“Best family holiday ever!”
Reviewed 6 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We have just come back from a fabulous holiday in Bali. Most of the enjoyment is credited to this amazing villa. The Villa Sanur.
The architectural design is quite like a hobbit sort of house. We loved the layout of it. The villa is segregated into two separate living quarters. Which for us was ideal as we were two families holidaying together (4 adults and 4 children). We each had two bedrooms and bathrooms. All the bedrooms were quite spacious. 3 toilets inside and one outside. Outdoor kitchen and dining table for eight. Two televisions, a study and many lounges in different areas to laze around on. The garden is a wonderful playground for children. My two girls aged 8 and 5 spent most of their time looking in the pond for fish and cat fish or finding frogs and geckos around the yard. They even had some family cows out the back too. The garden has lots of beautiful tropical plants throughout, grassy area, sun beds and hammock. The pool is a good size and is fenced to keep your mind at peace with smaller kids.
Komang the manager at the villa is absolutely fantastic. Great guy with a beautiful smile. Greeted us when we arrived and helped us out with all our queries. Ordered us in slabs of beer, take away food and helped us organise some day tours with the villa driver Nyoman who took us Ubud, rice terraces, volcano, monkey forest and WaterBom (water park). Komang also arranged for in-house massages and mani and pedis. Heaven!
A cooked breakfast was included in the price of the accommodation and Jero, the cook and housekeeper was lovely. Cooked pancakes for the kids everyday and eggs for the adults, anyway we wanted them. She kept the villa spotless and beautiful.
Out the back blue door is the way to the beach where only 100 metres down the road there are many restaurants and cafes along the water front. Or a short 15 min walk out the front door to the city centre where there are lots more restaurants and shops to discover. There are taxis everywhere if you don't want to walk too. It is a perfect location.
I highly recommend this villa. Kristen and Richard, the owners of the villa always responded promptly to my emails and payment was made very easily.
This holiday has been one of my favorites. And we have traveled all over Asia. We loved it so much because it was so relaxing staying here. Kids were entertained in the pool and garden. It has great welcoming staff and everything about the villa was fantastic. Hope to return again and again.

Sanctuary in Sanur !!
We just experienced & enjoyed the most amazing holiday staying at the Villa Sanur with extended family - 5 adults & 2 babies in October. From my first dealings with Kristen & Richard on email to our arrival & meeting Komang and his wonderful team it has been the easiest holiday to arrange & we were made to feel so welcome and to enjoy the villa like it was our own !! (Haha can only dream) the beautiful gardens we spent so much time in asking Komang about all the plants & the fish in the pond, the pool was amazing and so good it was fully fenced, the house was so cool with all the open living areas and we ate the most amazing food - thank you to Jaro for our delicious breakfasts each morning and Mrs Gusti who wowed us with her unbelievable cooking for 5 out of the 10 nights - still thinking about those curries !! The location was brilliant with a short stroll from the back gate to the start of the broad walk at Sanur Beach & so many delicious warungs & so easy to walk into Sanur also. Thank you also for arranging additional car seats & cots nothing was too much trouble, we appreciated it so much. We were sad to say goodbye !! Thank you for making our first family holiday with our babies one we will never forgot xx

“A perfect family holiday destination!”
Reviewed 18 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed at the Villa Sanur with our extended family (5 adults and 2 infants). The villa is stunning! A hidden oasis in beautiful Sanur. The gardens are lovingly maintained and are one of the highlights of the place. The pool is wonderful and is fenced, which is great for little ones. The living spaces are large, cool and private, making the villa ideal for groups. There are also plenty of private living spaces scattered through the villa and gardens to relax in. The back gate leads directly to the beach, via a local temple and some small warungs.
Komang, the villas manager, was great, helping us to organise food, drinks, drivers and day trips. Jero, the housekeeper, kept the place spotless and cooked us beautiful eggs and pancakes each morning. We had the in-house cook, Mrs Gusti, cook us multiple dinners, sampling her amazing Indonesian, Balinese and Indian cooking.
Our only regret was having to leave. I hope we'll be back to visit one day soon!

“Everything you could want and more!”
Reviewed 30 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We recently had an amazing stay at the Villa Sanur and can't rave about it enough. We travelled with another family (4 adults and 5 children all under 5 in total) and the entire stay was wonderful and incredible value for money. The villa is gorgeous and quirky with everything you could possibly want. It is extremely well designed for families with children, the layout is perfect and there is so much space for the children to explore! Fishing in the pond was a definite favourite! Komang and the other staff were beyond fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our daily Indonesian lesson. And the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten!
To be travelling with young children and to have had such a wonderful, relaxing holiday is a testament to the hard work Kristen and Richard have put into ensuring everything is thought of, recommending amazing people (cooks, nannies etc) to make sure it was like a home away from home...... Only much better!!! We can't wait to visit again!

