“Private lovely villa in Ubud”
Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed 2 nights in the Bamboo villa. The villa itself was spacious & lovely facing a small cliff where a stream runs through. The villa itself is surrounded by trees. The villa itself comes with a huge toilet & shower room. There is a living hall next to our bed as well. Breakfast was adequate. The service & friendliness of the staff were top notch. On the down side. It is situated not as close to Ubud centre as claimed by some previous comments on the TA forum. You can easily rent a bike which can make traveling to Ubud centre & other areas more convenient. The Gelato bar serve wonderful Gelato. It is also near some of the famous dining areas like Naughty Nuri's, Mosaic etc .

Room Tip: All villas are different & has it's own uniqueness.

Relaxation and rest was what we came to Gaya for and we had a fantastic stay. Very private and tastefully furnished.

Just what they state in their web: Bali meets Italy. Art meets food. Handcraft meets quality. Great-designed villas with attention to the very details. Each villa makes its own statement in an elegant fusion of contemporary line and traditional aesthetic, referencing elements of Chinese, Italian and Balinese decor.Originated from a group of fine ceramic makers.
They make superb gelatos and biscuits as well. Last but not least, great coffee too.
Highly recommended for those who love serenity, as there are only a handful of villas on the banks of a river between the gallery and a jungle gorge.

Thank you Gaya for making our Christmas a superb and memorable one. From the moment we touched down at the airport things cold not have gone more smoothly, our driver was waiting there for us. Everything at the Gaya fusion is perfect, from the villa,(we stayed in Villa Bambu) food, restaurant and most importantly the friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and will definitely be back for more Gaya and Balinese warmth and culture. Thank you.

We made a reservation in the Batu Villa for 3 nights in November, 2011 to celebrate my Birthday. What a treat we had given ourselves. The Booking process was very easy via email, and the prices obtained, by dealing direct were fantastic. Replies to our emails were prompt and very helpful. Batu Villa was beautiful. Very large, and the bathroom, superb. An added advantage was the large outside thatched communal area, and swimming pool just outside our front door. It is shared by 2 Villas only, and found this OK.Breakfast was great and at Fusion Restaurant, which forms part of the Gaya complex. Fusion is above the reception area for the complex and the art gallery. There is also a ice cream cookie shop there too. The grounds to the villas are beautiful. Very well maintained, and a peaceful retreat.Transport into Ubud shopping area can be arranged very easily. One trip in and out free, and then a small fee after that. Would highly recommend Gaya Villas to stay. We have been to Bali 6 times, and consider this place to be one of our best choices .Thanks Gaya

Stayed in Papyrus Villa and it was absolutely lovely! Very clean, great views and rooms.

Breakfast is served at the Gaya restaurant and is freshly made.

Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Pool, although communal has a lovely view and we never had to share it with anyone (there are probably only 3 or 4 villas in the complex)

Only downside is that it is quite isolated and requires a 15 minute drive to get into the town centre of Ubud. There are free shuttle buses provided every hour from 10-4 however if you're staying out late you will have to catch a cab which costs around 50000IDR

We booked for 2 nights at Gaya and our 2 last nights at another place. Which I found great to be able to evaluate, compare what's on offer. It is true that Ubud has a diversity of places to stay for every budget.
So i found the value for money at Gaya was great.
My initial contact with reservation through e-mail was very efficient: quick response, and always accomodating. So we were picked up by their driver at the airport, who was on time and who seemed to be a very gentle character and good driver.
The room we booked ( which was the last one available) the 'Air Room':
Pros:
- Cheapest room
- Lots of privacy, as you are a bit further than the main house
- Beautiful views of the vegetation
- Very spacious room ( and i think it's the smallest??)
Cons:
- Mouldy smell : and that is very unfortunate. But i think it is due to its construction: there is beautiful little pond that goes all around the room and the roof is covered by grass, which is great, but which must affect the dampness in the room. Once the AC on the smell tends to dissipate.
- No little outside terrace, as you are on a slope.
Other than the smell in the room, I thought it was a really nice property, well maintained, quite quirky, contemporary and unusual for Ubud: Huge Art gallery, beautiful Art works and ceramic on displays.
Staff was really nice and helpful.
Restaurant was nice enough, but only had dinner once.
The Spa: Very small, but what a view! Extroardinary little corner of paradise.
We had one night babysitting and could not have asked for more, they were great.
All in all it was a good experience.
Shuttle bus service was great and would pick you up wherever you might be in town.
