The place is large, fairly well maintained for its age, and has ample beds and swimmingpools.
It is located at the beach, clean and little persons passing by.
Rooms are fine, also clean but quite basic.
Value for money is great.
Be prepared to be outnumbered by the Dutch who seem to have set up a colony in this hotel, average age 65+.
Breakfast is fine, just wonder why the eggstation has 1 person at peaktime (9:30 am) working himself crazy when there are 4 burners, maybe add a second?

The Italian restaurant seems deserted at lunch but the location is nice enough so we gave it a try. That's a no-go. Pizza ham / pineapple came back as a massive heap of melted cheese. Could not see any pineapple or ham, but after digging half a centimeter down found some. Explained very simply why nobody was there, the other guests must have tried eating here once as well!

We decided to eat at some small restaurants just north along the beach or on the road in front of the hotel.

All in all, good location, good facilities and good price.

We have been to Sanur about 5 times. We have always managed to stop at the Sanur Beach Hotel to visit/drink/relax a the Bamboo Bar which is beach front. Imagine our surprise when we learned that the BB will be a thing of the past when the the outdoor bar is completed. it is now under construction. The unique thing about the BB is that its round , the seats are swings and its right on the beach. Now I am sure that this great place is being replaced with a much larger place. Unfortunately the BB only seats about 18 around the bar. There are tables there also, but its not like sitting at the bar in swings. The staff is great, the happy hour is great. Sorry to see it go.

Dear Mr/s. Jonbarb,

Thank you for your recent comments and the observation you have made.
Indeed the “old bamboo bar” will be replaced by a “new bamboo bar” right next to it.
The hanging chair will be as well a part of the new bar & beachfront lounge.
The bar area by itself will be 4 times the size than the existing once. We will have various lounge corners on wooden decks stretched along the boardwalk. The positioning of the bar will give you plenty of great looks over the 650 meter stretch of our beach front and the Indian ocean. Additional daybeds as well bean bags will be added to the sight. With all the new things being put in place we believe we will have a very unique place, which kept it’s integrity to traditional building materials, design and style. I am looking forward to welcoming you in the near future. Please feel free to contact me at anytime, if I can be of any assistance. stefan.mueller@aerowisatahotels.com

We enjoyed a very relaxing week at The Sanur in March which is supposedly the 'wet season' but we only saw rain for half an hour one evening - most of the time it was hot, humid and sunny. Our deluxe seaview room 603 was extremely comfortable, a bit dated in style as that particular block was built in the 90s, but it was clean, spacious with a huge comfortable bed with crisp white bedding. We had no problems with the air conditioning as it worked efficiently enough.

The staff were lovely people and very helpful. The main pool is huge with its 'swim-up bar' and plenty of sunloungers and the most wonderful temperature for swimming - no 'shock getting in the water' there. Watersports were available on the beachfront. The gardens were delightful with many water features and little temples/shrines everywhere. Breakfasts were a complete feast of the usual cooked English stuff, freshly made omelettes with one or two eggs and various fillings, hardboiled, fried and scrambled eggs, some Malaysian dishes (Nasi Goreng and noodles), salamis, meats, salad etc. freshly chopped fruits of all types, cereals, coffee, tea, juices, pastries, cakes, freshly made banana muffins, etc etc. You could sit there eating for hours if you'd wanted to! All served in the lovely open Tirta Restaurant overlooking the pool and out to sea.

We dined in their Italian Restaurant, Basilico, on two occasions and I absolutely adored the lamb cutlets. Someone on here said there was no wine, but you only had to ask for the wine list. We had a pretty decent bottle of red, obviously a lot more expensive than wine at home because of the addition of 20% taxes and 10% service charge in Bali which brought the price up to about £22 a bottle. For red we mainly drank the Plaga Cabernet Sauvignon or the Two Islands Shiraz which we thought were palatable enough, but there were plenty of better wines obviously much more expensive. The rest of the time we dined in Sanur at various restaurants that were in walking distance from the hotel - the closest being Mezzanine (Japanese, Thai & Italian) and Ristorante Sale e Pepe which are literally just minutes away from the front of the hotel, and further on The Fire Station (Aussie steaks & Sunday roasts!), Massimos (good Italian and very popular), Rocket Bar (bit like a Sports Bar but had a reasonable fillet steak) and finally Warung Little Bird which is a long walk up Tamblingan but if you want to try more of the local food at cheap prices it's recommended on Tripadvisor restaurants as are all the ones we tried.

Personally, although the rooms or bathrooms could do with a refurb, we thought the Sanur excellent value for money with some restaurants on site and the resort town of Sanur literally on your doorstep. There's also a spa, bank, shops, internet access and hairdressers on site if you need them and security at the front and back of the hotel. They also do a half hourly free shuttle bus to Hardys Discount Store if you want a large supermarket with local clothes and goods upstairs. To sum it up, we had a great time with no problems at all. It was very relaxing.

Room Tip: Our deluxe seaview room 603 (on first floor) was fine and the aircon worked well enough. Apparently...

Beachfront location of the hotel is a plus point as well as being very close to the centre of Sanur. The hotel is well run with friendly staff all over the hotel wanting to help and assist in all they can. The hotel rooms are a little dated but dont be put off by this as you wont spend too much time in the room. Great facilities in the hotel a good choice breakfast and also in the evening there are various restaurants on the grounds to chose from at very good value. These include a local Indonesian and also an Italian. Nice pool areas with lots of sunbeds, the hotel has plenty of greenery and space. It is the ideal place to come and relax in peaceful surroundings and also having on your doorstep a fairly lively resort if you like.

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms are quiet, perhaps ground floor rooms dont get as much heat in them as rooms highe...

Great area, lots of restaurants around, we went to a different one every night. Massages most places on main road were $5, dont have to go to beach to get one. Pools were lovely with plenty of chairs around. Staff were very nice, even the staff at front door, opening and closing for you. We had a garden view deluxe room. Great size, but like other people have mentioned, needs to upgrade. Bathroom didnt have enough lighting and water from bath/shower would leak on floor out to bedroom. Also the drainage wasnt good, because we would have a shower and a bath together, the water didnt drain for ages. The bar fridge wasnt really worth having as it couldnt be altered so it wasnt cold. Breakfast was massive and yummy. The only wierd thing was when my son put milk on cereal it tasted like runny icecream. It was gross, so he didnt have it anymore. Food around the pool was a bit expensive, (a very very small bowl of chips over $5.) All hotel food and drink charged at 22%. I only say this because food outside hotel is so cheap and yummy.

We stayed in a Garden View delux room, it was just beautiful to look out on our terrace to see ducks grazing in the gardens. It was quiet and lush. Pool areas were fantastic with swim up bar. Gym was really well equipped with modern equipment. Breakfast area was fantastic with a huge range of delicious food to cater for every taste. There are restaurants just outside of hotel both front and back. The age group was more mature, 40+ upwards which I enjoyed. No rowdy 20 some things. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I would chose a deluxe room with garden view if you want peace and quiet. The pool/ocean view rooms...
