Fab place. Old Don Antonio was a 'character'. The guides offer hilarious info and background on the Don. Not for the easily offended

“Lavish, baroque, a little gaudy, maybe even a little racey.”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

What a fun place to visit in Ubud. The Blanco is the monument/museum of Antonio Blanco. Paintings, sculpture, gardens, and even exotic birds. Go with an open mind and appreciate the opus of a Latino artist living in Ubud in the 1950s. I really enjoyed the studio room where the docent provides lemongrass tea for your comfort. The roof sculpture garden provides exceptional views of the Campuhan area of Ubud. Blanco's work runs the gamut from portraits to quasi-erotic paintings. He gently crosses the line into 'kinky'. I found it quite tongue-in-cheek.

“Very Eccentric”

Amazing insights into the mind of a complex man. Interesting paintings, not really my cuppa tea, but really cool to see into his world and the way he lived his life.

“Interesting”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Interesting collection of paintings by a single artist living in Ubud from the 1950s. Antonio Blanco married a local dancer who was also his model. Very large building housing about 200 paintings.

It is a bit of a riot. Highly eclectic paintings, almost all devoted to the female form, but with a touch of humour, and inventive frames. Certainly with going.
