We loved our 8 night stay at Flashbacks. Our first two nights were in the Suite room #7. Great space with open dining, living and kitchenette areas and air conditioned bedroom / en -suite space. Bed is very comfortable and room had lovely blinds that kept the morning light out allowing us to have a little sleep in and relax.

When we returned to Sanur we stayed at Flashbacks for another 6 nights in Bungalow room #2. Such a nice little private space for us to sit back and relax. The semi outdoor bathrooms in the Bungalows are lovely and the air conditioned bedrooms with little sitting area consisting of small table and a couple of well cushioned chairs, bar fridge and tv.

Both bed were very comfortable and pillows were also good and we both slept very well. Both rooms also had an in room safe which we set our own personalised pin to on arrival, this gave us piece of mind that our travel documents and extra cash were always secure.

The breakfast that is included with accommodation cost we felt was generous it consisted of a bowl of mixed fruit or a fresh fruit juice, ciabatta toast with choice of condiments (jam, marmalade, honey, peanut butter, vegemite, avocado, sliced tomato) and a pot of coffee or tea (containing approx 2 cups per pot). On a couple of occasions we didn't have the pot of coffee or tea and opted for cappuccino were we charged a special rate for the cappuccino which was lovely of them to do.

The grounds were very well maintained and there was additional areas for customers to sit and relax around the grounds and the salt water pool was very inviting. Staff that serviced the accommodation were so lovely and it was great to see their smiling faces daily. Rooms were cleaned daily, in the afternoon if we were out the thoughtful staff would close our windows and turn on the air-conditioner allowing the room to be cool on our return. In the evenings when we were out the staff would turn the outside light and the bedside table lamps on so that we could see what we were doing when we returned for the night. This extra service would not be provided in a resort where you pay alot of money so was a pleasant surprise given the value of the accommodation types at Flashbacks.

Flashbacks is in the perfect location set back from the main street enough that the traffic isn't a disturbance, lots of restaurants and bars out the front (The Porch Cafe, highly recommended), next door and within short walking distance additional restaurants along the beach are approx 10min walk away, numerous spa's for all your pampering needs. As well as close proximity to 24/7 Cocomart, Chemist, trustworthy money exchange and supermarket Hardy's. Also as Flashbacks is set back off main street of Sanur (Jl Danau Tamblingan) there is a variety of shopping options as well as the Sinduh beach markets within 10 min walk.

We will definitely return to Flashbacks and will be taking the children there as it is a very safe, welcoming and friendly environment. Thanks everyone for making our stay perfect!!

My daughter and I stayed at Flashbacks for our last two nights in Bali. It really is a lovely little oasis. The room was so cool and comfortable with lots of space, a little writing desk. The lovely dark carved wood trims, mustard stucco walls, softly faded ikat bed coverings and blinds gave it a really welcoming homely but exotic atmosphere. The bathroom was the most beautiful one we had, Balinese with slate tiles and walls - just like all the pictures on Tripadvisor. The little pool was ideal for a cool off (and I needed it!) after a day of wandering around. Mustn't forget the staff - absolutely wonderful. We came home on our first day, to find the AC and a welcoming lamp had been switched on, a mosquito coil was lit in the bathroom and our pillows had been plumped. Staff were also very helpful organising reasonably priced transport.
The Porch Cafe out the front was a nice spot to eat and breakfast was good - especially the pancakes, but we paid extra for them. The continental breakfast was okay, but not the best we had during our 2 week trip, and the cafe was a little expensive....but I guess that's Sanur.
Our room was #1 with twin beds which was great. The only fault was that it was very noisy at night! The music from some bar nearby came straight into our room as if we were actually there. I had to use earplugs to sleep - luckily I always pack a few pairs for just this reason. The other guests didn't seem to have a problem, so maybe it was just Bungalow #1.
All in all a fabulous place to stay with a really warm, welcoming and exotic feel. I would stay again, but unfortunately not in that room.

Room Tip: If you like to sleep before midnight, don't stay in Bungalow #1. Also, very good reliable and reasonably priced tranport service can be organised through the office here.

Being a short drive from the airport Sanur is an ideal place to start or end a holiday in Bali. It's easy to find your way around, has a lovely beach and a few things to do. Get your SIM card, do a little shopping and get used to life here. Flashbacks is a medium priced guest house with only a few rooms available but it is a perfect place. We stayed in the Deluxe cabin by the small dipping pool and it was very luxurious. Lovely bed, lovely bathroom, plenty of clean white towels and toiletries, ac, TV, fridge and kettle with coffee and tea to make when you want. The staff were very helpful and courteous. We loved it there. The only small thing I would like to mention is the breakfast. It is a continental breakfast and for the money we paid I think a couple of eggs could be included. We are staying in Ubud now and the price is less than half but our breakfast is much better..sorry. Overall a wonderful place to start and end a holiday in Bali.

We booked our accomodation at Flashbacks having read a recommendation in The Lonely Planet and we were not disappointed! The small guest house site is a beautiful tranquil spot just off the busy street that runs through Sanur. Lots of lush green plants and trees surround a small pool and there are several places in the shade to relax and read. I loved the little dishes of Frangipan flowers that were arranged on the pool side.
We had bungalows 1 and 2 and also room 9 for nine nights with our 'grown up' family. All were clean and very attractive, lovely bathrooms lots of local features.
The service that we received from the Flashbacks staff was exemplary especially from Guday who was prepared to make endless phone calls on our behalf to chase our luggage which had been mislaid at Singapore airport.
Breakfast is taken at The Porch Cafe which is linked to Flashbacks and consists of a cafetiere of coffee, fruit juice or a plate of fresh fruits, toast and jam.
If you need a taxi service/driver during your stay, ask the guest house staff to call Made.He took us out and about on several occasions and was super helpful and so courteous.

Room Tip: Bungalows 1 and 2 were great. Room 9 has lots of character but be prepared to share a loo. There is a mosquito net over the bed but no air con.

Just spent 5 nights in the lovely and spacious suite (room #7) at Flashbacks. Good value, quiet and central to everything. Breakfast good and included in price of room. Served at the Porch Cafe on same premises but had to wait a very long time to be served in turn with other customers who walk in off the street. Not ideal really to be kept waiting over 30 minutes to be served fruit and bread while other customers not staying at the place are being served before us. It just seems wrong. The more mature of the female workers in the cafe was surly on a daily basis and didn't offer any apology when we showed her the fork we were given was dirty with someone else's yoghurt or similar still on it. She just took it and brought another one. I also noticed other customers showing exasperation at the speed of the service. Tip - get to breakfast around 7am to avoid this kind of situation.

What disappointed us most was the way one of the staff opened our room door with a key without knocking one afternoon and looked in. He wanted to clean the room. Instead of making a polite retreat he insisted on apologising and making excuses while still looking into the room. Not the kind of behaviour we would expect even in the most basic of accommodations. At least we were dressed at the time!
