“Back to Bumi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2013

I am about to complete another months stay at the Bumi Ayu. I have been coming here now for ten years and it is the most relaxing place to stay in Bali. Great prices clean sheets and rooms and great aircon. No hidden price or taxes like the bigger hotels. The staff are always friendly and know you by name and nothing is too much trouble. I am already planning my next trip back to this relaxing place.

Me and my mum just returned from spending 7 wonderful days at Bumi Ayu..

This is my second stay in Bumi Ayu, and unless I was staying outside of Sanur, I would not stay anywhere else.We stayed in a superior room, which was more than ample for the three of us, always clean and cool to return to after a days shopping. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning, I strongly recommend the banana pancake or vegi omelette. The coffee while you wait for your breakfast was addictive, and service in the restaurant was always fast and friendly. We spent a few relaxing afternoons by the pool, which is beautiful, we also loved the free 'afternoon tea', bali coffee and either banana or pineapple fritters served at 3:30 every day..It was quiet and peaceful and a santuary to escape to away from our busy lives, and it worked..Another strong recommendation is to enjoy a massage by Irma, the hotels masseuse. She does an hour long massage for 60,000 rupiah, $6 AU, and she will get rid of aches and pains you didnt know you had. The staff are all lovely, and will remember your name and face and try to do everything they cant to make your stay enjoyable, you just have to remember that you are in Bali, and that this is a 3 star hotel, but if you want a nice relaxing environment thats value for money without the 'fluff', then this is your place..

The only thing that did make me sad, was the stray cats and kittens, I loved them, fed them when I had leftovers and gave them milk at night. I even managed to make friends with one. I hope that the staff feed them sometimes, as there were a few nursing kittens.

We cannot wait to return in March 2014 :) Cindy, Lynne and Lynette.

Wow, what a lovely stay we had for the three weeks we were in Sanur. We had a room right near the pool amidst wonderful gardens. Fresh sheets everyday and the room cleaning staff were just delightful. Only whinge is the curtains don't block out the light from the surrounds.

Room Tip: Room 38 was great as it was at the end of the pool so you could sit on your verandah and see the wat...

Stayed here for 5 nights in February.
Wasn't overly impressed during our stay. Stayed in Room 34, Which must have been close to the road as at night had to listen to motorbikes, car and barking dogs. Also room 34 had a light right out the front which couldn't be turned off, the blinds didn't no much from stoping the light coming in. So basically the room was never dark. During our stay we got locked out of our room on 3 separate times as our door handle snapped off. Noticed other doors being repaired during our time at the hotel so must be quite common. Our bathroom constantly smelt like urine and the towels around the pool were all white and stained..weren't great.
On the plus side of things all the hotel stuff were very friendly. The location was fine. Pool was nice. Just lacking enough chairs.
I do understand this is a budget hotel, you might not be able to find much better for the price, but I'm sure you could find much the same for a cheaper rate.
Don't think i would choose this hotel in the near future.

Room Tip: Avoid room 34 :)

I stayed for 7 nights in February 2013. I found the staff all very friendly, very helpful, and overall just lovely. Our room was clean, the bathrooms are a little old, but still fine for the price they are charging. We were in room 52 and it was in a quiet location, just off the pool area. The only issue with the room was the shower head wasnt screwed in properly and moved around when trying to shower, and the fridge didnt close properly because it was very old. These were very minor and did not impact on our trip at all. The location is a short walk to the main street where there are many nice restaurants, taxi's, a short walk through the resorts on the opposite side of the road to the beach and markets. The only complaint would be the towels both at the pool and in the rooms. In the rooms, they are stained which is a little uncomfortable, and the pool towels are dirty and very very small. I would recommend buying a cheap beach towel from Hardys down the road and then just leaving it there rather than using the pool towels. Overall though, great location, lovely staff and great value for money for a 3 star Hotel. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Rooms 50 and 52 are away from the road and the pool so are quiet but still close to the pool and res...

We have stayed here every trip to Bali. We have stayed in various rooms. They are always renovating so every time we go we can notice the improvements. The staff are lovely and we always get treated like family. People must remember this isn't a rich country and they rely on the tourists. Going again in May and will definitely be staying at Bumi Ayu again.

Room Tip: Go for the higher range of quality room, a little dearer but worth it

I have stayed at Bumi ayu many, many times, and last year was lucky enough to spend 4months there!! It really feels like my second home, mainly due to the wonderful warm and friendly staff and owners of this beautiful resort! The pool is amazing, the gardens are immaculate, and the daily room service is excellent! The restaurant staff are friendly, intelligent and very caring. I have recommended Bumi to lots of friends, who are all going back year after year.over the years I have made some wonderful friendships with people from all over the world..... We keep in touch.and meet up at this haven of peace and serenity in Sanur. The only problem is when a group of Bogans stay who would be better suited to Kuta, but happily this is a rare occurrence!!!
