friendly and willing to assist you. The WiFi is free and the room had a safety box.
OTHER: There is a wonderful spa and yoga exercise every day but the hotel has either a gym nor organized exercise in groups.
FOOD: The breakfast was good, a typical hotel buffet style. We dined two times in Mezzanine which was absolutely superb!
NOTE: Furthermore, with regard to the room which on the surface looked VERY clean, we have a strong suspect that it was infected by bed bugs as we got typical signs of that after a the 4th night and suspect that it was eggs from bedbugs in the bed which was hatched after some days.
TIPS: We took a wonderful snorkeling daytrip out to the waters around Lembongdan. Wonderful corrals and lots of different tropical fish species.

Room Tip: Go and have careful look and smell.

We stayed for seven nights in nov/dec. Staff very friendly. Our room in Santrian Club was lovely, spacious and clean. Breakfast was adequate. The grounds were lovely and great pool areas but felt closing pools too early. After long days out it would be nice to have a relaxing swim.

The resort itself was very pretty, with the older Balinese style that we really enjoy. Breakfast was included in the rate and was pretty dissapointing- you could tell they just throw it together and it was by far the worst breakfast of our trip's three hotels. The beach was pretty, but we didn't appreciate the used diapers floating in the water along with the other trash.
