“Spacious but older accommodation”
Reviewed 20 June 2011

We found Swastika bungalows really good value for money. We booked a triple room for a family of 4, and were given a large room with a double and 2 singles. The room was dated and the toilet wasn't working great, but this wasn't a big deal given how much space we got for what we paid. The room was clean and each bungalow is relatively private (or at least there are so many bungalows it is not that likely you'll end-up with an immediate neighbour).

There were two pools and one more was being built when we were there. The buffet breakfast was OK. The location was convenient for beach access since it was nearly opposite one of the few roads that led to the beach.

This is a really nice resort but not on the beach for a buget traveller which would suit families on a buget as it has a large garden and two pools. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. Don't expect super comfort but a relaxing stay none the less. You also get a discount at its sister restaurant has really good food.

Me and my partner stayed at Swastika from 14-28 april 2011, the personell at the lobby is attend and knows its customers, our bungalow was in the back of the terrain and on 2nd floor, it was clean and kept clean.Very big bedroom/livingroom, bathroom was basic but worked well.Almost no insects and the personell kept these away with spray and anti-insect divise every evening. Airco could handle the heath,on my thermometer it was around 26 degrees celcius. We had a pleasant stay here, did not use the swimming pool.Swastika has easy access to main road in Sanur and 10 min walk to the beach. The wifi internet worked well.

friendly staff, fresh towels, linen and free bottled water every day. spa services were good. staff were lovely. breakfast basic. exhaust fan or window that opened in the bathroom would be good. only really issue was the inconsiderate smokers at breakfast. needs to be some non smoking areas. some were chain smoking with no regard for others eating. our air con was more than adequate, we had to turn it off at night.

I am an expat who has been living in Asia for the last 4 years and I have been to many homestays, hotels and resorts. Furthermore I work in the hotel-business.

I stayed in a connecting room with my parents in one room and myself in the second.

I expected more of Swastika Bungalows, the rooms are only O.K. They are very dark, not really cosy, and not particularly clean. Especially the bathrooms where not nice, walls are full of fungus and there are no windows in the bathrooms for ventilation. The rooms smelled mouldy and I had to buy incense to take care of the smell.

Air-con was not good, struggling to keep the rooms cold, one remote did not work.

Swimming-pool was nice, a little old, but clean, unfortunately the pool-bar was not in operation.

Breakfast was boring and restaurant seemed a little old and not particularly clean.

I would not recommend this hotel to friends, the website is nice but the hotel is not.
There is better places around.

We stayed here for a week and loved it, we found it private, relaxed and peaceful. The staff were awesome, and the grounds were perfect. At most times we were the only people in the pool and at breakfast there were only a few other guests.
Our room was quite basic, the bathroom was open air, and had barbed wire as a roof, (a little off-putting), our bed was rock soild, but for the money i dont know what else you would expect, We laughed it off, and enjoyed the location and resort facilities. If your a experianced traveler who doesnt mind less than perfection, then this is for you. It has a real bali feel, not to touristy, not to many aussie's, ( im aussie and god we can be loud and annoying) great local staff and a yummy simple breaky.
All in all great value for money, just dont expect 5 stars if your paying $50 a night! ha ha

The bathrooms were very dated and dirty and smelt. My partner found a cockroach in there one night. The rooms look tacky. The breakfast was horrible, stale bread, butter melted so it tasted like popcorn, not much choice. The service was bad, some of the staff were friendlyish others wanted to get rid of you as quick as possible. We saw another room and the bathroom was much nicer but still dated. It wasnt a good experience, the only plus was that the pool was beautiful as were the grounds but unless you plan to sleep on a sunlounger that doesnt really help. For what we paid we expected more especially as we have had better stays in Bali for less. Sanur is a good place however.
