My always wanted to go to Bali so this trip was special. What made it even more special was the very fine treatment the Sri Ratih Cottages' staff had for us. the villa was very nice and the atmosphere was top rate. You couldn't ask for a better setting parked in the jungle. This resort was at the end of Ubud, a short 1/2 hour from downtown.
Most of the time we were either by the pool or in our suite and it was pleasant. the reason we didn't give this a 5 were a few reasons. there was construction going on right outside our back window and they tended to start up around 7:30am, much to early for my taste. I know this might not have been the resort's fault but there could have been a concession on the timing for what we paid out.
The second item was the restaurant staff and their somewhat lax idea of service. Our free breakfasts were very nice and there were quite a few options to choose from. a complete 180 from the normal "Continental" breakfasts that are served in regular hotels. But, several times I had to go get my own napkin and the refills on coffee and tea were non existent. Asking seemed to put them off and after the second or third day, I just gave up.
The hotel did get us shuttle service from the Airport and we actually used him for our runs around the island. for an 8 hour use we paid the equivalent of about $60. Very nice guy that spoke good English.
We were fortunate enough to see a Cremation ceremony, something we were told is very lucky to see. the rice Terraces and the many temples around Ubud made the trip well worth the while.

If you like to walk, the Sri Ratih is on the edge of Ubud but is in close proximity to the town. 20 minutes will get you down the hill, across the small bridge and into the town. Of course there are taxis that go back and forth for about $3. if you do walk, make sure you go into the town central. a lot of shopping and many great laces to eat along the way. And, there is a Starbucks!

Our highlight of our hotel stay was the Spa. the gals that were offering the massage services actually knew what they were doing and provided a full hour of service, sometimes even a little more. My wife and I received a massage every day. It was paradise! If you need pampering from your wait staff and can't live without room service, this may not be the place for you. For the price, however, this is a very good stay, well worth the dollars you will send! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were in #10 which has it's own kitchenette, dinning table and chairs and a sitting area, all out on the deck! it was amazing to sit outside and watch the Geckos, smoke a cigar and have a Scotch.

We stayed in Sri Ratih for two nights. We were upgraded to a deluxe room which had the most beautiful big outdoor bathroom. We loved the welcome drink of iced lemongrass tea so much that we had about three each day. This hotel had the best breakfast menu we have seen anywhere in Bali. It is not buffet but there is something for everyone. We had Ristaffel here one night. The flavours were very good but I thought it was a bit westernized. I would have liked to see it presented on banana leaves. The pool was lovely and the service from all staff was friendly and professional. It was very peaceful with no road noise at all. If you want good wifi you really need to go into the reception area. Bridges Restaurant and Murnis are at the bottom of the hill on your right. Blanco Museum is right next door and worth a visit. Sari Organic Cafe is down the road left of Sri Ratih. Fantastic value for money. I loved the towel animals! Only one small niggle which has nothing to do with the hotel itself. I didn't like the steep hill down into town. I like walking but it is quite perilous with no footpath and lots of traffic. I would have preferred to be closer to the action. If you take a taxi you won't have a problem.

Our week at Sri Ratih was absolutely perfect. The hotel is located just outside the centre of Ubud, but only a 15 minute walk away. The rooms are tastefully designed and furnished and very large, as are the balconies which overlook beautifully manicured gardens. Service is very friendly and faultless. The restaurant is excellent, albeit we only had a few meals there since Ubud has so many great options. There are 12 breakfast menus ranging from standards such as American or Continental to Balinese, Vegetarian and Burritos.
While the centre of Ubud has become quite commercial since my previous stay there in the early 80s, it still retains a lot of charm. And within a five minute walk off the main road, you can find yourself in the middle of rice fields. Great walks to be had.

Room Tip: There is one block of rooms next to the restaurant that may be a little noisy in the mornings and evenings, but otherwise all the rooms are spread out through the gardens.

Came here with my family for a good getaway and from good it turned out GREAT! The whole place is surrounded by lush greens and the rooms are comfortably big. Even with an extra bed, there's still plenty of room for us to move around.

The bathroom is ginormous with an interesting layout. Me and my sister love the balcony the most because it's so spacious. The whole place is really clean.

We are very pleased with the overall service of the whole crew. Front office was good and cafe/restaurant quality is great. We always look forward to the breakfast.

Indeed a great place for a getaway. Either with family or partner. Recommended to all.
