We only had one night with a late checkout the next day but enjoyed our time here. The pool area was good and the two connected pools pleasant to swim in. The deluxe room was excellent, large bathroom with a bath and big room. We should have had a double room but got a twin instead, management offered an upgraded room but we were happy with the twin - good location and private, but close to the pool. The hotel is off the main road and back from the beach but not a problem if you do not mind a pleasant walk and is also very quiet. Breakfast was excellent with a good range but he dinner we had was only average and needs to be improved. We were the only diners so I guess that tells the story. Beautiful gardens and a real Bali setting. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe room.

We stayed here for 10 days and it was great, The villas were very private and the pool area was great. the resort was close to all the shopping and restaurants and was only a 10 min walk to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

That was nice stay at Bumi Ayu. But some small things spoiled our accomodation. Firstly: Towels in the bathroom could be any colour, but not that dirty-white. Secondly: strong odour from toilet.
And finally: red warms appeared from time to time in our bathroom. You could only guess where were they from...
And not so easy to get to the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not so close to swimming pool.

We stayed at Bumi Ayu for a month in late October-early November. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it.
Some of the staff were lovely, in particular Nyoman and Ketut who served in the restaurant. The housekeeping staff were all great. We were also thrilled with Ulan, the trainee at the front desk. We believe Ulan has a bright future in hospitality, so we certainly hope she is being treated well by the management, as she could get a job anywhere.
However despite the good efforts of the staff mentioned, there were many negatives. Upon arrival we had travelled for almost 24 hours and were exhausted. We had the flight from hell and had gotten scammed by the porters at the airport, and all we wanted to do was sleep. But when we arrived at the front desk the staff member was incredibly unwelcoming and acted like he hadn't known we were coming. I honestly felt I had an easier time getting through immigration than I did checking into this hotel. The man did not smile once, only grunted at us in Indonesian (our transport from the airport had to translate).
The rooms were fine (we stayed in Room 38 and street noise was not a problem). They were clean and a decent size. Yes, the bathrooms look old but that was not a problem for us. However the towels are old and very thin, and many of them had suspicious yellow stains all over them. We were supposed to receive a fruit basket on arrival but this never came - other guests told us they had to specifically ask for it. WiFi was supposed to be available on the verandah but often you had to go much closer to the pool to pick up the signal. I feel this is not truth in advertising. Also, there is no compendium (info book) in the rooms, which means guests are often kept in the dark about what services are available to them. Many small hotels do not have compendiums but I feel this is a small thing Bumi could do to improve it's services at a low cost.
Speaking of the pool, it badly needs retiling. Many guests told us - and believe me, guests meet and socialise around the pool all day long - that they had scratched and injured themselves on the cracked and missing tiles. The pool was not "crystal clear" while we were there; it was often cloudy. We were told there had been a problem with the chlorine, which I was told management are on top of now; of course I can't verify this without being there. Also, the spa had mold growing around the outside.
There is also a staff member there who, given the chance, will come into your room and in hushed tones try to sell you a driver for the day for cheaper than the hotel's rate. Now, I'm not silly - this is Bali, and life is hard, and people do whatever they can to survive. However when a staff member is standing between you and the door to your room and won't get the hell out, you feel harassed and intimidated, and it's just a very unpleasant experience. I will not say who it was because I don't want this person to lose their job, but I thought a mentioned should be made, as many other guests told us they felt a little harassed also.
Also, the professional photos displayed here are not accurate - I never saw anywhere like the places in the photographs.

This hotel is very nice for the price but I found it to be very noisy as it is close to the road. The room was very nice with good air-conditioning, clean with a nice bathroom. I had a walk in shower which is a lot easier for me than climbing into a bath to have a shower. Breakfast was nice but abit more expensive than you can buy at other restaurants/cafes. The pool is big with plenty sun lounges. I had a great stay, the staff are lovely and friendly.

Room Tip: If I stay here again I will ask for a room on the left side away from the road and where people live...

"the Bumi" is now our go to place in Sanur, it is a great budget hotel with everthing that you would need in the rooms..(phone, cable TV, tea/coffee fridge, comfortable bed..)
The breakfast is plentiful, with a large fresh fruit plate and good fresh juice.
The staff all remembered us which was lovely, and remembered the room numbers we stayed in!
Pool area friendly and can order food/drinks etc, very good prices.

Room Tip: We have stayed in 3 ground level rooms, the one at the back (44) was the one with the best wifi rece...

First time staying on this side of the island. Sanur is definitely quieter than the kuta area. We came as part of a group of 12 adults and children. others had arrived before us. on our arrival late in the night we were greeted with "we do not have a booking for you". we mentioned we were part of a larger group and that the booking had been made a few months before. This was then rectifyed and we were taken to our room. Upon speaking to the rest of the group they mentioned that they had received the same message. Our room was a good size and clean, bed was comfy. one concern was the bathroom. Our shower had no hot water. we were there for four days. we did mention this to reception on our first morning in but the shower was never fixed. we ended up having to take a hot shower in our friends room. the toilet also did not flush properly.. The door into the room was buckled and had a huge gap at the top. They need to do some serious fixing of these problems. Stay away from room 36 if you want a hot shower. Pool was a god send in the bali heat and was used frequently by our group. only concern were some broken tiles. the staff were lovely and helpful although not everyone spoke to you even if you spoke to them. not all the taxi drivers knew where to go or even where the hotel was. In saying all this our overall stay was ok. just a shame these few little things are what we are going to remember.
