“Great hotel, quiet, peaceful & absolutely relaxing place!”
Reviewed 10 February 2010

Me and my friend stayed at Villa Sarna for 2 nights and absolutely love this place. It's so quiet, peaceful and relaxing. As the properties has only 8 rooms, so no children running around (during my stayed), only polite and friendly adults alike.

The garden is beautiful. The pool although is a bit small but is lovely without awful chlorine taste. The Shiva room I stayed is of nice size. Comfortable twin bed, lots of cable channels, big changing room & washroom. The only disappointment is no bathtub. The balcony is added advantages for a lovely relaxing spot for some reading.

The breakfast is sufficient. The house dog whiskey is so obedient and charming. He even accompanied us for a walk to the near by village.

The Kampung cafe which is own/related to the hotel serves great food. The view at the cafe is very good too. Free shuttle can be arrange by hotel & restaurant easily.

The daily free shuttle to Ubud center is very useful. The friendly staff took on on different route which we enjoyed it very much. Once they even pick us up out of the schedule time table.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights. Wow.!! What a beautiful and peaceful location!! We immediately wished we could stay longer. Each villa was separate and set a distance apart which gave it a feeling of seclusion. The decor of the rooms were tastefully decorated and no expense seemed to be spared. The breakfasts were lovely and a wide choice available. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too difficult. It is about 20 minutes drive from Ubud but we didn't find this a problem. Villa Sarna provides a courtesy bus and the driver will drop you off to the centre of Ubud and pick you up at regular intervals. They will also hire out a driver on request for around US$8 per hour. We hired a lovely friendly driver named Made from the hotel. He took us around Lake Batur and pointed out lots of interesting places and stopped at places of interest along the way. The highlight of the tour was when he took us through one of the villages and we were able to look throughout one of the houses to learn about a typical Balinese family life. The only negative thing I can say about our stay was that dinner was not cooked at the hotel. I didn't understand why as there was a kitchen with great facilities and the cooked breakfast was always superb. There was a restaurant within walking distance (about 500 metres) from Villa Sarna but as it was after dark, we were driven there by the hotel staff and driven back to the villa by the restaurant staff. The service was good at the restaurant, however, we found there wasn't a wide variety on the menu. The other option would be to go into Ubud for a meal and have the courtesy bus pick you up later. We will definitely be returning but next time we'll be staying longer.

We stayed a few days at Villa Sarna in Ubud and everything right from the beginning was perfect. The driver picked us up from the airport, there was a welcome drink although we arrived very late. And the next we couldn’t believe what we saw. Such a nicely decorated bungalow, the sorroundings so stunning (we have never seen so much green, so many different trees, amazing flowers not to mention all the lovely statues). No wonder the breakfast was marvellous too, of course everything fresh, the doughnuts were so tasty and fresh. We received lots of recommendations from Satnam what to do and where to eat, we enjoyed everything. Not to forget the shuttle service was always available regarding our requests. To make it short: highly recommended and a huge thank you to all of the staff, especially to Satnam who made this stay so memorable. We will definitely come back and can recommend this place for people who seek a location in style combined with true nature.

I stayed with my wife in Vishnu room for 4 nights and we could never forget our wonderful stay here.
VILLA Sarna is truly a 4 star property and the staff are very professional.
They are willing to go to any extent within their limits to make your stay comfortable.
We enjoyed the rich flora and fauna around the villa along with the art and sculptures.
The free shuttle to Ubud town was very handy since we used to go to Ubud town centre every morning, arrange for some package tour and then come back to the villa in the evening.
The hotel can also arrange for airport drop/pick up at an extra reasonable cost.
I don't have much words to express, in summary I can say that Villa Sarna is an absolute treat.
For people who enjoy being close to nature, Ubud is the place and in Ubud, Villa sarna is the ultimate choice.

Villa Sarna and the staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly. I could not have asked for more! Villa Sarna arranged transportation to pick me up from the airport and they provide free shuttles to and from Ubud. In addition, they offer tours should you seek to explore the beautiful surroundings. Villa Sarna was extremely clean and breakfast, which is included, was a great way to begin the day. The location is tranquil and one of the most beautiful locations I have seen. It is rather romantic but perfect for the solo traveler as well. I would highly highly recommend Villa Sarna! Fabulous!!!

Early January 2010 we stayed for 3 nights at Villa Sarna. The villa is a wonderful private home - converted into a small boutique hotel – and situated in a quiet tropical valley overlooking lush vegetation and rice paddies. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Staff are very helpful and friendly, breakfast is served on a lovely veranda overlooking the valley and a small pool provides refuge from the heat and comfortable deck chairs. Complementary transport to Ubud is provided at regular intervals, and mopeds can be hired to allow easy exploration of the local traditional Balinese villages, temples and rice fields. A good restaurant down the road complements the wonderful accommodation. Highly recommended for those who would like to escape the bustle of downtown Ubud and treat themselves to a luxury retreat with a personalized experience.
