Wow, how relaxing & peaceful, great pool, good fresh food prepared by Qak the in house cook, Agun the manager invited us to a local ceremony, thank you we fely privlidged to attend such an event for a 200 year old tradition. Some of the staff Tara & Bagus personally escorted our youg sons down to the river for a swim and even swam with them to ensure they were safe, apart from 1 minor area we were extremely happy with our 4 night stay at Awang, thank you to all the staff & Ann who were always willing to help. 8.5/10.
We will be back one day, hopefully sooner than later!

We spent six days in this villa, situated in unspoilt, natural surroundings, overlooking the river ravine. We were a family of three adult children and ourselves, celebrating a 30th anniversary. The staff from Mr Agung, Kadik the driver and every other member, too numerous to mention, all were attentive without being intrusive and happy to include you in their village and culture. The villa itself was incredibly spacious and was being extended by another bedroom, although work was suspended during our stay. It is not in the centre of Ubud but is an easy 15 minute drive away and the car was always available. The position, with the pool on the edge overlooking the river, was more than enough compensation for the distance into Ubud. The breakfasts were great and the few meals we had there generally good. If you are wanting haute cuisine though it is unrealistic to expect it to emerge from the small kitchen. We had our special dinner at Cascades restaurant which is on the opposite side of the river, a sublime setting to match excellent food.

We stayed there for 3 nights and it was great. we had the brand new Eco villa for a couple

On the positive side, the villa was amazing: infinity pool overlooking the jungle, 180 degree windows, king size bed, good breakfast and great bathroom. we even saw monkey in the forest one morning while having breakfast!

Special mention on the service. Dewa does a fantastic job at making our life easy. Free driver in and out of town is also good.

One smallish negative comment: the staff is almost too overwhelming as they were very present so we lacked the privacy we wanted. One morning, they came 8 times for a total of 3:30 hours: bring breakfast, clean room, Clean the pool, water the plant, pick-up done breakfast, more water in the pool. It just never stopped.

Also, beware that you are in the jungle so you will hear at night frogs, birds among other animals and you will find spider, lezards and frogs in our outside your room. No big deal for us as it's a change from our downtown condo but just be aware.

Overall very good experience

I stayed at villa awang awang with 4 other ladies in 2010 and it was just beautiful!! It has the a gorgeous authentic bali feel with all of the decor and the most beautiful outlook over the forest. The staff were helpful and sweet and we loved the breakfast being prepared in the villa kitchen at the time we requested each morning. I couldn't fault anything, loved every minute of my stay there.

I returned in 2011 with my partner and 14 year old daughter to Villa Beji and it was equally as wonderful. Beji is more modern than awang awang but still with the authentic Bali feel. The addition of air con in Beji was also great. I didn't think it was possible to like it more than awang awang but with the more accessible infinity pool (right next to the living space and on the same level) and the air con in bedrooms we loved it!! Again we loved the helpfulness and sweetness of all the staff and enjoyed the breakfasts in the villa. We wished we had stayed longer and plan to return this year for a longer stay.

8 of us stayed here and we all loved it! The staff were excellent, the villa well appointed, lovely views, good breakfast. Our first night's dinner was average so we ate out the other two nights in Ubud but we particularly loved the Indonesian breakfasts. My only complaint (which really isn't a complaint) is I normally stay right in Ubud and therefore walk to everything but the beauty of this villa outweighs that. Plus, the staff are more than happy to drive you in and pick you up.

We walked in and were in love and couldn't imagine a more perfect place. Every room had their own beautiful 4 poster bed with mosquito netting (which wasn't necessary), outdoor enclosed shower, magnificent views over the ravine. The staff were attentive and were determined that we have a wonderful stay ... and we did.

Seven of us stayed at Villa Awang Awang for 9 nights - 2 couples and 3 singles. It was a special trip for a milestone birthday and it could hardly have been better. Right from the moment of booking, the staff were wonderful. While we were there the staff were very friendly and the service was great and unobtrusive, ready to assist in organising tours, experiences and visits to town. We organised some things ourselves and they were happy to facilitate.
Breakfast was served beautifully every morning and lunch and dinner were available with enough notice - food was bought fresh every day.
The villa itself is stunning, very large and open plan so there is space to enjoy your own company or to party with friends a little. We spent a whole evening just watching geckoes and trying to take photos of bats as they flitted past. Mosquito nets and plug-in repellants were much appreciated. The bathrooms were gorgeous, 3 with outdoor showers, and the experience of a warm shower in a rain storm was decadent bliss. The infinity pool was lovely and crystal clear, and the setting looking out over a jungle valley could not have been more beautiful. I would very highly recommend Awang Awang for a beautiful retreat close enough to still enjoy the perks of the town.

Room Tip: Put the mosquito nets down and plugs in before evening!
