We stayed at Bali Life Villa Bumi Ayu, and it really was not a pleasant experience. Staff were as helpful as they could be, but the place has many teething problems. Ceiling collapsed in the bathroom of my sons unit. Our unit had no hot water. Cockroaches in the bathrooms as well. Wouldn't swim in the pool as it was not clean. Needs to be better managed.

We booked a room in the Bali Life Villa through booking.com. There are two places of Bali Life Villa in Sanur. We wanted to stay at the one on Jalan Kesari, because the rating and comments were better there. When we arrived, we were told, that the place is full and they offer a room at the Bali Life Villa on Bumi Ayu, which has worse ratings.
We were shown the place and also got a reduction of 50.000 Idr. So we gave it a try, which was a bad decision. Here is why:
1. Staff hardly speaks English. If you ask for the Internet password you have to ask three times differently until they know what you want.
2. Internet is not working. We were given several passwords by the night watchman, but none worked. In the morning we found out from the day manager, that it is a known issue, and he has told several times to the boss to fix it.
3. We were the only guests, so we thought, something might be wrong in the first place...
4. While showering, we had a cockroach coming out of the sink. Later in the night I managed to kill it.
5. The way to the main road and the beach is kind of an adventure. No one tells you the way, you have to find by yourself. It the night, there is not much street light, so kind of scary.
6. Breakfast was very funny. The staff is not able to make hot water for tea and has no idea how to make a toast. A half-full glass of jelly was brought from somewhere outside. One of the guys had to take a motorbike to get it.
7. The swimming pool was not very clean. You could not see the bottom of it, although it was not a big one.
Summary: worst hotel in Bali we came across. The high price is absolutely not reasonable for the service provided. The place, although nice looking, is really badly managed.

We stayed two nights here and wished we could have stayed longer, but we had another booking somewhere else. Never have we been treated by the owner and his staff better, the little things they did for us was above and beyond what you would expect. The place is new and kept immaculate. Its not on the main road but thats no big deal only a 5 min walk to everything.

Nice room with big bed, staff might need some more training. Overall it was an excellent stay, minus the hot air conditioning. Pool was a little bit dirty though, although we wasn't using it. Need more maintenance on the room and service staff.

The villas are in a great location in Sanur, about 150 meters from the main road so fairly quiet. First impressions are good, villas look really nice and surround a small pool with a couple of sunbeds for relaxation. Living areas are common shared with a four seater dining room setting, large couch and bench seat and kitchen. The kitchen has a shared fridge and crockery, cutlery etc supplied. Good thing is a water filter that also has a built in hot water ern. It could do with having a small bar fridge in each room and maybe a table and chairs.

The upstairs rooms although more private are very hot due to the high ceilings, large external walls that hold the heat and the small air con units struggle to cool the room.

The 24 hour front desk is actually the caretaker who lives in the complex in the store room off the dining room and his bathroom opens out into the kitchen. He is present in the villas for the majority of the day, either sitting at the dining room table or by the pool. Occasionally in the evenings he spends time in a vacant villa watching the TV. The villas are not cleaned every day and you have to ask for clean towels and toilet paper! We also had to ask for the hot water to be turned on, which means connecting up a new gas bottle!

The cleanliness of the kitchen leaves a lot to be desired as the caretaker obviously cooks his meals in there! Ants are prevalent in the kitchen area too!

We upgraded to the downstairs jacuzzi room due to the heat upstairs. We paid extra for the large jacuzzi bath, which in actual fact you can't use as the plug doesn't seal so the bath won't hold the water! The water pressure is so low that it would take hours to fill the bath even if the plug didn't leak! The flat screen TV was not working properly as half the screen was purple! The laundry service took far too long, laundry taken at 7am was returned the next day at 6pm. The laundry at the end of the road took 24 hours!

We used the driver service organized by the caretaker, not a great idea as the driver got lost and it took us an hour and a half to get to Kuta. The return trip in a Bluebird taxi took 20 minutes and cost half the price.

All in all the villas have the potential to be a great place to stay if the service was better and you didn't have to share your accommodation with the caretaker!

Room Tip: The best room is the jacuzzi room but don't expect to have a jacuzzi!
