“Peaceful and friendly, true Bali.”
Reviewed 14 June 2011

The hotel was situated in central Sanur and on the beach. We had been there a few years ago so went with the trepidation it would not live up to our memories. It did.

Since our last visit the hotel was having a upgrade. The rooms/ detatched chalets were new and clean. The showers, air conditioning and facilities were first class. All the rooms seem to have a balcony and offer some privacy (dependent on position).

The breakfast is fresh fruit or juice, followed by eggs to order and toast etc. (part of the room charge).

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and it was obvious many couples returned year after year, a recommendation in itself! All at budget prices!

The hotel was close to the beach (only worth swimming at high tide) had a nice pool and adequate sunbeds.

You walk out the front of the hotel into central Sanur, with many eating and drinking establishments. I recommend the RIB restaurant, turn left for about 200m. Nice Indonesian food and a good price.

Don't tell too many people as we want to go back again next year. (Keep it a secret between us).

Room Tip: Probably 1st floor, but all have nice garden feel.

Just returned from a week stay at Besakih and loved it. We traveled with four children under 12 and found that the location and environment offered by Besakih suited our family perfectly. Because of the location of pool right on the beach we could watch the kids to play while we enjoyed a massage or manicure. How good is that? The staff were friendly and I felt relaxed and comfortable at this resort. The breakfast was enjoyable and watching the sunrise as I at bananna pancakes was a great way to start the day. There was plenty of water sports available just in frount of the resort and lots of fun shopping to keep you busy. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned every day including clean sheets and towels. Water was avalible from the cooler near by so you could top up your water bottles everyday. Save buying all the time so that was helpful. We stayed in the section yet to be renovated so the bathroom was a bit tired but for the price and the fact that we didn't spend alot of time in the room it was hardly noticed. Lots of great placees to eat nearby and we had fun trying a different one each day. Ribs was great and yes I had the ribs. You must go to the Bali Safari and Marine Park and Water Bomb Park if you have kids a very different experience to any in Australia.
Thanks Besakih we will be back for sure.

Just arrived home from a fantastic stay at Besakih! We had a standard room and yes initallty was a little taken back by the bathroom... but it's just very old but very clean. It seems the standard rooms in the block we stayed in are the last that need a revamp and are next for that. We looked in the classic and superior rooms and they are great so i will pay the extra and upgrade next time. For the price we paid and the little time we spent in the room it really was no issue.
The food is great, the pool perfect and the location is unreal and would not choose anywhere else to stay. In the last few days the hotel was fully booked but it never ever felt crowded.
Walking distance to circle k, markets and fantastic restaurants like Cinnamon, Ribs etc.
While in Sanur its a must to do Bali Safari Park and some snorkling at Bloo Lagoon.
Will return to Besakih next year, thanks guys!:}

Room Tip: Pay the extra for superior or classic room

We have just arrived home from 10 nights at the Besakih Beach Resort, we travelled with friends and had 4 standard rooms all had recently been revamped, our airconditioner was not working on arrival and they had no more double rooms available so they let us sleep that night in a twin room and fix aircon the next day, had no trouble with staff all very friendly and eager to help, one of the other rooms aircon was struggling on day 5, maintance fixed it asap, so if you think you aircon is struggling see reception and they will fix. We found room excellent, gardens etc very well maintained great pool, beautiful views, breakfast good, if you want a couple of breakfast choices from the same line just ask, we had no problems ordering extra if you wished. Rooms made up and cleaned each day, we took coffee and mugs as the cup supplied are very small we brought milk and sugar over there. Lots of restaurants close, Rib was our favourite if you walk out of the resort to main road turn left and rib in a small walk down the street, best steak ,I never thought I'd get a good steak in Bali better than a lot in Australia, there Bali food was also the best we came accross, also recommend Bonsai Cafe its left from Besahih along the beach front walking track, also recommend Little Bird and Piccadilly they are right from Besakih on the main road, Besakih is close to circle k's (convience stores) Great location close to everything, beautiful beach, safe to walk around at night, couple of pubs close one is accross the road, Massage on the beach for 60000 rp turn right along beach front and see the girls dressed in pink, brought dvds from shop next to Croc's Shop all have worked turn right along main road, had leather shoes and jacket made by Loli Leather its on main road turn right from Besakih, its just before you have to turn right at the corner we were all very happy with our shoes and coats, best price as well. We found a driver with a van his is caleed Johnny he has a 7 seat van good aircon, we conned him into buying a esky so we could take cold drinks ( mainly Bingtang) when doing a tour, he supplied the ice, he went anywhere we asked stopped for us to take photos, took us to the non tourist spots he was fantastic, we had tried a couple of others and they didn't even come close to Johnny the most we paid for a 11 hour touring day was 500000rp, thats $55.00 between 7 of us. Johnny is located just outside Besakih on the main road. We will definitely go back and take our two 11 year old kids and stay at the Besakih

We have just spent 11 nights at the Besakhi and will be definately coming back. Rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast was great and we never experienced a bad meal there. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly as well as the house keepers. The pool is great and overlooks the beach. The hotel provides chairs out on the beach under shade which was very usefull. The position in Sanur is fantastic only a short stroll to the mini mart and market stalls. Loved it and so did our young children!! Highly recommend to anybody!

Our first trip to Bali and the Besakih was recommended. We spent 4 nights there. For the price it was excellent value. Beautiful gardens. Room made up each day. Some have commented on breakfast, we found it very adequate and the bringing of our own cereal unnecessary and not used. The rooms don't provide tea or coffee, so bring your own. We also found small packets of long life milk helpful. There is a bar fridge with cold drinks available. There is also safe water provided for the kettle. The bathroom is a little tired, but fine. We found air conditioner didn't really cope to well. Great shaded area around pool. For $80 a night we would go there again. Also free wifi in hotel lobby was fast and easy to access.

We recently spent 10 days in Sanur with our 2 girls aged 8 & 12. We originally booked into another hotel but moved to the Besakih on the 3rd day because of the fabulous outlook and location.
It is a relatively small hotel with a lovely pool overlooking the ocean. There are plenty of big trees providing lots of shade at the pool and over the sun loungers on the beach.
The breakfast was included and had a reasonable choice - they didn't mind what you chose.
The restaurant staff were really friendly. The gardens are beautiful as always in Bali and you can stroll along the pathway running parallel to the beach.
Lots of nice restaurants within a stone's throw away.
For a budget hotel with no extras this is a great stay.(cost was $85us per room). Although the bathrooms are extremely tired - however everything is clean. They are apparently going to upgrade soon. I did go into a couple of the bungalows and their bathroom were a slight improvement.
The kids could just wander around and go down to the beach - very safe.
Beds were okay - perhaps a little on the firm side but not uncomfortable with air-con and pool towels - also there is free bottled water provided via a drink machine located within the grounds.
