“Best location & best valur for money”
Reviewed 25 February 2013

We recently returned from 13 nights at Besakih Beach Resort & I'm very happy to say that we where not disappointed. Although we had stayed there previously some of the recent reports made me a bit nervous, particularly as we had some newcomers to Bali staying with us. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out we got the usual friendly service & IMO on the best part of Sanur Beach. I had emailed ahead asking that our 7 rooms where close together & despite all the other guests this had been organised. There is no doubt that some of the rooms could do with a bit of modernising but they where never dirty there was always hot water & the aircon worked a treat.

Besakih is the place to go for families and couples looking for a quiet retreat. If you are looking for loud night entertainment, parties and surfing than Kuta would be the better choice for you. Besakih offers a sense of tranquility with its white sandy beaches, beautiful and relaxing pools and scenic dinning area.

Another great point for Besakih is its strategic location where you are never too far away from convent store, boutiques, restaurants and small bars. Besakih might not be a 5 star hotel but it does offer a more sense of hominess,

Like others on here we were concerned about the reviews on Trip Advisor, We have been to the Besakih many times before and have to say we were not disappointed this time. Yes, the place is old, but what it lacks in modern decor it makes up for in its welcoming atmosphere, and its wonderful employees. On our first night there I had a fall and everyone there was wonderful, they rang me each morning to make sure that I was ok. Our house keeper Rinaldi was fantastic and looked after us really well. I have read the comments about the pool, what people seem to forget it that the tiles are green anyway so the pool is not going to look sparkling blue at all, but it is clean enough to swim in, we had no problems using it. We are planning on going back there in August and will be taking 4 other people with us. I guess all I can say is that if you want absolute 5 star luxury dont go to the Besakih, the Hyatt is just up the road, but if you want a home away from home this is the place to be.

We are a family of 4 from Italy and have just spent a fanastic week at this beach resort, it was our first time in Bali. I really can't understand why so many people are disappointed with the Besakih and write such negative reviews?
On our arrival, kind & smiling staff gave us a warm welcome and immediately took the lugguage to our room. All the staff in the resort were very nice and always with a smile on their face. The restaurant is very cozy with amazing sea views, it was beautiful to sit and have breakfast basically right on the beach! We really enjoyed, every morning, the fresh homemade pancakes, fluffy scrambled eggs and the local fruit but there was also omeletts with bacon & sausage and always served quickly, so the breakfast was totally fine. The food in whole was always tasty and authentic, the noodles were delicious and we never once had a bad lunch or dinner.
Our room was basic but very clean and of a decent dimension, the sheets were changed every second day and the towels daily. We knew we were not going to a luxury resort as it was not exspensive so we did not expect 5 star accomodation. However the air con worked great and we had a modern flat screen tv. The saftey deposit box was at reception and free of charge as was wi-fi, which was in the lobby & restaurant.
The 2 pools were small but lovely and there were plenty of sunbeds & parasol's, but the great thing was that the pools and bar were right next to the beach so for us this was handy as the kids could go backwards & forwards and we, from the beach, could always have an eye on them! Lastly the gardens were well looked after, clean and with little ponds with fish & turtles.

All in all we have fond memories of this small & friendly balinesse style hotel, with it's great location and would definately not hesitate to go back again. Lisa, Gianni & girls from Italy.

Booked first then read Tripadvisor reviews on Besakih ... To be honest we were going to re-book elsewhere, I'm so glad we didn't.
The place doesn't portray itself to be 5 Star... So, I wasn't expecting it to be. The reviews are pretty much correct, the place is tired, in need of a touch of renovation and maintenance but the staff are so friendly, cleaned, ironed sheets each day, neatly pruned gardens, right on the beach. Food in Restaurant was great, Breakfast was usual with the added bonus of table service for cooked breakfasts. Turtles and fish ponds throughout gardens kept children busy as well as Betsie the resorts in-house dog kept them amused.
We had a lovely time and will definitely be returning to Besakih.

Besakih - amazing as always!! (Our second holiday there in 2012) Three couples attended for a family celebration. We had 3 beautiful rooms next to each other. Rooms cleaned each day - absolutely no complaints. A huge THANK YOU to all the staff for making our holiday such a memorable time and for all the little extras provided to us. Look forward to visiting Besakih again in 2013. Also recommend Nyoman Regogg who is stationed outside the Hotel for transport- great prices and very reliable.

I enjoyed my stay at Besakih. There have been many negative comments posted about Besakih (including a ridiculous one from someone who was not a quest) and I felt it needed defending. Besakih is a basic but very clean hotel. My room was spacious and cool. The aircon worked perfectly and goes as low as 17 degrees for those who are interested. The free breakfast was good, fresh fruit, toast, eggs and bacon or your choice of pancakes or Danish. Besakih has one of the better pools at the Sindhu end of Sanur, great for people watching and there is a smaller adults pool as well. Besakih is well located and is close to Hardys Supermarket, Sindhu art market, Circle K, and some great bars and restaurants.
