“Disappointing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

We have stayed at this resort many times and this last visit was marred by inappropriate boom boom music emanating from the bar area. This started before 11 am and made relaxation impossible on the beach or in the wonderful Japanese organic restaurant right next to the bar.
Staff were excellent, the gardens beautifully maintained, room very nice.
Don't think we'll stay here again.

Room Tip: Bungalows are quieter

We are writing this while sat in the lobby waiting for our transfer to the airport.

Where to start?

First stay (2night)
When we first landed, Segara was our first hotel we were to stop in. We arrived 2hrs before we were allowed to check in - sitting in 30degree heat in jeans was not good, especially after a 15hr flight- although this wasnt the hotels fault.
Anyway, the room was adequate, nothing amazing- basic and functional but was one of their cheaper rooms. It had a lovely balcony with the jacuzzi bar and a pool not too far away.

The second visit was to mark the end of an adventure (4nights)
We were advised on check in that we had been upgraded - which came as a shock as we had actually paid for the best room. Anyway, we were shown round to the bungalows and advised that we had the "club" package this time round. The pool was literally just outside our room and the room itself spacious and alot more modern that our stay prior. The breakfast in the club is much more relaxed wih better options and excellent service.

All in all we had a brilliant stay. The food was great but pricey (if your on a budget, try toot-sie next door). The service at the evening meal is very slow. The pools are cleaned regular, although on certain pools it can be quite a fight for a sunbed! The staff are extremely friendly. It isnt a noisy hotel either - if there are children by the pool making a noise, there are plenty other quieter pools to choose from.

Great stay, highly recommended.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for! Better rooms are worth the money.

Segara Village Hotel is a good hotel with friendly personel. The swimming pools are excellent and the restaurant is good. There are several shop and good restaurants in the neigbourhood. Especially the daily High Tea is very much appreciated by us and other guests.

The resort is located right on the beach and the photos of the resort are very acurate. There is lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Although it seems to be a large resort it doesn't feel like it because the resort is spread out and has beautiful gardens and little areas where you can just sit etc. The pools are fantastic and you can sit in the pool and look out over the ocean- so relaxing!!! We were upgraded to the Segara Village 3 which was so incredible and the room was modern, clean and had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in with compfy pillows, large bathroom. Our rooms were single storey with a day bed out the front to relax on. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. When we come back to Bali we will stay here again. Sanur beach area is quiet and if you are looking more for a relaxing holiday instead of busy Kuta this is the place to be. Kuta is only a short drive away.

Unfortunately we only spent one night here at the end of our trip but what a beautiful, perfectly run large resort. Owned by Balinese, this resort has it all! Amazing staff and service, outstanding accomodation and the most beautiful grounds. Would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to going back! Right on the beach at Sanur and central to Kuta, Seminyak and Denpassar. We were upgraded on arrival which was a bonus although all the accomodation looked superb. Food and beverages were very reasonably priced and many shops nearby. The infinity pool was beautiful with a kids pool on the side and sun lounges in shallow water around the edge. Absolutely stunning!

The resort is beautiful, don't be put off by the journey from the airport. As soon as you arrive at the front gates it's like arriving at paradise. We were on a night flight so the gardens were beautifully and delicately lit up on arrival, very relaxed atmosphere all through the day and night with the beach and restaurants a stones throw away. Gorgeous reasonably priced spa or beach massages right next to hotel. The perfect couples holiday :)

We are a family of 4 (2 adults & 16 & 14 yr old) and loved our stay at the Segara. The resort is just gorgeous. Everything you would wish for for a relaxing stay. The resort has a traditional Bali feel amongst feature tress, coconut palms and sculptors. It feels secluded and is quiet, but is in walking distance to restaurants and fabulous markets, and the Sanur township. An $8 taxi ride to Kuta if you want excitement. Perfectly located for families, and couples. The staff at the Segara were very friendly and helpful, always asking if we were okay and 'did we need anything'. Also, a fabulous pool to be enjoyed by all, and a separate swim up cocktail bar. A stunning beach, with jet skiing and snorkeling is also at your door step. We would love to return to the Segara. Thank you for making our stay in Bali so memorable.!
