We spent a week at papaya villa in May/June and fell in love with the place. The photos do not do justice to this beautiful villa. Having been to Bali and stayed in a variety of villas around the island, this one is by far our favourite. The pool is stunning and well maintained. The bedrooms are spacious and beds super comfy. Bathrooms are beautiful and can be closed to the elements which is great if you want to lock out mozzies! The villa has an indoor air conditioned living room which is fantastic ( and unusual for villas in Bali) if you are needing a break from the heat or the kids want to chill out and watch a movie without worrying about bugs or pools. There is even a washing machine and fourth toilet out near the pool! The location is suburb and I could quickly walk to the supermarket, restaurants, the laundry or my $6 hour massage. OMG this place is bliss!! Bill and Maureen are ex pats who own the villa and you couldn't ask for better service. Bill would pop in every couple of days and nothing was ever a problem. We absolutely loved our time at Villa Papaya and will definitely be back xx

“Great Villa, Great Location, Great privacy.”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Wow, how good is this Villa. Bill and Maureen were there to greet us and give us a tour of the Villa along with tips for dining and touring around, which we done a lot of with the best driver & tour guide Katut (arranged via Bill) Papaya Villa has everything to make your holiday great. The main bedroom is huge, with a King /King bed, and ensuite with dressing room, 2 more b'rooms with ensuites upstairs. Comfy beds & pillows, top quality linen along with some very interesting furnishings. A swim in the pool was always a great relief at the end of each day.The kitchen has everything you need but may not want to use too often as there are some great places to eat only a short walk away. There is a washing machine at the Villa which we used, but there is a Laundry only a couple of doors up from the Villa, cheap and handy. There is a Tailor across from your back door which we also used to make alterations to some clothing that we purchased. Everyone is so lovely and friendlly. We all loved Bali and if we get to go back we want to stay at Papaya Villa and have Katut as our driver. Stop looking this is the best place to stay.

“Awesome Villa”
Reviewed 28 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We stayed for 17 nights in March and were really impressed with the layout and quality of the villa and also the owners, Bill & Maureen. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they would drop by every few days just to make sure everything was ok. They have extensive knowledge of the area and are handy for tips on where to eat, things to do etc.
There is plenty of room throughout the villa to get some space if you are travelling in a group as we were for part of our holiday, we had the 2 upstairs rooms to ourselves and our toddler son while a couple had the more generous sized downstairs room and onsuite to themselves which I'm sure was a relief from our son at times.
We were particurelly interested on the security of the villa when we arrived and didn't have to worry, all the locks throughout the villa work perfectly and doors closed nicely so mosquitoes were not an issue either. The villa is surrounded by high walls and felt nice and private.
The kitchen has everything you need for cooking meals but there is that many quality restaurants close by that will deliver to you door so really there is no need to sweat it in the kitchen anyway!
The pool is a nice size for cooling off with a shallow end and then drops off just enough for diving into at the other end. As our son worked out he is a fish while we were there the shallow end was perfect for him to start experimenting without his floating devise on. We didn't install a fence but it would be very easy to put one up if you needed to.
The location is just in behind Hardy's shopping centre down a quiet laneway and has a real local feel when you walk out from the villa, very peaceful. When you do venture out its a 2 minute walk to the main drag in Sanur with all the usual shops, restaurants etc or you can walk to the beach in about 10 minutes.
Finally, Kadek comes everyday with a big smile to clean and bless the villa for you!

Yes, we would love to stay at Papaya Villa again, thankyou Bill & Maureen for showing us just how good a villa can be : - ))))))))))

“We'll be back!”

From the moment we arrived, we knew we picked a winner with this one.

Bill and Maureen met us on arrival, took us on a tour through the villa and explained everything we needed to know. We had a beer from the stocked fridge and set to relaxing by the gorgeous pool, soaking up the serenity of both the villa and the welcomed silence from the small street on which the villa resides. I'm not much of an accommodation dweller on holidays but Papaya Villa served as one of the few places I’ve ever stayed where staying ‘home’ was a choice option.

There was ample space for our group of 5, allowing us privacy when needed but also common areas for us to relax and unwind together after a hard day of swimming in the pristine pool or shopping and eating along Jalan Danau Tamblingan, which is only a couple of hundred metres from the villa. The villa is has everything one needs on a holiday including a fully equipped kitchen and a 4 burner bbq for those not inclined to indulge in the local culinary arts, air-conditioned bedrooms, ceiling fans for the extra warm nights, serene en-suite bathrooms, televisions with dvd players, a safe, sunbeds, wifi, stereo, books…

Most advantageous however was the location. Set in a quiet laneway just off the main street, the villa allowed an extremely easy walk to many of the wonderful restaurants, bars and cafes, not to mention the beach and Hardy’s supermarket. On the first day, we walked no further than a couple of hundred meters and were able to have lunch, do a shop at the supermarket, drop off some laundry, hire a bike and get a massage.

The photos don’t do Papaya Villa any justice in regards to its splendour nor do they include the wonderful morning smile of Kadek who brought the villa back its original glory after we left a grand mess every day.

The next time we come back to Sanur, I dare not think about staying anywhere else.

Thanks Bill and Maureen.

“Beautiful villa”

The villa is beautiful as shown in the pictures. There are 3 large bedroom with private bathrooms, a nice swimming pool, barbecue grill, a big kitchen.... everything is modern and brand new. The location is superb, in a quiet area in the center of Sanur with easy access to all the shops + restaurants and also the beach. The owners are extremely nice and helpful. Unfortunately I only spent 2 days there as I was on a trip through Indonesia and did not have the time to stay longer. Very reasonable price considering the quality.

“Lovely Villa”

This is a lovely clean modern villa. Outdoor style kitchen and eating area undercover. Sep toilet and laundry area outside. 3 beds, 3 baths & living area inside, 2 storey with balcony. Nice oblong tiled pool, half shallow for kids, other half deeper, but not over head. The UK/Aussie owners greeted us and also saw us off, they showed us around and they also put in the fridge a few items like milk, butter etc, which was a nice touch. A maid comes daily to make beds, wash up etc. The owners are extremely nice people who live just around the corner who were there in minutes when we needed the toilet unblocking. They also recommended restuarants and things to do in the area. There was a small library of books and outdoor sound system which made for a relaxing time around the pool. The king size bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in - ever. Bedding all good quality. Reliable wifi. We saw a brand new cot & mattress still in its wrapping. The front gate locks securely, also all the doors to the villa, we left the outside and pool lights on all night as extra security. The villa was in a good location, either side in both directions a few metres were tiny shops selling drinks/icecreams which we allowed our kids to go to freely, also a laundry, same day service $2 per kilo, laundry also hired out bikes $2.50 a day. We hired them for a day to ride the beach path along Sanur beach. Just around the corner was OMG massage/spa. A little bit further was Hardys supermarket which was great, food downstairs, clothes/souviners upstairs. The villa is situated behind Oasis Lagoon hotel, which is on the main rd, on the other side of the road is more hotels that back on to the beach, so only a few minutes walk to the beach. We ate at Massimos and Arena and enjoyed both, also ate at Costa Rica, which was not great. This villa was a nice ending to a busy holiday in Seminyak, nice to come to Villa Papaya and relax for a few days before going home. The owners made it a nice experience, they are open to feedback and in fact texted us the night we got home saying that they had already installed a couple of suggestions we had made that morning to them. I would recommend this villa.
