After we finished the Insight-clothing photo shoot at Bambu Indah, we spent the night there. i spent in the two story glass house (forgot the house name is). i found this place very interesting since i got there. the comfortable joglo's houses, the unique bathroom in every houses and even the pool was so cool. the staff is very helpful and responsive. the food also delicious. i slept very well that night, no mosquitos inside the room. over all i had a great night there. And i would like to give thanks to the lovely Diane who is very nice to us to let us have the photo shoot there. Can't wait to go back and have a weekend at Bambu Indah.

Room Tip: every room has their own personality.

Had an incredible stay at this unique and special resort. The staff were incredibly helpful and lovely. The food in the restaurant was simple but excellent and incredibly healthy. The views were spectacular. If you are looking for a true retreat where read thought it given to the environment and to sustainability this is it. Highly recommended.

I stayed here on a friend's recommendation and am so pleased to have found this wonderful hotel. On arrival, the main building was like nothing I'd seen before - a towering open sided structure made of bamboo that looked like it was about to take off. It is mirrored by a black bamboo yoga sala on the other side of their organic veggie patch. All the other buildings are antique Javanese wedding huts, broken down, shipped over and rebuilt. So all of them are different. All of them are beautiful. They overlook a gorge, with a river below and rice paddies beyond. Apparently you can walk down to the river. This isn't a luxury hotel of marble floors and gleaming mirrors, so don't come expecting that (your bathroom is open sided with just a few fluttering curtains to protect your modesty). And the refreshing pool is naturally cleaned so is dark to look at rather than turquoise. But I found this place quite charming and special. The food is delicious also served at a mixture of individual tables and one large communal table. The staff were all lovely. One thing to be aware of: it is a little out of Ubud, too far to walk, so you'll need to take taxis.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are excellent. Try to get one overlooking the pool/gorge area.

Very intriguing and unique property. Biggest complaint was how noisy the floors were! Couldn't walk quietly to the bathroom in the middle of the night without making a lot of noise. A few things could make the rooms more live-able like night stands with lights, small tables/racks for luggage, improved bathroom door closures. John is a great and involved hotelier. He spent Time chatting with us sharing ideas of what to do and where to shop. He led a group of us on a great morning hike through rice fields. I would have rated the service higher except we received some very outdated information on the location of a Legong dance performance and a bad restaurant recommendation. The food in the restaurant was great.
I would recommend this place to a friend.

Room Tip: We stayed in Kolom house; the house with the moat which was cool and very private, however we did no...

I stayed at the Bambu Indah at the end of a three week trip to Java and Bali. This was the perfect place to soak up the last bits of Indonesia before heading home. As a solo traveler, I felt perfectly comfortable, the staff is very responsive, and the grounds are as serene as one could wish for. The unique rooms are spare yet perfectly appointed. Bambu Indah is a place to sit back on your porch, take in the verdant view, hike into the gorge, and sleep to the hum of the jungle.
