“Large suites, great food, lovely staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

We stayed here for 5 nights as a family with 2 teenagers. It was great that the kids each had their own room (and a bathroom each!). We were on the 4th floor towards the back of the suites away from the main pool and well away from the kids pool area but the road noise was still quite noticeable at night - I would not like to be in a room at the front. We were impressed when we were taken personally to our suite by the staff member after checking in, and our luggage was delivered promptly too. The suite itself (3 bedroom) was huge, with separate split systems for each area - though the downstairs living area stayed quite cool without it. One of the downstairs bathrooms looked as if it had been recently renovated but the other two were not, though they were ok. The kitchen was basic but the supplied water tank with both hot and cold taps was great. There was a choice of stairs or one of 2 lifts; luckily we were not too close to either (for noise reasons).

Breakfast was a very good selection of hot dishes as well as bread, pancakes, pastries, cereal and fresh fruit. The juices were very fresh. The coffee was okay but the tea was often weak and not nice at all. I did overhear someone ask for a pot of hot water and a teabag so that might have been a better idea! The ceiling fans were always going at full speed, even though it was quite mild weather, which had the effect of making warm dishes cold quite quickly...so we always tried to find a table not directly under one! We had two dinners poolside here and found the food excellent, as was the service; the prices are a little higher than alot of Sanur restaurants but sometimes you just want to stay in, plus you have the convenience of just adding it to your room bill! And love the 4-6pm Happy Hour (especially 2 mocktails for 35,000rp for the kids)! We only ordered room service once, and having been told it would be 15-20 mins (it was just soup and a pot of tea) we waited 45 mins (having called to check on progress after 30 mins) - not impressed. Housekeeping were very thorough and did a great job, cleaning every day.

The back gate was well secured and we appreciated that it was locked at night - if you look along the gang behind there are a lot of locked gates and high walls with spikes/barbed wire/thorny plants on the residences there, so I would suggest this is a wise move. Having said that, maybe 6.30pm would be better than 6pm, as it is still light at 6.30 and it means you can walk into town for a meal after Happy Hour, then taxi back later. Anyway, it is a good shortcut to the main road and Hardys supermarket was excellent and very cheap. Also some great cafes/restaurants within walking distance (such as Cafe Smorgas, Three Monkeys and The Porch Cafe) as well as local markets and reliable money changers (the ones in A/C offices!). It was not too far to walk to the beach (very nice and less hassling than Kuta) but the shuttle service was good too. We also arranged our Waterbom Park tickets from reception at a discount, very efficient as always.

The wifi was a bit slow and we could only have 2 devices connected for free (50,000rp a day for additional devices) but this was ok - we were on holiday, who wants to be 'plugged in' the whole time anyway!

My only suggestions:
-The upstairs ensuite needs a towel ring/rail/hook near the basin area for a handtowel, as currently the only towel rails/hooks are in the adjacent (separate) room which has the toilet and shower.

-A lot of light comes in the triangular window in the loft of the upstairs bedroom from early in the morning - made worse by also being reflected in the large mirror on the wall opposite! I know it is tinted but a way to cover it would be useful (or at least move the mirror!)

-If this didn't wake us, we were woken by the pair of birds flapping against the glass and pecking loudly on the window EVERY morning...maybe put a sloping surface there so they can't perch on the outside windowsill?

These were small glitches in what was overall a very enjoyable stay. Thank you to all the lovely staff!

