“Dont leave Bali without staying at Bambu Indah”
Reviewed 15 January 2011

My first 2 nights in Bali I stayed at Bambu Indah and i wish i had booked my whole Holiday here. Here you have a Traditional Javanese cottage to yourself, set amongst a natural swimming pool and organic vegetable gardens. This place has a really warm, friendly feel to it, the staff can organise your tours, restaurants, what ever you need. Thanks Sri and Eva for your personal attention to my needs at Bambu Indah.

Bambu Indah is a unique experience (to call it a hotel is not doing it justice!) - the wooden houses are really amazing and the eco friendly approach impressive. But it is not for everyone. If you like nature but are not someone at ease with all the creepy crawlies that come with staying on a paddy field, this is not for you. Insects (mozzies, ants of all sizes, little bug things) are everywhere - so they will appear in the beds, bedding, bathroom, living on your toothbrush as I found! If you have allergies to bites, or have small kids/elderly people who do, I really would not recommend staying here. Lizards frogs are the friendly ones who eat the aforementioned insects, but you may not want to share a bedroom with them. It might also be a problem with someone less able, as the rickety bamboo bridge an narrow paths an be slippery and are not great for the less agile. Aside from that though, great food, lovely staff, idyllic setting and a definite 'wow' factor. As someone who visited me said, very 'swiss family robinson'.

Not much to add to the glowing reports, this place is too good to be true. We stayed at a lot of wonderful resorts in the world and this is one of the most memorable places. We took the Kuning and Kuno rooms, one of the kids one for my wife and I (don’t remember which one got which). As many said, this is like living in the rice paddles, luxury that bland so well in the nature. Every detail is thought through. Elisa and Eva are great. Highly recommended. Don’t skip the bicycle tour and the rafting the staff can arrange for you

Bambu Indah is definitely a heaven in Ubud! It has the most beautiful views and villas in Ubud, it's like you are not living in a hotel, but your own home, with paddy fields, and beautiful view of Ubud's paddy fields as well. I was worried tht there wont be any air con, but there is, and their bathroom is just awesome! it like high end technology and engineering exist in farms and rice fields!

It's hard for me to even express how awesome Bambu Indah is. Let me try to put it in context: sitting on our porch, having a homemade meal made with produce from the on-site farm, overlooking jungle and palm trees and rice paddies, I felt like a tourist on safari in another era. We stayed in the Padi House, and like the other huts, it is both rustic and luxurious, perfect for anyone who can appreciate an elevated cabin-style vibe, extraordinary vintage furniture pieces, and a Swiss Family Robinson sort of romance.

Ubud is a bustling, often overwhelmingly packed place, and I'm so glad we had Bambu Indah to escape to. It was so magical and wonderfully unfamiliar, and every detail (from the water pitcher to the shampoo) was perfectly chosen to enhance the experience. We relished every action, from opening the cute little window doors to making tea each evening. I am so glad we stayed here and not at some generic resort. It's hard for me to imagine anyone not liking this place, but I guess if you're not into the outdoors, the indoor/outdoor living might turn you off. But while I expected there to be tons of bugs and critters, that wasn't a problem at all. Plus, the hotel staff is so accommodating, any need you might have is pretty much solved right away, and I can't really imagine feeling stressed about anything at this place.

-Bambu Indah is a true Balinese treasure! Staying in our little Javanese house was FAR better than staying in a typical hotel – and much more authentic to Bali. The charm of Bambu Indah is that it strikes just the right balance of adventure and comfort. It is Robinson Crusoe meets Avatar with a splash of Gilligan’s Island – with hairdryers, great linens and A/C when you need it. My friend calls me a “Hotel Diva” – true – but I’m so glad I ventured away from the Four Seasons and let myself be transported by the feel and sounds of the beautiful green grounds of Bambu Indah. The food is delicious and can be delivered right to the villa, the products are elegant and eco-friendly, and the staff extremely accommodating. I’m going back!

Truely one of the best pleces I have stayed.

This eco lodge is out of the way of the usual tourist traps of Bali and offers a unique experience for those looking for something a bit different.

Set in the jungle area of Ubud you really feel close to nature and as a city girl, this was a great experience.

Don't let the eco bit fool you though - everything here is luxe, from the view to the accommodation, food and especially how you are treated by the staff.

I travelled to Bali and stayed here by myself and was treated like a princess!

For couple this would be a perfect romatic getaway.

Sublime - Bambu Indah please don't change tooo much - your pretty much perfect as you are!!
