“Lovely old style Bali hotel ”

I had the good luck to stay here for 7 days last week. The staff are lovely and freindly. It is not the biggest hotel on the beach but it is by far the most authentic and value for money hotel left along this beautiful beach strip.

Good pool and location on beach at top end of Sanur. Our ‘deluxe’ ground level room was clean but dated and showing signs of the traffic it has seen. This was not a patch on our other Bali accommodation experiences for the same rate. Breakfast and the one meal we had, was basic and ordinary. So we took a R20k taxi fare and enjoyed some of the best Sanur restaurants.
Thanks for the vote if you found this helpful. Happy travels.

Booked through agoda in February and got a great rate on a deluxe room overlooking the pool... Room 221
This is the perfect place to stay if you want to relax.
The breakfast was adequate and the lunch and dinner menu represents good value for money.
We also ate at The White Sands Sports bar and tavern which is about 200m from the front gate on Jalan Pantai Sindhu ... The best Aussie burger on Bali for Rp.70k
Room 221 is spacious and very clean ... Absolutely no complaints for the tariff paid.
Heaps of restaurants close by and the morning walk along the boardwalk whilst the sun is coming up is a must for all tourists.
Like most places in SANUR the staff a very friendly and helpful.
All room amenities worked great and whilst the free wifi can be challenging if you position your self near a window it should work fine.
Several small " supermarkets" nearby for water and take away Bintang ... Walking distance to main shopping area..
If I can get a similar rate next year I will definitely be returning but the next time for the entire 21 days...
Highly recommended if you can get a good rate...

This hotel is great for families, especially if thou have teenagers. Please don't come with the idea that the rooms will be flash and fancy, because they aren't. They are getting old, but the beds are comfortable and the water is hot and the place is clean. We stayed in bungalows around the pool area. This had adjoining lounge rooms between two bedrooms and was a great place to put our teenagers in. The pool area is really new and clean and the kids were able to have fun without bothering other guests. The location of this place is amazing and you can't get any closer to the beach unless you sleep on the sand. The staff are really friendly and the place is well serviced. Ask about a cheaper price, or go on to Agoda and look for yourself. But I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have a safe and relaxing holiday, while not really caring what your room is like.

Room Tip: Defaintely ask for a bungalow around the pool or a junior suite room

We stayed for 4 nights as we wanted to be close to the beach. This hotel would have been great about 20 years ago but now it is a little tired.

The breakfast buffet was non-inspiring, the shower had no pressure and it was noisy every night with people running up and down the stairs and fireworks going off at 10pm. The wi-fi was not very good either.

The only plus was the location as it is right on the beach and they also have a great pool.

The hotel is located right on the beach, down a quite street, but still within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops. It has great beach with lounge chair, a beach bar (that was always empty), a restaurant (that was always empty except for breakfast), and pleasant grounds with pool. The staff is friendly enough, and were somewhat helpful when I had questions. Unfortunately, the worst part of this hotel is its rooms. They are awfully out dated (look nothing like the pictures online at Agoba or booking.com) - the walls are dirty and have marks, the furniture has stains, the tile floors are cracked, and you guessed it, stained. The bathroom has the same problems as the main room, but it does have a big shower and I've been able to get hot water every time I've tried! Everything appears clean, but whenever anything is this old, it just has the look of dingy and dirty, with bad lighting. There is an air conditioner that works well, however its loud and has a white "on light" that glows very very bright throughout the night. This might be a nit pick issue, but the hotel still uses regular keys, to which it attaches a large plastic card with the name and address of the hotel AND YOUR ROOM NUMBER. Should anyone pick up your key or you lose it, someone would know directly where to go, not the best safety policy.
At $45 a night for this room, on the beach, with beach bar and pool - its a good value, but beware if you are looking to relax in your room at all, because you'll be wanting to get out of there as quickly as possible!

Room Tip: Non-beach front rooms, ie by the pool, are quieter.

The final decision to stay in this hotel is based on the Tripadvisor reviews. The reviews are mixed and needed some processing, but ultimately, the reviews suggest that the hotel is a good choice and it suits our criteria such as near the beach, possibility of snorkeling, nice hotel ground and swimming pool among others. The reviews are really helpful especially the current ones. It gives a reassuring feeling that the good experience reported by earlier travelers is likely to be enjoyed. So, I booked 4 nights and everything are as expected. Yes the rooms are dated, some stains on the bath room tile grout, light switches at the bed side table are not working, power outlets are hidden under the dresser top, but never the less the rooms are clean, spacious and with comfortable beds. Complimentary hot and cold drinks, television, mini bar, hair blower are standard. The swimming is pool is beautiful and is the focal point of the hotel grounds, set amid the verdant surroundings. There are rooms around the yard but these are hidden from view by the plants and trees.
The early mornings are my favorite, early mornings out in the hotel garden are very pleasant, serene and cool and air is filled by bird calls, this is probably the essence of the Bali experience. Being on the eastern side of the island, sunrise catchers make a beeline for the beach to witness the awesome sunrise. The sunrise view is different every morning, rearrangements everyday courtesy of the tide, clouds, anchored boats and the early risers.
The breakfast is nothing to rave about but it is generous with Balinese cuisine and western breakfast items of croissant, fresh fruits, bacon, eggs, cereals and of course coffee. What makes breakfast first class experience is the view of the beach and ocean and the refreshing cool morning breeze.
Another hotel treat is the presentation of the Balinese Legong Dance. As announced in the posters around the hotel, the show is on every Sunday evening and during full moon.
The hotel is well located, along the beach and surrounded by restaurants, bars and shops. Sanur is many times more subdued than Kuta and the place is very peaceful with a bit of its share of the traffic. Another bonus of staying in Sanur is that it is closer than Kuta to Ubud and east Bali by about 20 kilometers or so.
Staffs are courteous and friendly, with lots of young faces of student trainees who are eager to have a chat or two with guests for a chance to practice the use of the English language, a treasure trove of candid information of their home and culture.