“Just Perfect”
Reviewed 14 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This June five of us travelled to Bali for a "Boys Holiday" the first half of the holiday was in Ubud and we did all the adventure stuff, Rafting, Quads, Canoeing on Lake Batur etc.
The second part we stayed at Villa Sanur to rest and recuperate, when you book accommodation across the internet it does feel like a bit of a gamble, however I hit the jackpot with Villa Sanur!, my dealings with Kristen and Richard were hassle free from day one, they were always very accommodating to my requests, they have setup their Villa so you don't have to worry about a thing for instance there is a Villa mobile phone for local calls when you are in and away from the Villa with preset numbers to the staff and others to fill your needs.
Villa Sanur is an exceptional Villa it's grounds are walled, very secure and child friendly it is styled in a very interesting and organic architecture that photos don't do justice for, all of the rooms are very spacious, super clean, and contain everything you require for relaxed holiday, the kitchen is fully featured with filtered water on tap, a huge fridge that will house all the food and Bintang you could possibly wish for, there is coffee, tea, milk, etc. available at all times, I scored a lot of kudos from the other guys in my group for choosing Villa Sanur.
The grounds are highly manicured and the pool is kept clean and sparkling, the whole property has little nooks and crannies and interesting features to explore. The beach is about a 5-7 minute walk out the back gate and has some interesting little shops and a restaurant with seating literally on the water's edge.
The Villa is located in the Southern region of Sanur and is within an easy walk to shops and restaurants, it is away from the somewhat more busy centre of Sanur but only by a few minutes in a Taxi or on a bike or Scooter, Sanur is one of the few villages in Bali where scooter and pushbike riding is an absolute breeze with its more relaxed way of life and much smaller crowds.
I have left my review of the staff till last because they left the most lasting impression.
Komang and the rest of the staff are exceptional and were a highlight of our stay, if the Villa had any negative aspects (which it doesn't!) they would more than compensate. The breakfast's were always prepared well with the table set beautifully with enough food, drinks and fruit for five hungry Aussie guys to kick-start their days. The grounds are kept immaculate daily by the staff who manage to get their work done quietly without intruding on your holiday, at the same time if you want to ask them something they are friendly and make you feel that nothing is too much trouble.
Komang is the "go to" man in the Villa if you need or want anything, Icy cold Bintang's, Scooters, Taxi's, Fireworks for the beach or knowledge of things in the area of Sanur or the island of Bali he is the man to see or even if you just want to talk about Balinese culture or any subject he is happy to make himself available, indeed a perfect host.
We are hoping to stay at Villa Sanur again and I don't hesitate in recommending the Villa to anyone.

“Family friendly gorgeous villa”
Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I stayed at The Villa Sanur with my husband, 4 year old son and a friend.

We initially chose The Villa Sanur as it has a pool fence and is a family friendly villa. We found it hard to find villa style accommodation that was safe for young children.

We arrived in the dark and were greeted by the lovely Komang. Our jaws dropped when we entered the grounds! At night, with the garden lit up, it looked spectacular. When we woke in the morning, the villa was even more impressive in the day light. Such amazing gardens and little corners to discover.

The pool was perfect for us with a large shallow section that was great for our 4 year old to safely play in. And the fence gave us such peace of mind that he would be safe at other times.

The design of the villa was so different to everything else we looked at, so that was also a draw card. It was great to stay somewhere that was out of the ordinary and so different to a resort.

We also liked the location. It was nice and quiet but still close enough to walk to the beach (very close) and to some nice cafe's/warung's. We did use a taxi to get to the main part of Sanur, mainly as our son could not make the distance. But there are lots of taxi's around so that was not an issue, and they are CHEAP.

The villa manager, Komang, was also a huge asset to our stay. He helped us out with all of our questions and anything we needed. Our son followed him around helping with the daily jobs and Komang played with him whenever he could. Such a gentle and lovely soul.

“Be amazed and delighted.......”

There are many holiday villas in Sanur but this one stands out. Comfortable clean accommodation with 4 large enthralling double bedrooms, 3 spacious ensuites, expansive seating areas to relax in, computer study with free Wifi available, plus interesting openair mosaic tiled kitchen...however it is the architecture and the enchanting garden that really captures the atmosphere of this unique and mystical villa. A large shallow 30cm lily pond stocked with hundreds of goldfish, dominates the centre of the garden. Here you will find water plants, dragon flies, butterflies, ornate shrubs, garden art, water fountains, enchantment and wonderment. The estate is a walled haven, private and secure, located at the southern beach end of Sanur, close to the Mercure hotel and the start of the boardwalk. Yes...you can walk through the lockable blue door to the hustle and bustle of Sanur....trawl the market places....tempt your taste buds with local cuisine...run on the beach...but it is when you return to the villa that you truly appreciate where you are staying. Komang the villa manager is exceptional in his service and local knowledge. Breakfast menu is delicious and plentiful. Pool is clean and inviting, and fenced should you have little ones. But it is the garden that holds the secrets to this Alice in Wonderland environment. A new adventure around every corner, a path taking you on a journey of discovery.....all the while wrapping you in relaxation and a sense of peace. Come nightfall when the garden lights turn on and the fantasy of a favourite fairytale runs through your mind, you find yourself totally engrossed in this awe inspiring setting. Whatever your age, young or young at heart, The Villa Sanur is captivating. I highly recommend staying here....yes....as with other villas it has the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the amenities, but what makes this villa stand tall above the others is how it makes you FEEL....it is magical, it is motivating..it won't disappoint.
