“Perfect stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2012

We stayed in Sanur Beacht Hotel from november 1st until november 17th 2012 with another couple of friends; everything was OK; especccialy the service for my wife who had trouble with her back; they replaced the matrass the next day and kindly asked yhe next day if it was OK!
Very good breakfast buffet; nice swimmingpools en poolservice!
We chose this hotel becaus of it's fitness club, but it was closed for 4 months! But they drove me to another club every day for free.
Our friends had never been in Bali before but have been flying all over the world as KLM personal ; they were also very satisfied with the complete package!

Room Tip: upgrade from standard room and ask rooms at the left side of the building (near the Garuda Lounge)

Stayed at the Sanur Beach Hotel for 4 nights in November with my mother, after a hectic 4 nights in Hong Kong. We had a lovely spacious room on the first floor overlooking the beautiful pool and couldn’t fault our accommodation. Robes and slippers were provided, along with the usual complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee. There was a fridge and a safe in the room. All the hotel staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. We had a problem one evening when the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. We rang reception who sent a member of staff who turned up with replacement toilet rolls! However once he understood what the problem was, we didn’t have to wait long for the plumber and the problem was soon rectified.

We only ate breakfast at the hotel but couldn’t fault it. There was an excellent choice of juices, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, different breads, cereals, salads, meats, cheese, muffins etc. We loved the pool which is large with plenty of sunbeds. The beach is literally 2 minutes walk from the pool and whilst we were there the hotel released some baby turtles back into the ocean - it was wonderful to watch the first one reach the sea and swim off – though one or two seemed reluctant to leave the beach!

We had some lovely meals at Poco Bello (very reasonably priced cocktails) and Retro. Food at both was very good and reasonably priced. We also ate at one of the warungs up by the Hyatt one night, I can’t remember the name but the Greek salad and snapper was delicious. On our last day I had lunch at Bobby’s next door to the hotel which I’d also recommend. For some reason I had problems using the hotel Wi-Fi on my phone but had no problems at Bobby’s and the food is much cheaper than that served at the hotel.

I’ve read some reports of the rooms and hotel looking ‘tired’ but that wasn’t our experience from our short stay at the Sanur Beach Hotel.

Can't fault it really. It's a big hotel, but very, very friendly and efficient staff. Everything works well, and any requests are quickly responded to. We had a Deluxe Garden room, which I'd recommend. Overlooks the lush gardens on both sides. Very, very quiet, so great if you want a good nights sleep. Nice balcony. The rooms are a decent size, not enormous. Possibly due for a renovation, but clean, comfortable. Good free wi-fi in your room. Air conditioning a bit on the noisy side.The hotel runs a shuttle bus to Kuta if you want to brave that place. Also an hourly shuttle to Hardy's in the centre of Sanur. The fitness centre was being renovated when we were there but the hotel provided a free taxi to a nearby gym, very efficiently. Breakfast buffet was good - anything you could possibly want to eat, accompanied by bamboo gamalan musicians. The in-house bars and restaurants are moderately priced. The pools are pristine and warm. The beach is clean and only a few metres from the well kept grounds. There are some lovely little bars and warungs just along the beach path - you get hassled a bit by touts along the path, but nothing much really. Plenty of water sports nearby as well. Shopping in Sanur was better, in my opinion, than Kuta, and a lot less hassle. Overall we had a lovely 8 days at the Sanur beach hotel and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Deluxe Garden rooms are very quiet. Use the free Kuta shuttle to get to Waterbom park - it drops yo...

We chose this hotel from the reviews posted. We are glad we chose this hotel for the following reasons:-

1. Service and food quality are great - especially at breakfast with changes of food every two to three days;
2. We booked three rooms for our family, and other than the room we had, 806, the airconditioning was good;
3. Staff were friendlyand helpful especially at breakfast and in particular Anita.

We like to comment that the room cleaning staff could improve in the quality of housekeeping as they do not wipe and arrange the items very well. In this area, we were disappointed - the only housekeeping they do is to wipe the floor and nothing else.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary at Sanur Beach Hotel and had a really wonderful time. Nothing was too much trouble for Wisnu and his excellent staff. We had a romantic diinner in a gazebo decked out with candles and drapes - it was a really beautiful setting. We even had a band playing just for us and they sang all our favourite requests.

Many thanks to Wisnu Aditya and Imam Nugroho for making out evening and our stay so very special. It was so good that we are planning to return very soon.

The Sanur Beach Hotel is an old hotel, but scrupulously clean and well-maintained. When we were there, one of the lifts broke down, but was quickly repaired and back in service. The staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. We ate at the hotel several times and found the food really good and reasonably priced. Our room on the 4th floor was quiet and spacious; it had everything we needed All in all,this hotel provides good value and excellent service. We were so impressed that we intend to come again next year. We loved having a drink at Happy Hour, then watching the sunset from the beach.

Room Tip: We had a non-smoking room on the 4th floor which we were very happy with.

So I am writing this review as a person who read other peoples reviews and chose this hotel. I will give honest feedback so people can get a fair idea of what they are getting. I have been to Bali 7 times and stayed in various levels of accommodation.

The good:
The setting is awesome on the beach, the pool(s) are great, the staff are polite, restaurants in Sanur are great (use other Tripadvisor reviews as I did, they were spot on), breakfast best in Bali.

The bad:
It felt like a retirement village with majority of the guests over 60 in speedos and bikinis.
The rooms were a disappointment - took about 5 minutes to get hot water in the shower, the bar fridge was horribly warm (couldn't even keep beer warm and no room inside), the air conditioning was useless. I had to change from an ocean view room to a bottom level because of the useless air conditioning.
Service was atrocious on the last day. We were told the night before that we could get "breakfast boxes" delivered to our room at 6am because we had an early checkout (6.30am). Breakfast never arrived and when my wife went to do the final checkout the boxes were sitting on the front counter. All they could do was say "Sorry miscommunication, but we were told they would come to our room". As such missed out on breakfast but didn't get refunded.

I use Tripadvisor for reviewing all my holidays and this my first stay in Sanur. Hopefully people will read this and now what they are getting in for. If your under 40, I reckon there are better options.

Room Tip: Ground levels seem to better of the worst air con. Ocean views are a waste of money
