I've been to Bali 18 times and stayed in various villas in Seminyak, Kuta, Legian, Sanur and Lombok. I've stayed in villas from $30 a night to over $600 a night. I stayed at Golden Villa's recently, having stayed at Emerald Villas last year. The properties are almost identical. The difference being the location (Golden Villas is on Kesari 1, and Emerald Villas on Jl Karang Sari) both off Tamblingan. Golden Villas is the oldest of three similar complexes; Golden, Emerald and Jade. They are an older style villa but well appointed and usually western owned and in some cases western operated which means western standards. The pool in villa Kamboja (villa 2 in the small complex), is large as you can see from the photo, and had TV's and air conditioners in each of the three bedrooms. It had a well appointed kitchen and living area as well. What sets this villa apart from the Emerald villa I stayed in, is the maid. Nothing was too much trouble for Kadek who made my stay really enjoyable. She did my washing and drying and offered to go to the store to pickup anything I needed. She kept the place immaculate and made the beds daily, cleaned the rooms efficiently, and did so with a smile. I did not get that from the maid at Emerald Villas....at all. She was the difference in the villas. I paid $178 per night which I thought was a great deal all things considered. Thanks Ted, and thanks Kadek!
As a family we had a fantastic holiday in No 3. Golden Villas the villa itself is beautiful and equipped with everything you will ever want. Two large bedrooms both with large 4 poster beds and their own large en-suite facilities. Joined by a large open area kitchen living area which leads directly onto the large pool and outdoor seating. Everything was kept immaculate through out our stay garden and pool cleaned daily by staff and Ayu who was the maid for the villa was so helpful and friendly. Everyday she cleaned the whole villa provided fresh towels and washed and ironed out clothes, along with this Ted had arranged for a driver to collect us from the airport on arrival which was most welcome after a long flight from the UK. The villa is within a gated complex with friendly staff on the gate and within a minutes of leaving the villa you are on a main road full of shops resturants and massage parlours. All in all I cannot recommend this villahigy enough and when we return to Bali we will certainly be using it again.
We went there as a family of six.Everything was absolutely perfect.Mr.Ted (the owner) was very caring and took care of every detail. The housekeeper was very helpful and went out of her way to accommodate our needs.Had a superb time.
Myself and my husband stayed here after 7 days in Singapore and after doing alot of sightseeing there were in great need of a chillaxing holiday in Bali. The villa was perfect for our needs, lovely and spacious with everything we needed.........even a smoothie maker for my morning smoothies. The pool was lovely and we spent alot of time in it aswell as on our sunbeds in the shade. The wifi connection was fab as was having a lovely big TV for later on in the evenings if we wanted it.
The very best thing was having Kadek our maid who was fantastic! A genuinely lovely and caring person who went out of her way to please and do all she could to make our stay as awesome as possible. She cooked/prepared what we wanted for breakfast, cleaned everyday, washed and ironed our clothes everyday. She did our shopping too ....all we had to do was give her the money for the receipts she gave us. One afternoon she nipped out to get us a very tasty locally prepared chicken satay and rice. On our last day I even travelled on the back of her scooter to do some shopping and collect satay again.
Food is cheap enough to eat out every night depending on your budget......let's put it this way we ate out most days! Our first full day Kadek gave us a menu from Grocer and Grinder for us to order takeaway. It came very quickly and was delicious and very reasonably priced.
A large supermarket called Hardy's is about 10-20 minutes away depending how quickly you walk. It has everything you need and was where Kadek did the majority of shopping. Anything she couldn't get she bought from her village. Lots of bargain items can also be found at Hardy's such as souvenirs and clothing which we did take advantage of.
The villa is part of a complex of villa's with gated security......a couple of the security guards were very friendly and always gave a friendly hello or goodbye depending on which way we were walking. The interior of the villa in fairness is probably due for refurbishment but is well kept and very clean and was certainly extremely good value for money.
The main road with all the shops and restaurants was only a few minutes walk away and the beach front was off the main road. There is a lovely promenade walk along the beach with plenty of restaurants, hotel frontages, little places to buy souvenirs and clothing. There are also places you can book trips and water sports. We walked quite far up to the end of the promenade and past the Power of Now Centre where you can book yoga sessions, acupuncture sessions and other treatments. I was interested in the yoga and packed my kit but didn't get round to doing it in the end.
Another bonus of having a private villa was having access to our very own driver called Gede who was very lovely and picked us up from the airport and drove us back there when we left. It cost 175 thousand Indonesian Rupiah each way which is just over £10. Just on a note of practicality make sure Ted the owner tells you where to meet Gede at the airport. We wasted almost an hour looking for him and when you're tired after a flight it isn't a fun use of your time! Another useful tip, DO NOT let anybody else pick up your bags to help you .....it will cost you as it did us!
The other bonus of having Gede was when we wanted him to take us places we simply asked Kadek to message or phone him to arrange details. We didn't actually do much travelling but did a day trip to Ubud starting with an awesome 2 hour river rafting trip with Bali Adventure Tours......more expensive than the other tours but well worth it for the vip treatment we received (we were the only people in our boat with 2 guides) use of lockers and clean facilities (showers and toilets) and a delicious selection of hot and cold food local food buffet style at the end of the activity with waiter service. After this Gede dropped us off at the Sacred Monkey Forest which was fab and gave us plenty of time to snap up lots of photos of the cheeky little monkey's including one that jumped onto my shoulder bag scavaging for food! After that Gede dropped us off at the market in Ubud where you can barter to your hearts content buying an array of clothes and knick knacks and souvenirs. I was pretty much in heaven and would have bought loads however hubby didn't feel well so had to cut this short :(
Another trip we arranged with Gede was to Nusa Dua beach where we spent a few lovely hours relaxing on the beach and in the beautiful shallow and calm waters. We felt this beach was definitely nicer than the one at Sanur. This was followed by a visit to Uluwatu Temple to watch the Fire Dance Ceremony and the sunset. Both were a very worthwhile experience. Afterwards Gede took us to Jimbaran so we could find a good seafood restaurant....which we did and had a lovely evening. Gede's daily rate was 600,000 Rupiah which is about £35
Overall a fantastic holiday which we thoroughly enjoyed.
A great villa in the middle of Sanur. Easy walk to restaurants, shops, spa's, both locally and on the beach. The villa sells itself, but Kadek is the heart of the villa.
She is always there when you want/need her, will do your washing, cooking etc, but is unobtrusive the rest of the time. She really is a beautiful person.
A little tip is to use the little local shops in the small gangs leading to the main street.
They are way cheaper than Hardy's ( most times more than half the cost), and you are supporting a local person. We had a great time and hope to be back again.
No negatives to the villa, but a suggestion that the toilet cisterns might need an upgrade soon.
This was my third time in Bali staying for a few days with a group of 4 divers on our way back from West Papua. This villa was the best of all three places. Spacious living area facing the pool was ideal for relax, what a great place, Clean, large, separated bedrooms. Short distance to the main street with stores and restaurants. Kadek was making us breakfasts each morning, laundry if needed, changing towels daily. Definitely will check if this villa is available on my next trip to Bali.
This was a relaxing home base for our travels around Bali with 3 of our children aged 6 to 14.
With amazing warungs and Hardy's just a short walk away we spent some days out and about, and others we almost never left the pool.
Each of the rooms were well equipped and kept clean by Kadek.
Kadek took such great care of us that she felt like family. I almost couldn't return home after the great break she gave us.
The owner Ted was easy to communicate with and very helpful arranging airport transport and local information.
We've found a great family villa and hope to return soon
