“Average at best! Better value for money elsewhere!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2014 via mobile

Only thing Besakih really has going for it is the location being beachfront. We stayed in room 289 which was at the back near the road, extremely noisy room of an evening, noise coming from traffic & music from bars......avoid rooms near road!
Tried their restaurant for breakfast once & lunch once, both times very disappointing, food is disgusting. Much better options for dining close by.
Housekeeping staff were friendly however staff in restaurant had an 'I don't care' attitude.
The pool was in poor condition, water was not clean & in desperate need of acid, did not swim in it as it wasn't safe to do so.
For over $100 per night it was a disgrace! Better value can be had elsewhere in Sanur.
We live in Bali & visit Sanur a lot but won't be going back to Besakih unless they clean up their act.
Not pleased at all!

Spend 2 nights here in Dec with my extended family. We all loved this place and its location facing the sea. We can either swim in the sea or in the hotel pool with sea view. The hotel service was good, the staff at the breakfast room was courteous and cheerful. Enjoyed every minute of our stay and want to come back again.

Stayed here for 2 nights in november. Paid extra for a Bungalow room but was very disappointed. Room was very basic, bathroom was in poor condition with mouldy cracked tiles, definitely needs renovating. There were no toiletries provided except for small bars of soap and no bottles of drinking water. Room was small with no frills.

Lovely grounds which leads to the beach, we loved walking along the beach path. Breakfast was very basic - had the same food everyday so you would be bored with it if you stayed longer, made to order omelettes which was nice, fried noodles and rice, toast, croissant and a pastry and fruit juices which were not freshly squeezed.

Location of hotel was good, not too far from the famous Hardy's and near enough to lots of restaurants.

Room Tip: Don't think there are any!

After 30 years of visiting Bali, we decided for the first time to stay at Sanur, & chose Besakih, & glad we did. The hotel is a bit tired, but the service & atmosphere are absolutely fantastic. The restaurant & pool, which are right on the beach are great for people watching as they are so close to the path, which has people walking, jogging or cycling past all day. The beach is clean, with shady trees, & is raked each day.

The location is perfect too, with a money changer, mini - mart, massage studios, laundry, & some really great restaurants within 100 metres or so. Can recommend the Mona Lisa, Rib, Cinnamons, & Ratatouille for great food at cheap prices. We will be going back there every trip from now on.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are quieter with good balconies.

Stayed October 2013, as a couple, in a garden bungalow.
Check-in efficient, room adequate, a/c worked, plumbing worked, bed comfortable, housekeeping efficient, some age-weariness noted.
POSITIVES:
Location great - one of the best along the Sanur beach front with some big shady trees.
Grounds lovely (especially the turtles), similar fellow guests.
Loved relaxing in the pool with a cocktail/Bintang watching the rest of Sanur walk by. 
Variety of restaurants nearby both on the beachfront and road behind – no problems with any that we went to – all lovely.
Money changers and taxis easily available.
Hire a pushbike (quite a few places to get them) and explore the surrounds, Rp30,000 for 24hrs, bargain!
Only one department store in the area – Hardy’s, but at Sanur Village markets there are ‘fixed price’ shops, I went to Tootsie’s which I’d heard of.
Water sports available from the beach – only jetskis available directly from Besakih, otherwise they transport you along the beach a bit for banana boat, flying fish, etc.
Rp30,000 for 15mins on jetski.

NEGATIVES:
No bottled water, no clock, no shampoo/conditioner, no tissues.
Small buffet breakfast, with no change from day to day.
Eggs cooked for you individually. Initially I’d ask for one fried egg and some crispy bacon, I’d get two fried eggs and one bit of bacon. I don’t think I actually ever got the right order.
Restaurant adequate if a little expensive.
Hotel Bintangs Rp30,000 plus tax. Other restaurants start at Rp18,000 upwards.
Pool appeared ‘green’ but this is due to the green/dark tiles.
Not a lot of sunbeds by the pools, however extra sunbeds on the beach and you don’t get hassled.
Hotel has a policy of not allowing sunbeds to be 'saved', however this did not seem to be enforced – a pet peeve.

Overall, Besakih is an average pleasant hotel.

This was our second visit to this Hotel and enjoyed every minute - the staff were wonderful and did all they could to make our stay special we will certainly be coming back. Sad news Betsy the hotel dog passed away on 14th october 2013 which was very upsetting for us as she had spent almost two weeks with us but was very old and is now in a better place.
