“Very good service but they need to renovate”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Griya and the service and staff were still of a very high standard. I thought having someone greet us at reception every time we walked back in to the hotel was a nice touch. The staff seemed to be very genuine and helpful.
As there are so many fantastic hotels to choose from in Bali I would only return if I know the rooms have been renovated. Toilets wouldn't flush properly and the rooms in general are looking very very tired. I would have thought last time I stayed (2 years ago) that they would have done them up then. The bikes that were on offer to guests should have been for free as they weren't exactly in good condition. They need to purchase some new ones as I'm sure they're the oldest ones on the boardwalk!! The Griya reflexology man I can highly recommend. He was A M A Z I N G!

Room Tip: Try and get a newly renovated one.

This was our 3rd stay at the Griya Santrian and as usual it was wonderful. I must tell a little story tho about the quality of service. I fell and hit my head outside the property near the Vila Shanti. People came from everywhere to help and the Asst GM from the Griya came running. He organised a car to take me to hospital and sent Putu from the front desk with us to take care of everything for us. He was very concerned and kept texting her while I was getting stitches in the back of my head!! I cannot fault the staff or the ambiance of this place. We spent 2 weeks there and it was perfect. The construction was not a problem and they have to do it to maintain the property. The beach is nearly complete and moved on down the sand. By the way the BROS hospital was fantastic. Local about 10 minutes away.

We stayed here for 4 days early October. I really wish I had of discovered this hotel before and had made plans to stay longer. First impressions were amazing. This is such a lovely hotel. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The gardens are beautiful and you always see staff maintaining them. We stayed in the Garden Wing and had 2 interconnecting rooms. These rooms have recently been re - furbished and are really lovely. Was extremely happy with our rooms and the location. We were directly infront of the garden wing pool. Walking from the Garden wing to the main pool is only approx 3 mins. I really wouldnt bother paying the extra for a room to be closer. Deck chairs were always available. We never had issues with people claiming "their" chairs for the whole day. There is currently construction going on in the middle of the resort, however this is all cordened off with a decorative barrier and I never actually even heard anything going on. We did not include breakfast as there are so many other options available outside of the hotel, both street and beach side. We will definitely be back to the Griya Santrian and Sanur, our whole family has fallen in love.

The room we had was tired and and run down. (some of the hotel does have new refurbished rooms). Over all the staff were good but little things like us wanting 3 towells for the pool area and being told only one each? you had to sign for them? was annoying.

Room Tip: Ask for newly refurbished

We stayed 7 nights at Griya Santrian and couldn't fault the service or the food. We thought it was best resort we saw along the beachfront. Yes there is construction and there was a digger on the beach but this didn't interfere with our stay at all. The middle pool is closed but with two other great pools it didn't matter. Our room was 248 and overlooked the back pool which was very quiet and private. We did the cooking class run by Griya for $60USD ++ and learnt lots and had a great morning with the chef from the restaurant. Best places to eat were The Porch for breakfast and Three Monkeys for dinner both across the road. Worth a taxi is The Potato Head, incredible setting and Asian tapas yum!! Will definitely return to Griya, thank you!!

Had a wonderful time at the Griya. The only reason it has a 4 and not 5 is that the rooms we stayed in were very tired, but we didn't spend long in our rooms. The breakfast, facilities and location and all great and handy to the restaurants outside the resort. Would definitely go back.

Staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Pools were beautiful and you can't beat the oceanfront location. The breakfast was delicious. Room was very large and spacious. The balcony was an added bonus. Will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Ask to be in the renovated section closer to the beach. It's worth the extra cost.

Griya Santrian welcomes you to experience an enduring tale of warm traditional Balinese hospitality on the laid back sunrise coast of Sanur Beach. This beautiful beachfront resort, the sister property of Puri Santrian, is unmistakably among the most renowned landmarks in Sanur, gracing a perfectly central location on the quiet shore and with an unending classical design that continues to charm visitors, be it new and repeat visitors alike. Sanur is well known as a spot for luxurious seaside accommodation with its white sand beach bordering a reef-sheltered lagoon, making it one of the safest on the island, and thus perfect for families. As a luxuriant oasis in Sanur, Griya Santrian's enduring warm Balinese touches are imbued throughout its range of impeccable services and facilities. Leafy tropical Balinese gardens comprising flowering undergrowth and large shady trees (some older than the resort itself) dominate its manicured landscaping. And guests enjoy ease of access to the local shopping and dining hubs of Sanur, all within walking distance from the resort. At the heart of the Balinese owned and operated resort are its wonderful accommodation features - well designed and appointed guestrooms are spread throughout its two main wings. The two story Garden Wing comprises a total of 37 rooms with private balconies or terraces overlooking the resort's aforementioned lush gardens. Meanwhile, the ever popular Beach Wing features a total of 20 spacious rooms that let guests wake up to the wonderful garden view and the dramatic Sanur sunrises. Balconies or terraces also overlook the resort's main pool. Cable TV, mini-bar, hot and cold water, IDD telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and air conditioning all come as standard in-room amenities, to name a few. Alternatively, a choice of 59 Deluxe Rooms welcome guests to garden and pool views with some closer to the beach and feature en suite marble bathrooms and separate showers. For those who prefer a more lavish accommodation will find the Santrian Suite, a capacious suite with a 68 sqm bedroom with an elegantly draped four-poster bed as its center piece, together with a dressing room and private balcony. Designed with a refined modern Balinese approach, the suite serves as the ultimate romantic getaway for couples and honeymooners, while also great for families. For dining pleasures, Griya Santrian presents its main restaurants and outlets, which includes The Wantilan Restaurant, offering sumptuous breakfasts and all-day dining complemented by sweeping ocean views over the Sanur coastline. Meanwhile, Griya Beach Corner serves a wide choice of Italian, Japanese and Asian specialty dishes in a refreshing open-air setting. For a bit of romance, lovebirds can optionally spice things up with a bespoke candlelit dinner. The Spa at Griya Santrian is a thoughtfully designed and purpose built facility that offers a wide range of health and beauty treatments using natural fruit and flower extracts that will totally indulge you from top to toe. It's the go-to place within the resort grounds where guests can discover a great way to re-energize, refresh and rejuvenate during their stay. Griya Santrian opened in 1972 as a luxury boutique resort with a pride and commitment towards the preservation of Balinese arts and culture. While keeping to its roots and now in its fourth decade running, Griya Santrian continues to improve its facilities and services. The most recent addition includes a new wing room which was unveiled only last year, and repeat guests will also be surprised to see a new spa adjacent the resort's lobby, set to be completed this year. Several key facelifts are also well underway in 2016. ... more   less