After having a few issues with our rooms we were 3rd time lucky and found one suitable for us (noise from busy road & minor mouse problem)! Once we were able to settle in and enjoy our ENORMOUS suite we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. The rooms and amenities are very well kept and clean - our children loved the huge pool and waterslide. The staff are amazing.....very helpful and friendly people who always have a smile. The hotel was in an average location, situated on a major busy road and quite far from the beach but within easy walking distance during the day via the back gate (shuts at 6pm) to shops and restaurants. The free shuttle service between hotel, beach and Hardy's shopping centre was very handy and transport from the hotel lobby was a reasonable price. Room service options and prices were also very reasonable and the daily breakfast was always fresh and provided a good variety. My girls and I particularly enjoyed the poolside manicures, pedicures and hair braiding although you do pay a bit extra than using outside services. Happy hour by the pool was fantastic between 4-6pm (2 for 1 drinks) with a DJ and one afternoon even had a magician which our kids adored! Each night's dinner included free entertainment and one of the evenings included a family movie night. I would definately recommend Sanur Plaza Suites for families as it provides plenty of room, great facilities within the resort and a very relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road with a view over the garden or the pool.

My husband and I, plus our 3 children (ages 5, 8, 10 really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in a 3 bedroom family room, which was huge with excellent air conditioning in each room. It was very clean and the buffet breakfast fabulous. The kids loved the waterslide and we valued the included spring water supply which covered our needs all week. Loved the free wifi and made use of the free shuttle to the beach zone and department store/supermarket. The beach was only a short walk away though, and it was easy to get cheap taxi's ($3 max) to some great cheap eateries in the evening.

This was our third stay at the suites, a hotel loved by ourselves and both our boys (ages 8 and 13). The staff are fantastic, the grounds are beautiful and the rooms are spacious and clean. Located a short walk to the centre of Sanur where you can find the fabulous Hardy's supermarket which is generally as cheap as the street stalls with a lot less hassle. Sanur is great if you prefer a bit quieter atmosphere than Kuta and the Paradise Plaza Suites is a great hotel for families.

My son and I just had a fabulous stay at the suites. When we were tired we loved the room service, quick, cheap, great choices and easy! The rooms are kept extremely clean as is the pool and other facilities we used. on my second last day I broke my leg on a wet footpath in Sanur. The staff were so helpful and kind and ensured a safe passage back to Australia to have it operated on. It was our third stay at the suites and we couldn't recommend it more highly for families!
Make sure you check out the quite route to Hardy's outside the back gate. Massages along that road are terrific and the little tailors along that route are far cheaper than along the main drag in Sanur.

Room Tip: Family suites are fabulous...so roomy!

We stayed in a 2bedroom apartment, which was nicely appointed, and included 20ltr chilled and boiled water bottle for the week. Our kids loved the resort waterslide and kids zone. Take a blow-up pool ring for the slide, it gives you extra speed, all the kids seem to have them. Buffet breakfast each morning was delicious, but often waiting for eggs or pancakes or coffee. Restaurant Staff were very tentative when you asked, but they seemed to struggle to keep up with service when restaurant was full - avoid the busy times, and it will be pleasurable. Reasonably priced transport was always available at reception. Good location - only 5 min walk to Hardy's, local store, and main street for restaurants, shops etc, out the back gate. 20-30 drive to Kuta. We walked to beach for restaurants a few times, but didn't swim. Beach was ok, but kids preferred the resort for swimming, cost approx $3AUD for taxi back to hotel. Foot massage & hair braiding available by the pool for fair price. Kids had 10min mini-massages for around $2.50AUD. Happy hour 4-6pm by the pool was always a hit with 2 for 1 cocktails and mocktails. Floors everywhere are slippery when wet, so take extra care. My husband had a big fall coming down the ramp from breakfast. Room service menu had lovely food for fair price, good mix of Asian and Western, we had no trouble feeding our 7 & 9 year old boys. Had a great family feel, staff always helpful and friendly. Reception staff very helpful, they arranged our Elephant Safari, and confirmed info on Circus water park and other tours etc. We would go back again.

Room Tip: 4th floor loft rooms have stairs, and we found it very noisy underneath on 3rd floor. I would reques...

Very nice clean room. Great having a fridge and big kitchen. Our upgrade was fantastic to 3 bedroom 3 bathroom - one issue is the small main bathroom but thats not a major issue. Overlooking the pool. Teenage son loved the upstairs privacy.

Room Tip: overlooking the pool away from the elevators
