After spending 3 nights at the Ubud Hanging Gardens and becoming tired of the mildew smell which permeated our room, the AC which didn't work so well, and the small creatures in our room at night keeping us awake, we decided to check out 1 day early and find a new hotel. After searching trip advisor I found Komaneka at Bisma. Although I was concerned that the hotel was right in the middle of town upon arrival any concern that i had disappeared. The grounds were lovely with views of rice paddies and it is a short walk to the main road where there are tons of restaurants and shopping. Komaneka also provides a free shuttle service to town, breakfast and free wi-fi- as most hotels offer here in Bali. Very few hotels in the United States offer free wi-fi so this is a nice change. The staff at Komaneka was very kind and helpful. We reserved a pool villa which was just stunning. The hotel is only a few years old so everything was new, large villa, beautiful bathrooms with double sinks, lots of storage space, separate bathtub, shower, outdoor shower, large outdoor living area, part of it covered - with a large bed and kitchenette and also 2 nice lounge chairs in the sun by the pool, the bed was extremely comfortable, the room was quiet and cool all during the night. Our view was of the trees and was just beautiful. In 2007 we stayed at the Aman property in Bali and I would have to say that this property definitely rivals the Aman and is at least half the price. My husband had a massage and enjoyed it very much. There is only 1 restaurant on property in which we had tea and breakfast only- both were great. They keep the doors to the gym open so unless you are used to the humid weather it was a bit difficult to get through a workout. I would suggest this hotel to everyone. It is beautiful, comfortable, and definitely a luxury property with stellar service.

This hotel made our trip to Bali. I was returning to the island for a friend's wedding and had a bit of a sense of 'been there - done that.' In general, I found the island to be very pricey and overly catering to tourists. However, the Komaneka Bisma is magical. We stayed in an one-bedroom pool villa that had a lovely view of a small forest behind the hotel. We could hear the river rushing below and saw hundreds of birds zipping around in the trees. I reached a whole new level of relaxation as we spent hours on the double chaise reading, dozing and taking in the view. For a change of scenery, you can hop into your private plunge pool (larger than I had anticipated) or take an outdoor shower in the most beautiful setting.

The room service (both western and Balinese food) was excellent, as was the breakfast in the restaurant. The staff was extraordinarily friendly but not overly present. While the hotel was pricey, we found this place to be much more of a worthy indulgence that our beachside hotel (The Legian) and our ocean-view villa that we shared with friends.

The only downside of such a lovely location is that it's hard to motivate to explore. Since I had already been to Ubud, I was ok just lounging but if this were my first time, I might feel torn between uber relaxation at Bisma and taking in the town. We did venture out one day and took a back route to Monkey Forest (when you get to the hotel gate, take a right). This allowed us to take in the rice paddies and more 'real life' in Ubud.

Setting is gorgeous. Rooms are exceptionally spacious and well furnished. Very comfortable beds. Rooms have large balconies overlooking beautiful rice paddies. Service is excellent, responsive, and always with a smile. Meals are very reasonable and well prepared. Just a lovely, tranquil retreat from the hustle of Ubud. Price was reasonable considering it included breakfast and all taxes and free wifi. Only downside was there was no elevator down to the pool levels--have to walk down several flight of stairs which may be difficult for older people.

Although one night was all we could afford staying in pool villa room number 107. This memorable stay is best described as sheer luxury with exclusivity, the infinity pool in the villa compound bestowed beautiful views out to the rice paddies below. All amenities provided were 5 star, the staff were attentive and friendly.
We knew Ubud was a beautiful place to visit but Komaneka at Bisma is truly a highlight.
I would not hesitate to recommend this complex to any of my family and friends, in fact since our return my partner's parents have now booked for March next year.

We stayed here for four nights. So impressed with absolutely everything. You have to stay here. From now on when we go back to Bali, we are staying in Ubud and at Komaneka again. The service is second to none - your on a first name basis here. The food is amazing and so is the spa services. Definately worth the money! If you like the best then stay here, you wont be disappointed.
