“The great escape ...”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

After staying in the hustle and bustle of Seminyak for a few days, it was so refreshing to come to such a peaceful and beautiful villa - Villa Awang Awang. My fiancee and I stayed in Villa Pererepan - which is a gorgeous eco-villa, made of natural materials. It is fully open to the outside world, and you will have geckos, fireflys and even frogs come pay a visit! The constant cicada song from the lush rainforest just outside your window will put you to sleep in an instant. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive throughout our whole stay. They food was delicious. The driver was knowledgeable and would suggest places for you to stop in and visit on the way to your destination.

If you do book, I suggest the Bali GO Bicycle tour ... well worth the $35 AUD. Avoid the 3hr wait at the Elephant Safari Park if you can ... or if you don't like seeing them whack elephants with metal rods.

I don't always review places i go to, but this one is different. We stayed at villa Awang Awang for 3 nights and i wished we had more time. The villa was exactly as described with the incredible view of the forest. The staff were friendly and really made us happy. They were always in service with smile. When we left the villa all the staff were waiting to say goodbye and wish us a safe journey, that almost made us cry!.

This villa was an excellent choice, and we definitely recommend it. The view from our villa was wonderful - just as it appears on the web sites. The bedrooms were large, comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. The Villa staff were very attentive but not overbearing. This was our first of 3 pre-arranged hotels for our journey through Bali. We had pre-arranged to be picked up at the airport by the villa car, which removed any issue of describing the location to a cab driver at the airport. We had also pre-arranged dinner for our first night which was delicious and was served in our private living room area. The only noises at the Villa were the sounds of the forest, which was a respite compared with the endless noise of Ubud itself. You can take a very pleasant walk along the road near the Villa to examine the village and the rice paddies beyond. The Villa provided a shuttle into Ubud, and they were flexible regarding pick-up times and locations. The private infinity pool was a huge hit with the children, and very relaxing for the parents. The breakfast was very good; we loved the sticky rice! A very enjoyable stay.

We stayed at the villa Pererepan for two nights and it was simply incredible ! The view of the tropical forest surrounding you, the monkeys that showed up to enlighten our stay as well as the villa, its pool and the gazebo. Photos you can see on the website are absolutely accurate as we managed to take the exact same ones. The staff is incredibly helpful, always at your service and you feel like a royal couple at villa Pererepan. We so much enjoyed the villa that we nearly didn't leave it, unless it was for a walk down to the river where the employee of the villa showed us where it was safe to swim and where to take a sacred shower.
We went there for holidays as a couple and i would advice all my friends to get a few nights at villa pererepan to enjoy their couple holidays or their honeymoon. By choosing villa Pererepan and the Awang-Awang villas in general, you cannot be wrong, you cannot be disappointed.

The Villa Awang Awang was everything that I imagined it would be, and more... Sometimes photos on a website can be misleading however in this case the photographs, as lovely as they are, are not able to do the property justice. To me it is what I imagine a Balinese Palace to be like... It is simply a wonderful place to be, high up in the hills overlooking the gorge with the river below, no hustle or bustle. My only regret is that we were unable to stay longer. Treat yourself and stay a minimum 4 days and relax, get to know the area, the local people. The staff are so accommodating, and Qwek the manager/head staff member is quite possibly the most beautiful soul I have ever met. The pool was lovely, the views spectacular, the service fantastic. Qwek guided us to the river below and we spent a beautiful time swimming upstream to a lovely waterfall, the walk there and back was not easy but is was certainly worth the effort. Monkeys and squirrels and other wildlife were seen, if watchful, in the trees below.
Our girls did not want to leave and tears rolled down their faces as we rolled out of the villa and headed on to our next destination. It would my ideal place to be if I were to retire.

We stayed in Villa Beji, it was beautifully positioned to enjoy the unique jungle location. The staff were very friendly and helpful and catered to our every need. Access to near-by Ubud was always provided quickly and with a smile from our lovely driver.

The village atmosphere was great to experience and we were given the opportunity to take a walking tour around the village, rice fields and down to the stunning river, guided by a staff member. Awang awang provides a more peaceful option rather than staying in the busy centre of Ubud.

The bugs were a definite negative - but that's the price you pay when sleeping amongst the jungle. Packing some mosquito coils and spray is recommended!!
The only other downside was the poor wireless - not great when travelling with the social network obsessed.

Thank-you for taking the time to write a review . We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay . It is a shame that you did not mention to the staff your bother with insects . We usually have very few mosquitoes but we have coils on hand if required . Guests do not have to bring their own . There are also plug-in insect repellants for inside the rooms . Unfortunately despite paying for the best and most expensive wireless connection available it is not as fast or efficient as we are used to in other countries, The only consolation is that even the luxury resorts which charge up tp $1000 per room have the same service .

The context is superb. Overhanging a steep valley the setting is tropical vegetation with many species of birds and ever changing light. The perfect location to relax and explore Bali.

The accommodation is comfortable and luxurious and the furniture and decor shows the best of Indonesian style.

The staff were sweet and the breakfast was varied and well presented.

all highly recommended
