My wife and I stayed at Bambu Indah for 3 nights, we were traveling Bali celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and our stay here was definitely the highlight of our trip. Words can't not describe Bambu Indah, this is such an incredible place, a hidden treasure.
Everything is designed with perfection, from the beautiful open air Bamboo structure that houses the reception area, Spa & the restaurant, to the unique collection of javanese style cottages disperse in the amazing grounds with the most stunning views over the greenest rice fields, is an overload to the senses! The sunset over the rice fields that you can enjoy every day is not to be missed. The hotel is the right combination of rustic & laid back elegance.

We stayed at the Jawa Lama house, it had a "Old Java" charm, every detail in the house was thought out and beautiful. We loved the wonderful outside bathroom & shower and the flower's petal masterpiece that they made for our celebration. We slept surrounded by nature and the sounds of the tropical forest. Our house had a great wrap around porch with comfy lounging chairs/beds and great views, that made just simply relaxing there the best of plans!

The staff is very attentive and friendly, they truly made us feel at home. The restaurant is fantastic, menu for lunch an dinner is short but changes daily and had always wonderful choices of local delicious organic dishes, most vegetables collected from their own garden.

Bambu Indah is a destination and a place not to be missed!
Thank you very much!

What an amazing authentic place. We love the beautiful old Java houses. More than enough space, a wonderful veranda looking out over the valley.

The swimming pool was a real treat for us and our kids. The monkey swing a fantastic feature. Food was ok but not great. I would recommend to have dinner in Ubud which is a 10 minute taxi away (the hotel will arrange this for you).

The grounds are fantastic too. Can not imagine a better place to stay.

We went rafting with the kids (age 9 + 11) from the highest mountain in Bali. Was fantastic and not scary (my wife worried about this initially). Please not that if the hotel arranges this for you it is twice as expensive compared to what we paid in town (approx 500k).

Room Tip: We stayed in Jimbalawa house which was nice because it lies a bit away from the other houses. They p...

We really enjoyed our stay in Bambu Indah. The rooms are clean and each is unique. The hospitality of the staff made us feel at home. What we love about Bambu Indah is their consciousness about nature. With the open bathrooms, they make sure that the organic shampoo and shower gel are friendly to the soil. One of our favorite activities is swimming and then enjoy the lemon grass tea with honey (oh and plus the cake!), and seeing the staff harvesting vegetables in the morning. Breakfast is yummy (my fave is the scrambled tofu with chilly) and cappuccino is excellent. The view is breath taking and very refreshing. We'll definitely come back!

Extraordinary and well worth a visit... Just be aware, the rooms are quite close together and the natural water pool quite small so the "robinson crusoe" experience requires sharing with your fellow guests. The food is beautifully presented and very high quality but not the best balinese I've enjoyed....

Expensive for what is a "javanese hut" backpacker experience converted into comfort. But fun to try.

Room Tip: Study the website carefully to find the right room for you.

After spending two weeks island hopping all across Indonesia my traveling companion and I had looked forward to a night in Bali. Neither one of us were prepared for what we found at Bambu Indah! I had been to Bali a number of years ago and upon arrival it definitely seemed to have builtup substantially so I was glad to have made the choice to delve into the interior. We passed village after village specializing in stone carving or wood furniture. Bambu indah is about 10 minutes drive (airport side) from Ubud, considered the cultural heart of Bali. The entrance is discrete and tucked away on a side street off the main road and what we found was paradise on earth!

We had arrived early so our room was not yet ready so one of the ladies at the reception gave us a tour of the grounds. They were stunning! As I snapped pictures like crazy other guests were equally effusive saying they too were blown away at the beauty and uniqueness of the property. The organic gardens, the unique, creative structures many made from bamboo, the giant "baskets" that housed the reception and the bathroom. The towering bamboo structures were out of someone's vivid imagination. The grand bamboo staircase led up to the spa and private massage areas, the spacious and intriguing kitchen and restaurant, the black bamboo yoga building of Sumatran traditional architecture, the natural pool spanned the premisess and then you look out and see the terraced rice fields below. The sound of rushing water is all around from the innovative irrigation systems typically used in the rice fields but also from a rushing river or creek down below. When we arrived tiny birds--- palm swifts if I have my birds right--flitted about and the air was perfumed. I don't know what flower but it was fragrant and maybe a touch of incense too?

Our room was the Jawa Lama house. On the far edge of the property. A wrap around porch with comfortable lounging furniture. There was a measure of privacy that some of the ones by poolside mightn't have. The view was more jungle than rice fields here and to the right still was a tree house or meditation room probably 40' between a coconut palm and another tree. Of course we had to climb up and check it out!

After a couple weeks of adventure travel both of us took advantage of the massage services and it was excellent and affordable! Food at lunch and dinner was also delicious. Prices were western for the meals but being from the west, we're used to that. I could easily have stayed for days and gotten into the flow and pace of Bali ---kind of ridiculous to only be in Bali a day but I left vowing to come back to this place. Some of the interactions with other guests (which seemed very friendly and I believe that the place lends itself to this) raved about the morning walk inthe rice fields and bragged about a green school visit as also highly worthwhile, not to mention the fun of going into Ubud for shopping, catching a traditional Balinese dance or music. If you're comfortable enough you can rent one of bambu indahs scooters or take a taxi to town for $6.50 which they just apply to your bill if you wish.

The rooms were comfortable and cool. There is a rustic-ness about them as they are reconstructed Javanese houses. So the floor boards creak as you walk, etc... With outdoor showers and bathrooms. So it's not the Ritz but it's not trying to be either. It's its own thing altogether. I would highly recommend it and would go back in a New York minute!

Room Tip: I like the Jawa Lama house as it was off to the side and afforded more privacy. The poolside rooms a...
