Reviewed 24 December 2013

Stayed here twice before getting the ferry to lembongan. I have alwAys found the staff helpful the rooms are fine for one night. It not overly cheap for what you get though. That said would probably go back as I know I will get a good night's sleep and it close to the ferry.

Positioning our resort as the preferred stop over on their holiday and surfing excursions.

Stayed with my husband and brother for three enjoyable weeks. Contacted hotel prior to departure to ask for ground floor room and promptly received reply that one would be reserved for us. On arrival we were shown to a lovely garden room and my brother to an adjacent one. Although not very big it contained everything we needed, fridge, TV, tea and coffee provisions and two very comfortable twin beds. We had trouble with the smoke alarm one night and it was promptly dealt with next morning. Another night the AC wasn't working, although after midnight two members of staff arrived within minutes after a call to reception. Unable to fix it until morning they immediately offered us another room to sleep in but at my request they provided a large fan as I didn't want to move. These are just examples of the service we received. The staff were so friendly, every single one greeted you with a smile and greeting. We stayed half board and there was a good choice of menu. Restaurant was facing the beach but we enjoyed dinner outside on the beachfront by candlelight most nights. Plenty of sun beds and umbrellas on the beach. This was a public beach but we were never bothered by vendors and enjoyed watching the locals. Would love to return.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are quite private and are situated in beautiful gardens. Take extra coat hangers as sto...

Firstly, a warning - do not book this hotel if you require ultra modern hotel with large pool etc. This hotel has been around for a while! We had a room in the stunning gardens, which was small but adequate. We had a flat screen tv. with a good choice of satellite programmes, kettle, cups and small bar fridge. Bed changed every other day and fresh towels every day. Nice restaurant with outside tables spilling onto the beach pathway. Breakfast o.k. but no bacon to go with the freshly cooked eggs. Banana pancakes were good. Fresh fruit every day also cereal and yoghurt. Pool area was very pretty, but although not crowded in the low season would be far too small if the hotel was busy. The hotel is at the far end of Sanur, with a small market like shopping area adjacent. Also adjacent to Warung Sunrise with regular Caribbean music nights.
About 20 mins walk along the beach path to a good selection of Beach Restaurants. Lots of small boats leave from the beach in front of hotel, and by 4 p.m. the whole area was packed with locals swimming and eating food from the small market stalls and warungs. I loved this but many will not enjoy the litter and dog poo from the many local dogs who enjoy a swim. A quieter beach is available just a few hundred yards away. Staff was lovely, especially the happy gardeners. Wifi in several hot spots but not in rooms. Taxis can be booked from the Lobby.

Room Tip: I think most people would prefer rooms in the grounds, which are slightly dearer then in main hotel...

We stayed at the Diwangkara for 3 nights (Oct 9 -12 2013}. It is very good value. We had a twin room on the ground floor and paid about $50 per night. It is set among beautiful gardens and also has villas. We had a look at one of the villas which had 3 separate bedrooms each with own bathroom and they all opened up onto a courtyard with your own pool. They are lovely. And I think around $100 per night per room....but there seems to be lots of room to bargain both online and in person. The best part of this place is that you are beachfront...so you leave your room and walk through the gardens straight onto the beach. It is at the Sanur beach end and therefore is a little away from the main part of Sanur. But there is a paved beachfront walkway right along (about 3km) or you can hire a bike. There is still plenty of souvenir shops at the Diwangkara end and a great bar on he beach named Sunset Bar and Grill. They have awesome juices, food and live reggae 3 or 4 nights a week. We loved this place and next time I will book a villa if there are more than 2 of us. Staff were extremely attentive.

I recently stayed at this resort after spending most of my time in Ubud. I had chosen Sanur because it was a part of Bali I'd never seen and close to the airport - I had booked a deluxe double online and really had no idea of what to expect, after staying at 5 and 4 star resorts in Ubud. On check in they upgraded me to a "plunge pool" room and I was able to get a late check out too. Clean, comfortable and very private room - one of the best beds I've ever slept in. Down side was the food - not great - I headed up the path along the beach and found great Japanese restaurants and good bars with great food and cheaper drink prices. Sanur seemed to have a lot of British and Europeans staying - great place to stay if you are heading across to Lombok or Gilli Islands, as the boats leave right out the front!!

Room Tip: Go the plunge pool rooms - the main swimming pool is not that flash and the beach is average.

This is our second visit to Diwangkara, the first being on our honey moon 31 years ago !
We have always thought we would like to go back and checked it out in 2008 when we were in Bali and thought it still looked lovely. That holiday we stayed in the Sanur Beach hotel right up the other end of Sanur , it was very nice but lacked the charm of the smaller , intimate Diwnagkara.
I love the fact that you can walk out of the hotel right onto the beach, there is a great walking track all the way along for kilometres and a great way to see the sights of Sanur, stopping along the way at one of the many beach front cafes or multitude of little shops. You are spoilt for choice.
Some people call Sanur ....Snore.... As its not as fast paced as Kuta or Seminyak but I think it's refreshing, relaxing and fun.
Also you can catch any number of fast boats over to Lembongan or Lombok from in front of Diwangkara...so very handy .
Back to Diwangkara.......it's a pretty little hotel nested in lovely lush gardens with ponds and fish. Very quiet and relaxing, we didn't feel crowded at breakfast which by the way is plentiful and delicious. You can choose to have eggs done any number of ways or a yummy banana pancake made fresh on the spot, or just graze from the many fresh fruits, pastries, breads, cereals or hot dishes available....that change each day.....just to clear up other reviews about breakfast.
Our room was spacious and clean. With our own little balcony and pond.
My only criticism would be that the bathroom is in need of a revamp, it's looking a bit tired but still clean and serviceable.
Staff were all friendly and attentive .
I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, but if you are looking for a more modern place with four pools and swim up bar.......try Movenpick in Karon beach Thailand ! But that's a whole other review !

Room Tip: I saw they do have private villas here as well and they looked amazing! Maybe next time!
