we have stayed at this hotel for many up to three times a year but finally the time has come to search for new accomodation, in the past you would pay 60/80 per night now the want $100 plus for a room that has bathroom that is totally in need of repair , to add to this the main swimming pools filter was broken and the pool water looked a sewer and they did not know when it would be fixed.
agree hotel is in a great position but is now not worth the money, i suggest to charge over $100 per night i even saw Qantas hotels at $160 per night you will get value elswhere

My husband and I stayed at Besakih in June 2013, and what I saw on the net, and what was reality were two totally different things, We stayed in a detached bunglaow (suposedly superior) We travel to Bali a couple of times a year, and this is the first time I have ever been dissapointed. the rooms were old, with cracked tiles, with the gaps around the door and windows, I was forever spraying for mosquito's, The shower didn't drain away, the bath was way past it's use by date, also the shower took forever to get warm, or get get pressure and the fridge was only big enough to put 2 six packs in it, this also did not work, and was replaced. The breakfast is really basic, and if you like soft yolks but turned, be prepared for rock hard eggs. One night I rang room service for some ice, and was told "it is free, come and get it" Most of the staff were lovely, and the access to the beach is great, but after looking through other resorts close by there is no Comparison.
When my husband and I were at reception, there were pamphlets of the resort, I asked my husband where and when he thought the photo's were taken, because we did not see any of that. This place needs a total revamp, and is totally over priced

The positives; well located, with great beach view from the restaurant and in easy walking distance to some massage parlors, shops and good restaurants. The taxi drivers that are within the hotel driveway are very knowledgeable and friendly offering fair rates. Ask for Putu, he is wonderful!! The hotel staff are also very friendly and helpful. That unfortunately is where the positives end.
The negatives; the rooms are not as per the hotel website but are dingy, dirty and for the price are simply not worth it. We were initially put into a room on the first floor where rooms are very dark backing onto a closed passage. We asked to move to the ground floor. The toilet would not flush through and leaked. The shower would switch between boiling hot and freezing cold about 5 times in 5minutes, which made showing very difficult. We reported both and while the toilet was 'fixed' (it leaked less), the shower issue remained (although we weren't ever given an update).  The bathroom was also not very clean and stained. The cupboard also still had 2 pairs of underware in it, who knows how long they had been lurking there for? The TV was barely worth turning on as the signal was so bad that you could not watch it. There was also old dry blood on our bedsheets!! No wifi in the bedrooms. Room walls so thin that we could hear the TV on in the next room.
A slightly separate comment, which is neither good nor bad, but worth noting, is that my husband and I were the youngest people at the hotel by about 35years (we are 30 years old). Which means that there is a lot of shouting at breakfast time as couples talk to one another so that their partner can hear them :) the thin hotel walls therefore are probably enhanced by older folk talking loudly to one another.
It really is a pity as the hotel has potential. We will not be back as better value can be found pretty much anywhere else.
We however can recommend the driver Putu, and if you are in the area it would be worth walking there to meet him and ask him to drive you around for your time in Bali.

Room Tip: Stay on the ground floor if you still decide to stay here. I would also try to negotiate the rate gi...

We stayed here for a week. Small older style bali hotel. Rooms are clean, go for a Bungalow, much nicer. 2 small pools, one with swim up bar that closes at 6pm. No facilities to make drinks at the swim up bar, only what is premixed or beers in the fridge, the barman leaves to bar to go and make drinks, so a bit of a wait.
Very quiet hotel with older crowd.
Staff mostly friendly some at reception not so friendly. Great location on the beach with your own beach chairs and great massage ladies on the beach. No hassle on the beach, very quiet and nice view.

Room Tip: Go for a Bungalow, much nicer

Loved that it was situated right on the beach and the rooms were comfortable, however it was almost impossible to get a lounge by the pool as several people 'reserved' them by placing their towels on from early in the morning and barely used them all day, which I found extremely annoying as nothing was done about it, even though the hotel claimed to charge people for leaving their towels for longer than an hour. The staff were not as welcoming as other resorts I have stayed at (except for the housekeeping) and seemed disinterested in ensuring that we were looked after. We were not supplied bottles of water daily but water in jugs which we were not willing to drink as we had no idea where the water came from nor were we told about it when we arrived. The only 2 bottles of water we did receive we were charged for and not correctly either as they charged us for 2 bintangs instead of 2 waters and when I questioned this they disagreed and continued to charge for the beers. Also was mainly a much older crowd than us. Breakfast was very limited too compared to other resorts.

Lovely gardens, staff and accomodation. Best part of this resort is that it is right on the beach in Sanur. You can laze in the pool and watch the ocean ...Food is good and the beer is cold. A great place to meet new people and the location in Sanur is wonderful. Drivers are always at the ready. Excellent restaurants just a hop, skip and a jump away.
Would stay there again in a heartbeat !!!

Room Tip: The bungalows are heavenly for privacy and the rooms on the second are great for privacy as well. Be...

Traveling as a family of four and spent 8 nights. stayed next door at the Griya two years ago and opted for a cheaper option this time. We booked two interconnecting standard rooms as we were traveling with children. The check in process was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We weren't terribly impressed with the standard rooms. They were a bit dark and one of the bathroom a little mouldy. Also a lot of people traffic walking past, a little noisy. (I just like peace and quiet- this probably wouldn't bother most people). Anyway the next day we enquired about moving to a superior room and the lady at reception was most helpful and arranged it for us. Our new rooms were larger and brighter and the only noise was the peaceful sound of the water feature in the fishpond. It was spacious, clean, every thing in working order. Air conditioning very cool. Nice large shower. Breakfast was included and you get choice of eggs and bacon, coffee, tea , choice of juices, toast, pastries, fruit, also nasi goreng. The beach was a little dirtier than I remembered this time but the staff did clean the area every day. Loved the garden setting of this hotel. Lots of fish ponds and even a tortoise pool. The two pools were lovely to swim in. Never had any trouble getting a lounge chair by the pool. There is a little shop right across the road for water snacks etc and also a mini mart a little further down and then the big Hardys supermarket where you can pretty much get anything from food to souvenirs about 5 mins walk . What I love about the location is everything you need is within walking distance. Restaurants on the street or beachfront, supermarkets, chemist, stalls, shops, markets. We were never hounded by anyone at tge beach, sure people come and ask if you want nails, massage, hair braiding or come look my shop but never hounded as others suggest. We love the quiet nature of Sanur. Mostly older people and young families were at the hotel which suited us. We found the staff were always friendly helpful and smiling. We can't fault the service here at all. Finf it hard to understand other people's reviews. We had a lovely experience here and will definitely return.
