“Wonderful setting!!”
Reviewed 28 July 2011

WE loved our stay at Amori, and were looked after so well and just like family. We found it very relaxing and ate in every night, and found that an enjoyable experience, being the only ones at times.
Our room was very Balinese and comfortable with great views.

Room Tip: Upper floors have wonderful views.

I don't usually like flying at night - or arriving at my destination at midnight, but on this occasion . . . waking up in the morning to the surrounding beauty of Amori was nothing short of magical. The infinity pool reaching off into the distance, 101 shades of lush and tropical jungle green, the mist hanging over the valley, the flowers - Sensational!

Daylight also revealed the beauty of our more immediate surroundings. No expense has been spared and nothing overlooked in appointing the villa: obviously put together with careful thought by someone who cares.

Every little thing was taken care of. - before we even realised it needed taking care of! We were treated like members of the family by the attentive staff - all an absolute delight. Mozie, Kadek, Marde - we miss you!

The whole experience for me (a first timer with no great desire to ever visit Bali) was wonderful. From that first Amori Sensation, (the name of the welcome drink needs to be changed to Amori Sensational)! to the food, the surroundings, the staff, the amenities, the village, the beauty, the pool, the indoor/outdoor shower, the art, the serenity, the culture, did I mention the pool, the smiles, the warm hospitality. Sensational.

We'll be back!

Judy & Jeff

Amori villa is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A little way out of Ubud which didn't bother us as there was a shuttle available to go into town.

We have had the priviledge of staying in many 5 star hotels throughout the world as a couple and now a family with 3 children (now 12, 9 and 6) and yet nothing really compares to Amori. It ticked all the basics that you want in quality accommodation.. great views, great food, beautiful rooms, efficient transfers... but what it had which large, impersonal hotels don't have is character and personality. And the reason for this is because of the most genuinely caring staff we have met ANYWHERE! Amori is like visiting a distant relative who just happens to have an amazing home, who wants you to enjoy every part of it and is happy to provide you with his/her friends to get you to places and enjoy activities whch are just lovely.

We had the honeymoon suite and the 3 kids stayed in another villa right next door with plenty of space for all of their junk. We just loved the pool - and I cannot remember how many Amori Sensations we had (a mint and ginger juice) with bowls of the garlic flavoured peanuts while we lounged like kings in the sun. And unlike a Hilton hotel - it was complimentary and served with a lovely smile. The food was simple but tasty - and one night we organised it so that the children had a cooking lesson under the watchful eye of the chef and we feasted on their satays, noodle and rice dishes with 2 other couples who joined us!

The complimentary bus to and from Ubud was timely and efficient, and if they aren't busy, they'll collect you from your restaurant after dinner when possible.

A true highlight was the tour to the river and the village next door. As many of the staff live just outside the villa, the feeling of welcome even extended to their own homes. What an experience for our children to see what village life is like.

So... don't book into a chain.. or a big resort... stay here, it's just lovely. Tell your friends too.. but only the nice ones!

We were a family of 4, (kids aged 16 & 12) and only spent 2 nights at Amori as part of a longer trip to Bali but these 2 nights stand out as the highlight of the trip. The villa and its surrounds were beautiful and the outdooor shower and infinity pool real stand outs. The best part of our stay however was being totally pampered by the staff. If you go, ensure you ask for a tour of the local village. The local villagers were incredibly friendly and it was a real eye opener for our kids.
I would have liked to stay longer and hope to come back one day

I always look at the rooms when using trip advisor and the photos for these beautiful rooms are just what you get. The service was excellent- the staff had the mix of friendliness and catering for your every whim to perfection whilst their gentle demeanour reflected the serenity of the surroundings. There is lots to do if you want to do more than relax around the pool -nothing is too much trouble to arrange and a shuttle service connects you to the centre of Ubud. Although there are many lovely restaurants in Ubud, the meals at the villa are very well priced and so very delicious! A beautiful stay.

At just four guest rooms, we had high hopes for a personalised and wonderful experience, and we weren't let down by the wonderful staff at Amori Villas.

Upon arrival we were greeted with freshly made mint-lime-honey drinks, so delicious that we proceeded to order them for the rest of our stay. Plus a freshly cooked snack to settle our rumbling stomachs. The staff (both drivers and ground staff) were enormously attentive and never missed a beat.

Our room was even more than we could have imagined- Every last detail (paintings, finishings) were classy without a hint of kitch. The owner has clearly though of everything possible to make the guests stay comfortable - wide brimmed hats, umbrellas and carry baskets were all provided in the wardrobe!

And although we didn't use the mini bar much, it's always lovely to have the CHOICE and this one was well stocked, which is more than I can say for a lot of hotels nowadays.

But the greatest thing about this place is the views. We stayed in an upstairs room which has a balcony looking over the valley. Looks like some other people across the valley have latched onto the idea - in the 3 days we stayed we watched them put down the foundations of a new hotel. Pity, this will spoil the view a little! But nevertheless a wonderful place to stay.

It's located about a 5-10 minute drive from Ubud, you wouldn't want to walk it (the roads are crazy!) but the drivers do a great job of making life easy for you, with drop-off and pick up service several times daily free of charge.

Breakfast is cooked freshly for you in an open kitchen with NO CUT-OFF TIME which is lovely (who wants to have to order by 10am on a vacation??)

Anyway - loads more to say but this places is just tops, go there, you won't regret it.
