Quiet 4 bedroom villa...we had our own maid which was hard to get use to...our villa was breath-taking...close to supermarket and shops..markets around the corner..cheap facials and massages on he corner. It was the best holiday for myself, hubby, adult children and partners. Staff very helpful as all indonesian people are..made our stay complete. Definitely return

All advertising seems to be only about private villas, not general villas. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us, no welcome of any kind, and no porters to help with luggage, we had to ask! We were given a letter from reception saying we cannot complain and it is illegal to do so...huh, and we were asked for credit card details in case we damage the room, this is the first time ever I have been asked to do this, so the greeting was absolutely negative, a sour taste already!!! A self contained villa with no cutlery or cooking utensils, the gas cooker wouldn't work, the fridge was frozen, so we defrosted it so we could use it and no instructions on how to use the safe, we rang reception 5 times in an hour to get what we needed to be self contained. The kettle took 25 minutes to boil, gas was faster, kettle replaced and also no coffee, tea, sugar salt and pepper was supplied. Drinking water in a large 20 - 25 litre dispenser sitting on a stand, dripping onto the floor where a towel was placed on the floor to absorb the water - 5 star huh? The breakfast bar was high and the cane seats were ok if you are 6 feet 6 inches tall. The only other seating in the dinette, was a single slide out bed that was to wide to use as a seat. The clothes wardrobe was in the bathroom and no extraction fan also. The bath towels were not white, but slightly grey and no tea towels for drying dishes.
Now we are all settled and organised, nice setting, and communal pool for 5 villas, fairly private and good locality to restaurants and shops as we dined out at all local eating establishments.
We never saw anyone dining at the villa restaurant as there are only 5 tables, no restaurant setting at all. So overall with a cost of $200.00 per night, disappointing, maybe private villas are nice, but our experience wasn't - very ordinary sorry!

Room Tip: They advertise private pool villa pictures, not single villa, very misleading ads

Villa staff were excellent! We stayed at A1 3 bedroom villa close to the restaurant. The food is lovely! Even though it says that you pay for the internet on Booking.com we got ours for free of charge. Thanks for that! So clean and tidy, perfect location. Close to shops (Hardy's, Pharmacy) Didn't bother going to the beach because the pool is amazing! We're definitely coming back to this villa!

Room Tip: Stay close to the reception/restaurant .

We stayed as a couple (mid-40's, no kids) in villa #B14 ("Villa Santaia"). Overall a great experience! The villa was nice and clean except for the occasional bug or two, but that's quite normal. Our villa type was the 2-bedroom with private pool.

The location in general is perfect. Very private, hardly any street noise and well kept grounds. The public street leading up to the entrance coming from the main road however is littered with garbage. Gives you a little scare when you arrive, but once inside the gate it's all ok.

The site Emerald Villas has (according to the management) about 50 villas and all are different in detail. So *do not* expect to get the exact same thing as you see in the pictures on their (or any) website! Be aware and make specific agreements on this if you feel the need to!

Inside the villa you have two very nice spacious bedrooms with each their own bathroom, shower inside and outside all separated by a big midsection. With some villas this midsection is open. Ours was also open, yet able to be sealed of by sliding doors and thus can be cooled if needed. I would opt for this option again!

The midsection has a huge kitchen area and nice dining table. WiFi was free and fast.
Had all appliances you could need (microwave, water boiler, fridge, stove etc.)

The garden not huge, but very acceptable, well kept and fully in Balinese style. Don't expect large patches of grass to lie down in. The pool was clean and big compared to other villas that advertise pools but actually are hot tubs. Our villa had a really nice big pool with a big enough surrounding area for seats and beds.

The villa-staff is very polite and nice. Our housekeeper (Mrs. Ketut) was very friendly and helpful. Same goes for the poolman and the gardener. Always willing to help and assist.

Now the lesser bit:
What was disappointing was the front-desk staff. They are not so 'guest friendly' as you would expect. On arrival (21:00hrs) the manager-on-duty was not aware we arrived and gave us scare #2: "not sure if we have a villa available..". Which was weird, as we were picked up at the apt by the travel agent so our booking seemed to have made it to the island. He had to scramble, make calls, check schedules and ran off to find us an alternative, which eventually ended well, but that's not how you would like to start a holiday. The villa (and staff) were obvious not prepared for our arrival.

Also during our stay we had several inquiries, rental questions and such and were not helped the way you would expect. The front-desk staff is just there to manage the grounds, not to proactively help their visitors. They see that as a task of your travel-agent.

On the evening prior to our departure we were informed we had to leave at noon the next day. To us that was unacceptable as we rented the villa for the whole last day. Arguments were had where we expected some courtesy in relation to the ill-prepared arrival. No courtesy was given and they insisted we vacated at noon. Eventually we could prolong our stay for another half-day only after paying $100,-. As we did not want to wander the streets with packed suitcases (our flight was scheduled for 7hrs later) we reluctant accepted under protest.

During our stay we heard similar stories from other guest who also had bad experiences with the front-desk. Especially their contradictory statements.

So in short: great villas, great location, nice villa-staff, but the front-desk has to learn a lesson or two in guest courtesy. Keep an eye out and be very, very, very specific with them on agreements to prevent disappointment!

Room Tip: We had the 2-bedroom villa with private pool #B14. You can't go wrong with that one. If you choo...

A bit of the beaten track so taxis had to be used. We stayed in number 18. Asked for Queen A and while pool looked right comparing to pics rest wasn't. Was sceptical about open living area but it was really nice. No mozzies bothering us. Overhead fan enough to keep us cool. Loved pool. Huge bathrooms. Bath, inside and outdoor shower. Bed little hard but comfortable enough. Maid came and did her thing in morning but otherwise she was very unobtrusive which I liked.

Room Tip: 18 won't disappoint

Stayed here in early September. We had a two bedroom villa and loved every minute of our stay! The villa was very nice and clean. Staff were always smiling, friendly and helpful. Kadek our maid was just lovely. I really liked the location, I didn't feel it was too far away- plenty of restaurants near by and taxis everywhere. A great place to go with a group of friends or even a family looking at having their own space which you wouldn't get at a hotel. Would definitely recommend and can't wait till our next stay.
