If you are even considering this hotel, just book it. It's worth every penny. We've stayed at a lot of really nice hotels all over the world, and this is one of the best we've ever been to. (In fact, I can't believe that anyone could review this hotel as anything other than excellent.) In particular, the staff is SO genuinely pleasant. The food is top-notch. The views are fabulous, and the pools are amazing. Also, if you are actually the kind of person who likes to swim REAL laps (ie, you're a swimmer), the lap pool is unbeatable. 33 metres long and in perfect condition. A nice short walk into town (or shuttles provided by the hotel). Gorgeous decor, amazingly well designed layouts, both for the overall hotel as well as the individual rooms (why aren't ALL hotel rooms laid out this way?) Trust me -- these people have thought of EVERYTHING and will do anything to make sure you enjoy your stay. We will be very sad to leave this place and we will recommend it to everyone I know who is traveling to Ubud.

From start to finish, this was the best hotel imaginable! Every detail to make the stay fantastic has been thought of and attended to. The hotel is visually stunning - with unbelievable views and tasteful interior styling. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The pool area is beautiful. The restaurant food was delicious - really no need to eat outside of the hotel. The daily afternoon tea was a real treat. The service was the best we have ever experienced. Actually it was beyond 'service' - it was as though we were special guests in someones home! Of course the staff were all polite and attentive - but they went beyond this with their genuine warmth and hospitality. Honestly, this place is very special and we are so grateful to have experienced it.

We stayed here in Dec 2009 for 3 nights and were very sad to leave the property. Very nice luxurious accommodation, great service and friendly staff. The view from the lobby and every room is simply spectacular overlooking the rice terraces and river gorge below with forest and coconut trees in the background. Mr. Koman (the 3rd son of the Neka family) the owner bought the entire rice field and the river valley and forest view so the hotel has exclusivity in this area and privacy for their guests. The hotel also employs a real farmer family to take good care of the rice terraces down below. The long infinity pool is just gorgeous, when swimming in it looking up at the trees and lush vegetation all around, very relaxing. There's a big flat screen TV loaded with plenty of nice music for different mood and new releases movies (all free). At night the sounds of creatures serenading (frogs, crickets) is just unbelievable....very soothing and relaxing. The lanterns which are scattered around the rice field provides a romantic illumination at night, along with the 2 lanterns on your own private balcony. They serve free breakfast in the room (great selection including American but we always choose the Indonesian style with Nasi Goreng and Bubur Ayam) and evening snack & tea which you can have either in the room, at the restaurant, or by the pool side. There's a pizzeria by the pool side where they bake your pizza fresh in the brick oven. They also give you plenty of free water in the fridge (Aqua) and by the bedside during turndown. The room is always stocked with assortment of cookies and fresh fruit (except 1 day they forgot to stock the fruit, but we bought plenty of fruit already at the nearby Ubud market so not a problem at all). Shuttle service available on-demand, just call the guest service and tell them where you'd like to go and the driver will take you there and will pick you up afterward. King Bed is very comfortable, room is spacious with sitting area for watching TV or relaxing listening to nature sound or music. Bathroom is very spacious with nice tub and separate shower, all of this separated by a glass wall from the bedroom so you can enjoy the view while relaxing in the tub. The big balcony comes equipped with 2 nicely padded lounge chairs as well as a dining table with 2 chairs. There's a jogging trail that go around the property, taking you to its own wedding chapel and around the rice terrace, along side the creek below. The library is stocked with great selection of novels, magazines and other books about Bali which you can borrow. We look forward to coming back to this place soon. Definitely among the best to stay in Bali or in the world for that matter.

We where at komaneka at bisma on december and we had a great time!!!The hotel is located at a very nice place where you can see palmtrees ,bamboos, banana trees ,hear the sound of a river and of course ricefields allover!!!The place is very quiet even though it's only 5' drive from the center of Ubud. The best thing though is coming when you see the rooms which are very luxurious and spacious!!!They are new, clean, and all of them have a great view!!!The amenities where excellent, including LCD TV 32'',apple tv,free internet access, afternoon tea coming with traditional sweets, cleaning up the room twice a day, free transportation to ubud, excellent room service and the great manager of the hotel!!!The infinity pool is also amazing,is like you swimm inside the joungle!! I definetely recommend this hotel and I hope we'll visit it again...

We booked a pool suite which was nice but very close to other pool suites. The hotel was not busy so we had no one next door but I could see that could be a problem. The aircon was too small to cool the room properly and the TV was badly placed as the four poster bed made it difficult to view. The hotel had a just built feel and not a great atmosphere. We checked out after a few hours and went to the Armandari which was just divine.I would not recommend this hotel

Arrived at this resort after 3 nights at The Samaya, in Semanyak so had high expectations following that resort. Particularly as they were charging the same.

Location is beautiful, our pool villa was completely private overlooking a gorge. Very relaxing. Pool in the villa was wonderful, as was the room itself.

Felt a couple of things let the place down, the staff try so hard to make you feel welcome, yet they just don't seem quite that experienced. Lot's of small mistakes which on their own don't amount to much but together, starts to frustrate a touch.

Restaurant and standard of food probably the part that disappointed us the most. We decided to eat out after the first night. Even though breakfast was included we eat out after day 2. It just wasn't great.

Spa area was lovely, and the new wedding chapel they have built is beautiful (I'd just check out the catering in advance if you were going to have your wedding there).

Landscaping was stunning, they have clearly spent a lot of time on this and it shows.

We packed the disposable flip flops at the end of the trip, but it appears they check the room after you've gone to make sure you haven't taken anything. When we were checking out at reception they asked us to unpack them, which is a touch embarrassing given these are just disposable footwear and one hopes they don't re-use them for the next guests (maybe they do!?)

Would i recommend, look it's lovely, but I wouldn't stay there again i don't think. Certainly at the same price as the Samaya in Seminyak it just isn't in the same league.

We stayed at the Komaneka at Bisma during our honeymoon trip to Bali (first visit to Bali). The hotel's setting is simply stunning; the architecture blends beautifully into the hillside, and the rooms are absolutely perfect. The location is quiet and serene, but just a 10 minute walk or 5 minute shuttle ride to bustling downtown Ubud. The staff is very friendly and almost painfully earnest in their attempts to please. However, all in all they seemed to be relatively inexperienced (for the level of the resort) and communications in English was occasionally a challenge. There were also small breakdowns in service (e.g., they repeatedly took away the bathrobes with the used towels and didn't replace them; they locked me out on the terrace when they finished servicing the room, etc.). Also, prices for ancillary services (e.g., treatments at the amazing spa facility, costs of car/driver) are very, very high relative to services available elsewhere in Ubud. Note: we met guests from Komaneka Monkey Forest at the Bisma pool, so it appears you can stay at one resort and use the facilities at the other.
