We stayed for a week and were pleasantly surprised. 5 Minute walk to the beach, plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity and lots of shopping nearby. Hotel grounds were lovely and quiet. Pool area beautiful with enough loungers and shade. Rooms quite large but bathroom fittings were a bit rusty. My husband fixed the toilet so that it didn't leak all the time! Breakfast was very tasty but the coffee was very strong and a surprise to someone who was expecting a 'western' coffee. Try the pancakes - yum! The eating area is adjacent to a Koi pond with some of the biggest fish I have ever seen. A small but stunning place with friendly staff! We will definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Rooms to the left after reception are quieter

Stayed here for 3 nights and was perfect for that amount of nights. It is in a really good location 5 minutes walk from beach and even closer to some beautiful restaurants and some good shops. The hotel itself was nice and great layout especially the pool area which had some beds and table and chairs. Staff were always friendly. The room was spacious with lots of room and the bathroom was good with hot water. The only couple of things I would have to say would be I can see why other people who have reviewed this hotel have said that the rooms are quite dark with not much natural light which is true although I don't spend much time in my hotel whilst on holidays so that didn't bother me much. And the breakfast was very average which is a shame because where you eat breakfast is nice, peaceful and overlooking a pond with heaps of Coy fish that you can feed which is quite fun. There is also a supermarket next door and a money changer which came in really handy.

Room Tip: We had a room at the far end of the hotel which we loved as it was private and peaceful but it was f...

I have been staying at Sukun for 5 years. If you are looking for a genuine Balinese experience then Sukun is the spot.

The staff will be anticipating your arrival so there are no surprises during check in. Your bags will be carried away to your room while you sip your refreshing welcome drink. Walking to your room you will notice the lushious traditional Balinese style landscaping and foliage. In the center if the property is a crystal clear swimming pool. The rooms are inside Balinese home-style buildings with covered patio's where you can lounge away mid day hiding from the sun. Most rooms have beautiful hand painted ceilings. Some of the rooms have been recently updated so be sure to ask at check in. All rooms are kept very clean daily.

A visit to Sukun's restaurant is a must. Dine or snack on a variety of delicious home cooked Balinese and Indonesian dishes. Western food is also available. Breakfast is included in your stay and is a must. Banana pancakes, Indonesian fried rice or noodles and try the mixed juice. Also a strong dose of Balinese coffee!

The grounds are tranquil and relaxing but the true secret of this place is the staff. True, honest 5 STAR service. They strive to make your stay enjoyable. They can help to book tours, restaurants, airport transfer or anything else you may desire.

The location is extremely convenient on a main Sanur Street. The hotel is set back from the street so very quiet. Sanur Beach is a lovely, short 5 minute walk. Actually I now prefer to stay 'off beach' as I find it to be a quieter more private retreat at the end of the day. Sukun's grounds and pool are a very good substitute for those who prefer beach front hotels. Sukun is also conveniently located very close to the Bypass road that connects to all parts of Bali. The surrounding area has many services, shops, bars and places to eat but is quiet, safe and all within walking distance.

If you are a Scuba Diver Sanur is the dive shop center of Bali. The dive boats all leave from Sanur Beach.

If you are a Surfer the Hyatt Reef Surf Point is a 5 minute walk away.

If you are a Kite Boarder or Wind Surfer the wind in Sanur kicks up seasonaly.

In summary. Sukun is a conveniently located, tropical, relaxing, Balinese home away from home with a great backyard and 5 STAR staff.

My wife and I recently travelled to Bali for our "honeymoon", along with 40 family members and friends! We booked out all 22 rooms of Sukun Bali Cottages for 4 or 5 days. Everything was perfect for us. We had a large common area around the swimming pool for everyone to socialise in, and for the kids to swim and have fun. Those who wanted more time alone could hang-out in their own cottages or on their patios, and the restaurant also provided an alternative social area for us. The staff looked after us all beautifully, making restaurant bookings and helping with transportation and other activities, including fishing trips. The cottages are nice and close to plenty of conveniences, without the noise associated with being surrounded by crowds. All 42 of us were very happy with our stay. Thank you Sukun Bali!!!

Stayed 2 nights in Aug. Our group of 6 had 3 different rooms.
The first night was in Room 208 which is somewhat run-down and has not gone through any refurbishment. This room is furthest from the pool area. Would avoid this room if possible.
We were switched to Room 102 which is a Superior room and comes with 2 "outdoor" shower areas. There is a bath tub which was useful to soak our diving equipment and 2 rain shower. The hotwater in this room worked very well. Bed was firm and comfortable and were given extra pillows.
As earlier reviews suggested, the bathrooms & bath tub needed more attention. During our stay, the wifi did not work in the rooms but there is connection near the receptoin area.
The breakfast provided was a choice of American eggs/bacon or local mee/nasi goreng which tasted fine. The garden and pool area is relaxing and you dont hear the traffic from the main road, Danau Poso. I would choose this over Sindhu Mertha Guesthouse nearby which cost more and not as well managed.
There is a clinic across the road (close on Sunday) and plenty of shops in proximity.
Service staff were all very friendly and the resort is very accommodating to our request for late check out until 6pm.

Room Tip: avoid room 208
